   Happy Halloween!
Well, I'm back to being a J-rocker again. This is a ton of fun, despite it being really hot in vinyl pants and taking a long time to get my hair/make-up/costume done. My costume today was a bit different than the one from Oni-con. I wore my "rock star" shirt (it's tight and black and has a cool sequened eagle design) w/ an open, white collared shirt. I wrapped my glittery head bands around my arms, along w/ a cross necklace. Then I put on my studded belt on the outside of the shirt (or trench coat, depending on if I was wearing it or not). Of course I had to have a ton of jewelery, the vinyl pants, and the platform boots. Amanda said that the light-up spiked collar and the fake lip rings were the best. People kept asking me if I had really pierced my lip. For hair, I put most of it up, letting a portion hang over my right eye and dying that part white. I held back on the make-up since it'd be a pain to get it off. I didn't have much so the only thing I went crazy w/ was the nails. I put on dark blue and then painted a strip w/ this metallic purple polish (which changes color depending on what angle you look at).

Anyway, on my browse through Jrock sites, I found a movie called Moon Child that stars Hyde and Gackt. It was described as a sci-fi, vampire romance so I am definitely getting this somehow.

Oni-con Part III (another long one)
Saturday, we were joined by Caryn, another club member, and our friend Amanda, whose Asian Civ group was doing a project on anime. For someone who's not really into anime, Amanda was pretty stoked. We made her wear my Umi schoolgirl costume from A-kon. Our group theme was anime stereotypes. Greg was a Shinsengumi member; Elizabeth was the "model student," and Amanda was a magical schoolgirl. Sophia was the cute Japanese girl; her outfit was inspired by a pic of Evangelion's Rei in a yukata so she brought along her "Pen-Pen." I was the J-rocker/a female version of Haru Sohma. This wasn't my original idea, but after looking at my pants, studded belt, and black turtleneck and having Amanda suggest that I wear her spiked dog collar, I just had to be Haru. ^_^

After getting stuff in the dealer's room, Elizabeth and I went to the Camino autograph signing. We decided that they would sign our Rice shirts. I had my cute pink shirt and Elizabeth had our Baker O-week shirt (which has Capt. Baker w/ devil horns) so it looked like we traded shirts. Elizabeth said that the Camino guys were laughing at her shirt. When I took a pic of Hayato, he stuck his tongue out at me. DJKKid even asked me about Rice and college life. :D

We had to go back in line for the Duel Jewel autograph session. Elizabeth got an even funnier reaction for her shirt (it's really odd-looking, and she was so cute that day). I got more cool pics, and we were pretty much set for the rest of the day.

This was definitely an unforgettable experience. I mean, who can say that at their first concert, they got next to the stage and met the band? A few days later, we found out that Camino actually posts on their English BBS so it was cool hearing good things about their experience in Houston. Go Camino and Duel Jewel!!

   Oni-con Part II
All our Friday costumes were pretty much out of the closet (minus my vinyl pants which I got for super cheap). Elizabeth was Cagalli from Gundam Seed, and Sophia was Sosuke from Full Metal Panic. Greg, a grad student in anime club, took us there. After driving out of Houston and back in (the roads here are so weird), we finally got to the Sheraton North.

Registration didn't take long, but we stood in line for the Camino/Duel Jewel concert for well over an hour. It was well worth the wait. We were near the end of the line, and we still managed to get pretty close to the stage.

Camino had really catchy songs, and the guys were so adorable. We stood at the side where the speakers were so it was cool how Hayato jumped onto the speakers. They knew how to get a crowd going.

For some reason, they made us exit after Camino. We had to get back in line again. A lot people complained, but we were happy since we got even closer to the stage. Duel Jewel was amazing! Now I know what it's like to fall in love w/ the lead singer at a concert. Hayato (strange coincidence that both lead singers had the same name) was just magnetic. The band went through 3 costume changes, and Shun was just insane. Yuya was amazing too. There was also a cool portion where it was just Val and Natsuki. For days, I've been talking about how Hayato pointed in my direction, winked at me (no one else was standing where I was), and got a picture of me. :p It was pretty cool how the band was taking pics of the crowd. I'm surprised security didn't say anything about me b/c I was dangling over the rails.

In short, that was my 1st concert, and I was blown away. I was surprised I still had my voice the next day. Now I parade around school in my Camino necklace and Duel Jewel shirt, and we never hestitate to mention either band to anyone we talk to.

   Oni-con Part I
This is the 1st part of my recap of the insanity of Oni-con, which was my 2nd anime con (I went to A-kon this summer). The idea to go was a bit last minute, as my roommates had no idea it was taking place.

Friday I went to class in costume 'cuz we had to leave right after my lab. I cosplayed as Kira Sakuya from the Angel Sanctuary OAV, and I must admit: wearing a trench coat is empowering! Kira is such a badass. Anyway, I did get a couple stares, but I was insane enough to wear a trench coat and vinyl pants on a hot Houston day. Henry had the funny reaction; he was like "what happened to you?!" Was it that weird for me to be in a tank top? Ok, I gotta go to dinner so I'll finish Friday's recap in Part II.
