well, um, i really don't have much to say today. i went to work and cut my finger on something. not bad, just scraped the skin off. oh well. well, um, i guess i'll leave you guys with a riddle...well, it's kind of a riddle...it's really a poem with a hidden name in it. see if you can figure out the name. not sure what you get, because i don't know where any of you live and i can't make anything on the computer for ya...how 'bout a cookie for the first person to get it? answer tomorrow
i can't even imagine the patience and difficulty of writing this to have a person's name hidden in it and still make it sound good...guess that's why poe is considered one of the greats, eh? i removed the title so you can't go looking for the hidden meaning online somewhere (well, i guess you still can if you wanna be a cheater, but it'll take longer without knowing the name of the poem. i will be nice and give you the author though...just because he's so freakin' awesome).
For her this rhyme is penned, whose luminous eyes,
Brightly expressive as the twins of Leda,
Shall find her own sweet name, that nestling lies
Upon the page, enwrapped from every reader.
Search narrowly the lines!- they hold a treasure
Divine- a talisman- an amulet
That must be worn at heart. Search well the measure-
The words- the syllables! Do not forget
The trivialest point, or you may lose your labor
And yet there is in this no Gordian knot
Which one might not undo without a sabre,
If one could merely comprehend the plot.
Enwritten upon the leaf where now are peering
Eyes scintillating soul, there lie perdus
Three eloquent words oft uttered in the hearing
Of poets, by poets- as the name is a poet's, too,
Its letters, although naturally lying
Like the knight Pinto- Mendez Ferdinando-
Still form a synonym for Truth- Cease trying!
You will not read the riddle, though you do the best you can do.
-Edgar Allan Poe
