   Good-bye 2004, hello 2005!!!
Listening to: Do As Infinity "Shinjitsu no Shi"

I hope everyone rang in the new year w/ some fun. Yesterday, Eric and I went to the playground across the street, and I found out that I can hang longer in pull-up position. Yeah for arm power! My parents had company over, but there were no kids so I showed Eric the rest of Spiral. I can't get sick of that anime, and I've seen it 3 times: on my own, w/ Eric, and w/ Kira 2 days ago (it was fun hanging out w/ you again). Then we watched some of the Inuyasha discs Dennis loaned me. I also watched Kate and Leopold. It was a cute movie. Hugh Jackman was dazzling as usual, even though I find him the sexiest as Wolverine (I'm a die-hard X-men fan). My favorite character was Stuart, the ex-boyfriend. I could relate to how people thought he was insane when he talked about time travel. I actually understood the part about how if the future you travelled to the past and took a photo of yourself, the present you see yourself in the photo (makes your head spin huh?).

My resolutions:
1)Stop being passive. - I've missed out on some great things (and great guys) by just sitting around and waiting.
2)Do my homework when I get it. - That will save me a lot of grief.
3)Don't spend more than 2.5 hours on the Internet unless it's school-related. - I can get so much more stuff done.
4)Be confident! - I've missed a lot of things also b/c I didn't have faith in my abilities.

Now that it's the new year, I look forward to what 2005 has to offer. 2004 was a good year for me 'cuz I've become a happier person, who's comfortable w/ being herself. Anyway, Eric is having his birthday party today since he has to start school soon and I leave before his real b-day (Jan 12). I haven't done too much. I finished uploading new images onto my photo album. On Thursday, Eric and I dressed up as Gackt and Hyde respectively. Somehow I convinced him to wear my vinyl pants and jacket. The outfit really was like the one Gackt wore in his Wasurenaikara PV. My look was Hyde from his 666 solo album. It was definitely a fun photo shoot. Attitude all the way baby!

   holiday parties
Listening to: Dir en Grey "[KR]Cube" (My favorite Diru PV...Die is my hero! He's got the Matrix coolness down, and I love Kaoru's fox hat. ^_^)

Christmas was fun. I got to spend it w/ my best friend since forever, Daphne, and her family. I love the scarf that she gave me; she knitted it herself! Awesome. We went up the street to her friend Willie's house to hang out for a little bit. Then, along w/ her sister Angela, we made dinner for everyone. I found out that I'm not just useful in the kitchen when making desserts, but I don't think I'm ready to cook a meal by myself yet. (Back then, I would've never been able to find a husband, lol.)

The next day, my mom wakes me up early so we can catch the massive sale at Kohl's. I managed to find the black T-shirt I needed for my Dir en Grey cosplay (now I just need to put "Bass" on it). I also found a lot of cute things I could use as Christmas gifts next year. Devious, aren't I? Or is it cheap...

Later that day, we went to 3 different houses: 1 belonging to a relative and 2 belonging to family friends. The 3rd one was my friend Bethany L's (I know 2 Bethanys so I tacked on the last initial). I hadn't seen her in a while so I was happy. Bethany was hiding out in her room, like usual. She usually doesn't let anybody in her room w/o permission, but Eric and I just have to poke our heads in. My mom wonders why I choose to hang out w/ Bethany (who is, I think, in 9th grade) instead of the older teens. I guess it's b/c we're both crazy about anime and J-rock. She's not as into the latter as I am b/c the crossdressing still bugs her, but she loves Tetsu of L'arc~en~Ciel (Hyde all the way for me!). All night we watched Battle Royale and J-rock PVs.

Oh, I got my haircut today. It's about shoulder length and I decided to try something new by having it layered. I definitely like it a lot, which is much more than Eric can say.

   Merry Christmas!
Listening to: No Doubt "Oi to the World"

Merry Christmahanukawaanzakah everyone! (Is that how you spell it?) How come they don't include the pagan holiday, Yule? Happy Yuletide (even though I'm 3 days late)! Well, I'm gonna get ready to go to Daphne's house and maybe I'll catch some of the Last Exile marathon.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Listening to: Anna Mhoireach "Swallow's Tail" (I love Celtic-inspired stuff. This song makes me wanna step dance.)

In elementary school, we used to sing "I'm dreaming of a green [or brown] Christmas," but this year, the song may be true! Snow in Texas? Yep, and it isn't that sleet crap we usually get. I'd go play outside, but it's a bit heavy (by Texas standards). You can't even see the school across the street from my house!

