an example of my logic homework.
E: every event is caused
C: human choices are caused
H: human choices are events
A: human choices are alterable
F: people are free
R: human choices are random
O: people have control over their choices
M: people are morally responsible for what they do

argument:

1. E v ~C
2. if H then (if E then C)
3. H
4. if C then ~A
5. if ~A then ~F
6. if ~C then R
7. if R then ~O
8. if (~F v ~O) then ~M
9. therefore ~M

truth table:

1. E v ~C - T
2. if H then (if E then C) - T
3. H - T
4. if C then ~A - T
5. if ~A then ~F - T and F
6. if ~C then R - T
7. if R then ~O - T
8. if (~F v ~O) then ~M - T
9. therefore ~M - F

number 5 leads to a contradiction meaning no counterexamples exist with this
argument, thereby proving humans are not morally responsible for any of their
actions. i kinda like that. it means i can get away with anything without
ever being responsible for it. on the other hand, that could be a bad thing.
responsibility for our actions and being held responsible is one of the things
that keeps mankinds' evil nature subdued.
