I've never celebrated Valentine's Day before except for in elementary school when it was mandatory (even then I thought it was cheap because everyone got Valentine's...I always had enough cards for everyone, but hid and/or threw out the one's my mother had forced me to make for the people I didn't like. heh.)
Anyways, that makes today the first Valentine's Day I've ever willingly participated in, and I think I finally can understand some of the allure. It was pretty much like every other weekend (since I've been spending most of them with Dawn anyways), but a little more exciting. We hung out for the first part of the day and played DDR until Dawn decided we should make a doubles routine up...which sounded odd, but I agreed anyways. We argued about the song for awhile (I like Samba de Janeiro and she likes True..., we ended up settling on Sobakasu which we both like, but not before a finger poking war broke out, but I always win those anyways ;)). So we made up this crazy DDRish dance thing and ended up going down to the public machine to play it. =) A lot more fun than I expected- we ended up making an A on it and A's and AA's on two other songs, and this random guy offered to buy us another round...first time that's ever happened...
It was cool though, and we spent a couple hours in the University arcade after that playing House of the Dead (haha- she died first and kept yelling 'vengeance!' whenever I destroyed another zombie), and, heh, 'Ultimate Pingpong'...which is evidently something she came up with with some of her other friends...it's more like a cross between ping-pong and raquetteball. So we ran around in the little alcove where the ping-pong tables are, hitting the ball off of the walls and diving to the floor to catch it in time. (we kept invading this other ping-pong table, but Dawn's got this crazy power where people never seem to get pissed when stuff ends up that way...they joined us *still mystified*). So, yeah, we played 'Ultimate Ping-Pong' with three strangers for over an hour. I think we managed to lodge two balls in the back of the basketball machine too- it was damn funny.
We left to have dinner, and spent the rest of the night hanging out (which is always cool, but is even better since we've been dating. =D ). The best part of the entire day was me looking over and realizing that she'd actually fallen asleep on me...I've known her for about a year and a half, and have spent the night at her apt. and parties, but I've never seen her sleep =). So I was in the same position for like two hours- trying not to move or breath too hard, with no feeling in my right arm, but it was possibly the coolest thing ever. =D
I think I like Valentine's Day.