My Grapevine Mills shopping trip w/ Elizabeth, Laura, and Jenna on Monday was fun. I felt like I was on some makeover show..."Cute, Stylish Straight Eye for the Cheap, Tomboyish Straight Girl!"...lol. Sometimes it was overwhelming since my mom has brainwashed me to not wear things that are too tight, low, or short. Not that I really want to wear clothes like that too much. However, I did want clothes that fit better than the pants I often steal from Eric (even though I love baggy pants). I'm glad the 3 of them had different styles, and my weird, tomboyish J-rock meets BMXer tastes was something of its own. I'd get really excited when we went into Fast Forward, PacSun, and Hot Topic.
Anyway, the trip was a success. I tried some new looks, found out that turquoise is my color (didn't get anything 'cuz they were too small), managed to buy cosplay materials that I can wear elsewhere, and got the wallet chain I needed. The funnest moment was when Jenna jokingly handed me a PVC jacket, and I actually wound up buying it. ^^ The best though was just being w/ my friends (2 of whom I haven't seen in 4 months).

I also went shopping w/ my mom today, this time at North East Mall. She wanted to introduce me to this skin care/make-up brand. I forgot the name; it starts w/ an "S." I felt bad that she spent $80 on me so I didn't ask for anything, except for the black and white striped tights I saw at Hot Topic. I needed them for my Megatokyo cosplay, and I hadn't been able to find them anywhere else. My mom doesn't like going to Hot Topic b/c she says that the people in there are "weird" and she feels out of place. I guess it is an intimidating place, but the clerks in there are always the nicest around. It was funny 'cuz the ones at Mills were more like goth punks and the ones at North East looked like they came out of Orange County Choppers. Everything was all good until we got back and discovered that my tights were gone. I remember carrying the bag out of the store, and I would've noticed it falling out. Also, my mom said that while she was waiting for me outside of Sam Goody, she thought she heard the bags rustle and the people sitting next to her leave. We got robbed! How annoying! At least the guy didn't steal the expensive stuff, but now I have to go searching again.

   need to get to work
Listening to: Harry Connick Jr. "Blue Christmas" (Hey, there was a time in my life before Jrock, and as a pianist, I gotta respect the guy.)
Okay, I've wasted a week sleeping, watching TV, going on the computer, and playing DDR. I said I'd get stuff done after I recuperated, and now it's time for me to stop being a slacker. Technically I don't have any projects, but I'd like to get started on next semester's reading. It sounds like I'm being an overachiever, but the reading can really pile up. Also, I really would like to get an A in physics next semester (not that a B is bad considering how much I suck at mechanics). That's the only grade I know right now, other than martial arts which doesn't count towards your GPA b/c it's a PE credit.
Anyway, I didn't do much on my birthday: went out to eat at California Pizza Kitchen and got the Return of the King extended edition. Yay, a part of my life is complete, but I'm sad that it's officially over now. It was so fun anticipating the next LOTR movie and seeing it for my birthday. I know a lot of people complained about the "endings," but part of me was wanting it to keep on going. For me, things will really end when I get back to school and we have a LOTR marathon on the guys' projector. On a side note, I didn't know that I shared a birthday w/ a member of the cast: Miranda Otto (aka Eowyn). Sweet!

   I'm legal!
Listening to: X Japan "Tears"

I don't feel any different now that I'm an adult, but maybe that's b/c I'm still around 14 inside. It's gonna be weird going back to Rice and not hear the guys joke about me being illegal.

Speaking of the guys, it was very kind of them to give us pie before we left. It was a good thing I swung by their room to introduce my brother Eric as we were packing up. There was a funny moment when I asked what Parker's brother, Phil, was playing on the computer. After he said that it was Vampire the Masquerade, I said that I wanted to get that game. Then Parker and Jared said that they figured I'd be into that kind of game. Ah, they know me too well (or maybe it's that I'm not too subtle w/ my love for vampires). Anyway, Eric was glad to have met the guys since they're all obsessed w/ computers. The thought of him becoming like one of the guys is a bit frightening, especially since Eric told me that he wanted to go to Rice so he could hang out in Room 223.

Well, our recap finally brings us (or, to be more accurate, me) back home. I wish I had a chance to say good-bye to everyone else, but I did leave a message. It feels weird not having anything to do. However, I did get the Return of the King extended edition for my birthday so that should keep me occupied for a while. ;)

   Rewind to last week
Listening to: Malice Mizer "Illuminati" (despite what it's about, I like this song)

Now that I am done w/ finals and have a load of free time in my hands, I can finally post more. First we gotta recap noteworthy moments even though I've probably forgotten some of them. Let's start w/ December 3, the last day of classes.

Everyone was stoked about having no more classes, but Sophia was anxious b/c she had her piano jury. Luckily Kati went along for moral support. I would've gone too, but I wanted to check out the practical self-defense club.

