Final Fantasy VI

On a whim, I decided to play FFVI today. (It's actually the SNES FFIII, though, not the PS1 port). I'm currently going through Kefka's Tower, and I finally managed to beat the last two Dragons, Poltergeist (one of the Statues), and a couple other bosses. That leveling I did earlier payed off; my secondary party doesn't die off from the first couple fights anymore. And for my third party, I've got Mog in it with the Moogle Charm, so I don't have to worry about random battles with my weak party. I just have to watch out for bosses (which I'm fighting with my main party, going in and out and taking different paths), and hope I don't get a monster-in-a-box.

My next challenge will be fighting the Atma Weapon for the second time. I've heard you can steal another Atma Weapon (the sword) from it, so I'll have to try that. Atma Weapon x2 + Offering + Genji Glove = major damage. ^_^ Right now I have Celes using an Atma Weapon and the Illumina with the Offering and Genji Glove, and the damage she does with hits from the Atma Weapon is a lot higher than from the Illumina. (For those of you that don't know, the Genji Glove lets you hold a sword in each hand, and the Offering lets you do four attacks with each, for a total of eight hits). If I could get two Atma Weapons, the total damage she'd be doing would rival that of Edgar using the Gem Box to cast two Ultima spells in the same turn, which does 20,000 damage to most things.

Hopefully I'll also be inspired to play some more tomorrow. When I decided to play through FFVI a second time, I did almost everything up to Kefka's Tower, and then just stopped. (I never have liked end dungeon type places, and I especially don't like having to switch around between three parties of characters when only one can stand up to most of the monsters). And though I've played through most of the game twice now, my first game got erased as I was doing the last couple things I wanted to do before going into Kefka's Tower. So this is still new to me, which is fun, since I get to explore somewhere I haven't been before. And after I go through it, I'll have done pretty much everything there is to do in FFVI -- I'll also be able to say I've beaten the game.

Heh, and maybe after this I'll go back and finish up FFIX, too. I'm just before where you switch over to Disc 4, and I haven't played it in over a year. Aren't I horrible? I play through FF games till I get close to the end, and then just stop, lol. I don't think I've played a single FF game that I haven't done that with. Granted, I only did it on my second time through FFVII, and not on the first, but still... I am still playing FF Tactics Advance, however, and haven't stopped yet. Even if I've been playing for over 80 hours, I haven't gotten the least bit tired of it; maybe FFTA will finally end my nasty habit of stopping-for-a-year-before-beating-an-FF-game. ^_^;
