Now Playing: ZLTP - Dark World Theme
| | This week's tune is the Dark World theme from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It plays whenever you're in the overworld of the Dark World, and is my favorite track in the game. In fact, if I had to choose a favorite song out of the entire Zelda series, I'd probably choose this song. Just like playing the game itself, I never seem to get tired of listening to it. Be sure and check back every Sunday for a new song. | | |

Vine Border
| | Whee, I finally got my border working! Well, kinda; I'm still tweaking it. It'd be nice if people could tell me if it's working for them, by posting comments. For me it's working fine, but myOtaku was really picky about how to put the HTML into the add post thing, so I'm kind of wondering whether it'll work for everyone. | | |

F-Zero GX - One Annoyance
| | Well, I've been playing more, and I unlocked the Diamond Cup yesterday. Dang there are some cool tracks in it! Very challenging, too. The CPU players get vicious on Expert difficulty. As stated in the title, though, I have found one very minor flaw in the game. Though it's not even during gameplay, just in the menu. That is, once you enter VS Battle, you can't just hit the B button to go back to the main menu or change the number of players. You have to choose the Quit option at the end of a race or from the pause menu during a race. Nothing big, just a minor annoyance. | | |

Defeat...
| | Well, so much for using the printer/scanner/copier on this computer. We really don't know why it doesn't work, either. (The only thing we really do know is that my computer is a [expletive deleted] up piece of [expletive deleted], and that it's not the printer screwing up since it worked fine on my brother's computer). My oldest brother said he thinks the motherboard might not fully support USB (despite having two USB ports), and that's why it doesn't work, but we don't actually know. If so, though, that means it'll probably never work without getting a new motherboard. Which will probably also mean getting a new CPU and new RAM. And while I'm at it, I might as well snag one of my other brother's old graphics cards. (I've got piece of [expletive deleted] on-board graphics currently). So pretty much, I'm looking at a full upgrade if I want to use the printer. And I won't be able to do that until Christmas and my birthday shortly after, if even then, because of lack of funds.
But, I'll still be able to scan my Ice Rod art. My oldest brother has a printer/scanner/copier almost just like our new one, so I'll just have him scan it. I was hoping to use our new one, but that's now out of the picture. So I'll probably get it up later today, if I remember to ask him about it. | | |

F-Zero GX
Well, I looked at the ads again, and F-Zero GX did come out today, not yesterday. So I'm glad I didn't try and pick it up yesterday, heh. Would've been a wasted trip.
I finally got it today, though, after waiting about 3/4 of a year for its release. So what do I think about it? Well, let's just say it made me go "woah." Multiple times. And for various different reasons. And I actually did the O_O look while I said it, except that my mouth was hanging open.
So yeah, it's definitely lived up to all my expectations so far. The play control, while at first I thought it seemed a little too finicky, is fast becoming second nature. And, like I had hoped, they kept the drift control for the R and L buttons the same as Maximum Velocity on the GBA. If you just push in one of the buttons, you drift to the side while staying pointed in the same direction, instead of it turning you to the side like in F-Zero X. And, what's more, you can still do the drift turns that the F-Zero X style allowed. To do those, you just hold in both the R and the L buttons and you'll drift around turns. Very nice; it's like getting the best of both worlds.
Of course, the first thing I noticed about F-Zero GX was the awesome speed of the game. Never before have I seen a racing game go this fast! At first I was just trying to keep up with what was going on, and that was on the easy tracks with barely any sharp turns. You really have to concentrate on the later tracks... And this was just on the easiest difficulty! I can't imagine what Expert mode is like.
Also, another thing I found cool, was that after I stopped playing I realized my heart was pounding and it felt like I had just been hiking a little ways up a steep hill. I'm not kidding, either; it got my adrenalin pumping. Even in practice mode it can get pretty intense, just trying to stay on the track on some courses.
The story mode also looks like it's going to be extrmely fun. I've only done the first two missions so far, and while the first wasn't that interesting (a training mission), the second was a lot of fun. It's a race against Samurai Goroh, pilot of the Fire Stingray, along a cliff edge while large boulders roll down the hill. Very fun trying to dodge the boulders while taking the turns as sharp as you can (because you really need to if you want to win) and trying to find good places to use your boost.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with this game so far. A definite buy for anyone that likes racing games.

Even More "Argh!"
Well, we went out and got a USB cable yesterday. So, I plugged everything in, put in the ink cartridges, and popped in the CD to install the drivers... And it says it can't find the printer, even though everything is plugged in correctly! "Argh!"
So either the printer is screwed up, the USB cable is screwed up, or it's just my crappy PC. (Unless, of course, it's a combination of those three). I'm guessing the third option. This computer has never been anything but a piece of crap, and it seems to like to screw up at pretty much every opportunity it gets.
And, that means no Ice Rod pic today, either, unless we can get it working. This is really starting to piss me off...

F-Zero GX
Whee, F-Zero GX comes out today! (I'm pretty sure it was today. Today or tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure I remember it being the 26). Can't wait to go pick it up, strip away the plastic wrap, open the case ever so gently, and breath deeply the scent of a new game. Ahhh, yeahhh...

Things That Make You Go "Argh!"
Well, my mom just got a printer/scanner/coppier for our PC, since we'll need to be, well, printing, scanning, and copying things for school this year. So we get home, I make a spot for it on my desk (which, by the way, was not an easy task with all the stuff piled on it), and we open up the box.
Now, this is where the "argh!" part comes in. Turns out, it didn't come with a USB cable, and I don't have one that fits it. So no printing/scanning/copying for me tonight, and it also means we have to buy one more thing.
Oh well, guess that just means no scanning that Ice Rod art until tomorrow. And no scanning old photos of me to post on OB. There's this one of me with a big boa constrictor (I think that's what kind it was) wrapped all around me, from a long time ago at the fair. That was fun, and it also creeps my mom out. ^_^

Boredom
Bleh, it's 4:00 AM and I'm just sitting around listening to remixes of Zelda music and browsing myOtaku sites. How exciting, eh? Don't really feel like doing anything, but I'm not tired so I can't sleep... So I'm typing this.
There's not really anything on my mind, this is just sort of my last ditch effort to keep myself occupied. Well, besides starting up a new game on Zelda: A Link to the Past, anyway. I always have fun playing that game, but it's getting harder and harder to find ways to keep it interesting. I've already played through doing all sorts of funky stuff like not getting the Master Sword. I guess the next step would be going the minimalist route and only getting items that are required to beat the game. That'd probably provide a decent challenge.
Still, that's doing something, and I don't really feel like doing much. Sitting here typing this involves very little thought, so this is okay, but eventually I'm going to run out of things to babble on about. Well, at least it provides a few minutes of...well, not entertainment, but like I said at least it keeps me occupied. Or something like that.
Whee.

Now Playing: Pikmin - Love Song
This week's tune is Ai No Uta, roughly translated as "Love Song." This song is the music that played on the Japanese TV commercial for Pikmin, and while this midi is just the music, there are also words to the song. Go here to listen to a short sample of the song with words, and to see the translation of it. The complete song can be found on a CD by Strawberry Flower.
Check back every Sunday for a new song!