Turns out I was the only girl, but like I care. I knew a lot of the guys in there, including Chris the president (also known as KFC, short for "Kung Fu Chris"). After doing some drills, we learned a few self-defense techniques. I partnered up w/ Jared who was sometimes too nice about grabbing me. There was this funny moment where Chris was talking about what to do if someone grabs you from behind. Using me as an example, he said, "This is useful if I come along, take Jen kicking and screaming into a dark alley, and have my merry way w/ her." He's British so I found it humorous and I was trying not to laugh as he picked me up. (After I told my brother about this, he refers to anything sexual as having one's "merry way.")
We learned some Muay Tai kicks on the punching bag. Jared was teasing me by pretending that the impact of my kick was so powerful that it knocked him over. Then we practiced our roundhouses, which I am the master of, according to Joseph (who was in my martial arts class) b/c I can use both legs really well. Finally, we did a bit of groundfighting. It didn't work too well since I was outsized, but it was a good learning experience.

Self-defense club was fun, but I was so out of shape that I was sore for 2 days. It was so bad that I couldn't open the bathroom door, which was heavy to begin w/, but I had to use my body and head to push it open. -_-;;

The following Saturday night was the Baker holiday party, where there was a Secret Santa gift exchanged. I was worring that Alan, the guy who would be receiving my gift (a lucky gold cat statue), wouldn't like his present. It turned out that he loved it and my anime drawing on the box. He said that it was "hot." There was a best Xmas outfit contest, and Rob looked very cool decked out in Xmas lights. I wasn't dressed up, but it was really cold that day so I wore my black trenchcoat and the black Happy Bunny knit cap Amanda gave me (which says "Cute but kinda evil") out to dinner. I didn't bother to change when I got to the holiday party so everyone was telling me that I looked like I was from the Matrix.

Phew, this is one long post. I'm almost done. Sunday was the meeting to kick off the preparations for BakerShake, our college's annual Shakespeare performance. I can't wait to find out what play is picked. We narrowed the list down to Taming of the Shrew, Cymbeline, Richard III, Story of Succession (a combo of the Henry IV plays), and Merchant of Venice. I don't think I'll be acting in it, but I'm definitely getting involved. Maybe if they need an extra, or maybe I'll help w/ costumes and props.

   what I did over Thanksgiving
Okay, I haven't updated in a while 'cuz on the last week of classes, the profs decided to cram in some extra homework. At least, that's what it feels like. Anyway, what I did over Thanksgiving break...

My best friend Daphne came over w/ the rest of her family. She, her older sister Angela, and I hung out in our backyard. My house had an insane amount of leaves on the ground so we made a pile and jumped in them. Nothing else really happened besides that. I did show my brother Moon Child, which he liked. He thought Hyde was really cool and that it was sad in the end (which he never thinks about most movies). Yay, I've converted another to the "dark side." (Elizabeth and I introduced Amanda to the wonderful world of anime and cosplaying.)

   movie night
Saturday was the last night of scenes performance, and it was a ton of fun. We changed up our scenes a bit. I can't believe Adam actually stripped down to his boxers! It was a good thing he gave me a warning. All of my buddies were there that night so I was extra pumped. It was definitely a great finish.

After the show, we had an Asian themed movie night in the guy's room (w/ the projector). The feature was Moon Child, and we brought chocolate, Pocky, seaweed, and those jelly things. Parker and Gabe were extremely stoked about the food. It was a good thing that Jared was a linguistics major and knew how to read Chinese (I can only speak it) b/c we managed to not waste time trying to find the right subtitles. Arigato Jared! It was kind of funny how there were 3 of us that knew some Chinese (Parker's taking beginner's Chinese) so we were making fun of how the subtitles didn't translate well. It's so cool how Moon Child features 4 languages. Anyway, I think the guys enjoyed it. They couldn't get over the fact that Hyde and Gackt were beautiful people and that their characters loved each other (in a brotherly sort of way). *rolls eyes* They're just jealous.
Funny moment: Rob saw part of the movie and couldn't get over the actors' appearances. Finally he says, "He is so a woman." (referring to Gackt). Then I go "He is so damn HOT!!!!"

   Opening night success!
Oh what fun it is being an actor! The opening night for Night of Scenes was a success. That's not to say that it was error-free, but we just rolled w/ the punches. The coolest thing w/ NOS is that there's no set, no costumes, no director, no overall play, just acting different scenes. Sure costumes are fun, but there's less to worry about when you're doing monologues and duets.
I had 2 roles. The 1st one was a monologue I adapted from the ShutterBox manga series. I was Megan flipping out to her friend Dagny. My 2nd role was a lot weirder. It was a duet from an actual play called Cute Boys in Underpants Fight the Evil Trolls. I was Zolnar, Prince of the Troll People!!! I was pretending to be the head of this agency, where Adam, an aspiring performer/model, is auditioning. I make him do a lot of embarrassing (sexual) things, and then I get him to sign away himself. The audience was laughing all the way through. The other scenes were awesome so mad props to my co-stars: Cielo, Adam, Amanda, Stacy, Sam, Martha, and Matilda and Bryce the piano player.
