I figured it out
I always wanted to know why the hell Fruits Basket was called Fruits Basket because, ti didn't make sense. the plot is aobut the Chinese Zodiac for pitty's sake. So I actualy got the books from my local Library and i figured it out.
When Tohru (the main character) was little. she was teased by the boys alot. one day they played a class where one kid gave you a fruit name and when someone called out your fruit you switched chairs with them.
Tohru was Onigiri, which I learned is not a fruit, so she was sitting in her chair all alone for the whole game. She learned that an onigiri had not place in a fruits basket.
That was her first memory of ever feelin ostracized from the group.
