“...when the fight begins within himself,
a man's worth something.” -Robert Browning
"If you don't know what you want," the doorman said, "you end up with a lot you don't." ~Fight Club Chapter 5
"Recycling and speed limits are bullshit," Tyler said. "They're like someone who quits smoking on his deathbed." ~ Fight Club Chapter 16
I've met God across his long walnut desk with his diplomas hanging on the wall behind him, and God asks me, "Why?" Why did I cause so much pain? Didn't I realize that each of us is a sacred, unique snowflake of special unique specialness? Can't I see how we're all manifestations of love? I look at God behind his desk, taking notes on a pad, but God's got this all wrong. We are not special. We are not crap or trash, either. We just are. We just are, and what happens just happens. And God says, "No, that's not right." Yeah. Well. Whatever. You can't teach God anything. ~Fight Club Chapter 30
"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis." ~Fight Club the Movie
"Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction." ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery
For what is the beloved? She is that which I myself am not. In the act of love, I am pure male, and she is pure female. She is she, and I am I, and clasped together with her, I know how perfectly she is not me, how perfectly I am not her, how utterly we are two, the light and the darkness, and how infinetly and eternally, not-to-be-comprehended by either of us is the surpassing One we make.
- D.H. Lawrence
Since I have nothing better to do, I guess I'll post poetry too(how very out of character of me...)
A stream of unmet goals
And futile dreams
Lonely nights
He never knew
The past could weigh so much
Stares out the window
Outstreatches a hand
and waits
A storm is brewing somewhere
And one day
He hears
Lightening will strike his heart
A fire will start
Igniting love
Reduce the past to nothing
Reduce the pain to ashes
There is no barrier
No weight
This flame cannot destroy
