my parents went out of town for four days and chris (my roommate) spent every one of 'em over here. we were playing star wars galaxy (my brother and chris convinced me to get it and play with them). last night i also got some booze...we had some mike's lime (not real strong, but tastes good), and we tried rum and coke. none of us had ever had any before, so we hadda experiment with it. people told me to try bacardi rum, so that's what i bought. i'm not sure if that rum's just nasty or we put way too much in, but it wasn't very good. i think we had too much rum in our coke...it was about a 3:1 ratio of coke to rum...after a few drinks of the stuff (and i drank some rum straight), just smelling it made us all gag. eventually we decided we couldn't finish the things (we had 24 oz glasses full of it and drank about half) and dumped 'em in the grass. i may try a rum and coke again later, but it'll prolly be ata bar where the bartender knows how to mix it properly...or i'll just ask a bartender. i see a lot of 'em at work...they're pretty easy to identify too...they pay with ones a lot (tips). we also watched team america: world police...wasn't as hilarious as many say it was, but it was pretty funny. other than playing games and getting drunk, i haven't really done anything lately except work...what've you guys been up to?
*wanders off singing* America...fuck yeah...hehe

i spent the night at annie and kelsey's place again last night (annie wouldn't let me go home even though i'd only had 3 bottles of alcohol...ah well). i brought brandon over (cool guy to hang out with even if he's a bit of a slavedriver at work). joe and steven were there too (i hadda go pick up steven from work...after drinking two bottles and one shot, but we made it all right). anyway, i found the reason annie's not interested in me...she wants joe. it's a good feeling to have a definite answer, even if it is a no...maybes suck. ah well, off to take something for this stupid headache. i seem to have those a lot lately...with or without drinking. thank god i have a day off. i needa recoup before i die of exhaustion.

my disastrous day at work
ok, so i started at 930 this morning at the car wash thing. annie and kelsey showed up an hour late and heather was getting very impatient. shortly after they and nikki got there, we heard brakes squeal and a wreck. i ran over to see some pickup plowed into the rear of a parked car. people were gathering, so i made sure the driver was ok, then went back to my car wash and let the others and the police (when they showed up) take care of it. i guess the guy was drunk.
some guy gave me the keys to his suburban to park somewhere when we were done washing it. then he went over to the city fair thing that was going on. as i was driving his truck to a spot brandon jumped in front of me screwing off. i told him i wasn't going to stop, so he jumped on the hood and rode it to a parking spot. there was a cone in the spot, so he jumped off to move it (or so i thought....turns out he fell off). after he landed, he twisted to run, stumbled and fell down under the suburban. luckily i was able to brake in time so i didn't flatten him (guess that's what we get for screwing off with large motor vehicles). annie and kelsey thought some guy just hit him in the parking lot and they both screamed and almost had heart attacks. then they saw me driving and knew we were goofing off.
about an hour before i got off work (1130 pm...14 hour day, 5 unpaid) some kid (16ish) with a backpack came into the store looking very suspicious. serena noticed him and let everyone know. he went into the bathroom with a 6-pack of smirnoff and came out without it. a couple of guys caught him at the door and asked him to stop. instead he tried running. they blocked him and forced him back into the store. he tried running around them and knocked over a display then plowed into the automatic doors (they didn't open fast enough) and knocked all 4 off the hinges. the 2 side doors are made to swing open in case of fire or something where the sliding doors don't open, but the middle ones are secured by a belt that causes them to open and close and he ripped that belt off. we got him into the office and the police came and took him away (my company's in the habit of pressing charges for anything like that, so he's screwed). what coulda been a minor shoplifting and MIP charge will now turn into those plus destruction of property and possibly evading arrest and vandalism. we found the six pack of smirnoff in his backpack (one bottle almost half empty) along with several empty beer cans. dumb kid shoulda just stopped.
some good news to cheer you up...over the weekend we raised $213 for kolena's family (girl that lost the baby) plus the donations from inside the store (in the deposit buckets) and the donations from vicky's work (vicky used to work with kolena but got a new job and managed to raise money there too). overall, we prolly made her about $400-$500 or so. for two days, that's not too bad i think. we didn't open vicky's envelope, so we dunno how much is in there, so it might even be a lot more.

yesterday
don't worry about not hearing about her sooner darke. i just sorta started talking about her outta nowhere. she's a girl i work with and hang out with outside of work on occasion. i helped her and her roommate move into their apartment a week or so ago.
onto new stuffs...my computer's speakers are shot to hell...i dunno what's wrong with 'em, but i was watching videos at squizzle and they suddenly died. ah well...i don't really have the money to buy new ones with (saving it to move out). chris and i are gonna be moving in together in the middle of october (we hope), so i'm saving for that.
and now for depressing news...a girl i work with lost her baby. she'd been told by several doctors that she wasn't able to get pregnant, but then she did. she went in for a routine check up in the 8th month and the doctors found the baby dead. they did a c-section and took him out...apparently the umbilical cord got wrapped around his neck and strangled him. a bunch of us at work are donating money and we're doing a car wash friday and saturday to help raise money for the baby's funeral. just thought you guys should know so you can keep her family in your prayers or whatever it is you do.

for those of you interested in how it turned out with annie and i
today was slightly less awkward than yesterday. we actually talked and she smiled and laughed again. hopefully she's used to me having a crush on her and accepts it without being too weirded by it. i talked to another girl friend of mine. she confirmed what i thought...the changing the subject is a no, but it's a nice one. she told me it prolly means she likes me a lot as a friend and doesn't wanna ruin that by flat out rejecting me, but at the same time, she's not interested enough to say yes. ah well, guess i'll keep looking or hang out with her a while and see if her mind changes.

today at work
today was fairly awkward. annie and i didn't really talk at all. i walked passed the deli several times on my way to do things (get garbage bags, rags, take things back to produce, breaks, etc) and she barely even glanced at me. she said hi after i said hello to her and she did say by when she was going home...then she turned to brandon and giggled and said 'bye brandon, i love you'...i know she doesn't. she just thinks it's funny to watch him blush (besides, he's practically engaged to his girlfriend). it still kinda hurt though. ah well, i'll live...even though i was mildly depressed all day at work .

just in case anyone still reads this damn thing
well, some good news and some bad news. first the good news. i took chris out to see the apartments i was looking at and he loves it. we're looking to move in around october 15 or so this year. we've gotta save up a bit of money for the move in fees and security deposits. and i've gotta save a bit for tuition in the fall before i spend all my money moving out.
now the bad news...rejection sucks...even if it's not explicit. i talked to annie today (i work with her). i asked her if she had any idea why i'd brought her the flowers and she didn't. so i told her i'd come over to ask her out. before i could actually ask her at the time, she changed the subject real quick to some sandwich she'd made on her lunch break and she got it out of the fridge and started eating it. then nikki and some other girl (tammy i think) popped in and dragged annie off to smoke a cigarette (the only vice i dislike about her). to me that's sort of like saying no when asked out...i mean, changing the subject to avoid the topic's just as bad, right? ah well...i'll live. i mean, it's just a crush on her...it's not like i'm madly in love and left.

i went apartment shopping earlier this week. i found a place i'd like to move in, but now i just needa save up for the move in fees. i don't see any problems paying the rent and other monthly expenses (especially with a roommate), but that huge lump sum to move in is kinda tough right now. hopefully by the end of the summer i'll have enough to move in.
