   time to actually do work
Listening to: "Ci Niao" - F.I.R.

Room draw was much more painless this year, probably b/c we had planned it out. Now I hope that things continue to go smoothly since I have to turn in my summer housing forms.

I finished Devil Beside You so that's another distraction out of the way. The end was really cute although the events leading up to it felt very rushed (there were only 20 episodes). Also, I can't help but wonder what happened to the other friend of the protagonist. Maybe they'll make a sequel.

   some interesting developments
Listening to: "Yume" - Lee Jung Hyun

I've got a date settled for Saturday evening. That means missing the new Naruto episodes, but I can catch the reruns Friday or some other time. Plus I really want to see Return to the Forbidden Planet (the play we're gonna watch).

Speaking of anime, I'm officially anime club president. I feel like our club is an American version of Genshiken b/c we've lost the majority of our new members. I need to figure out when everybody wants to go to Shiokaze Con so I can bum a ride. I finally picked a cosplay: Yomiko Readman! ^_^

Finally my friends and I had several interesting conversations last night. The topic drifted from anime (Elyse and Eric are into FMA) to classes for next year to romance novels (Amanda and I have become such suckers for smut) to circumcisions (don't ask). Elyse found it interesting that her most innocent friends are big romance novel fans, and Jared came to the conclusion that romance novels are like porn for girls, which I'm not gonna debate.

   idol dramas and deep conversations
Listening to: "Lighting Crashes" - Live

I'm becoming addicted for Taiwanese idol dramas. Most people are fans of Korean dramas, but I like Taiwanese and Japanese ones b/c they're more humorous (although Korean romantic comedies are a hoot). The Taiwanese dramas are fun b/c sometimes they're based off of manga, the most famous being Meteor Garden (the adaptation of Hana Yori Dango. Right now I'm into Devil Beside You, and I'm trying to find the manga. It's a typically shoujo story of good girl crushing on good boy and getting harassed by and eventually falling for bad boy. ^_^ I'm such a sucker for those storylines. My romantic side wants to find a bad boy to reform, but as Becky puts it, I'm more likely to be reformed by him. ^_~

This morning when I checked my facebook account, a friend from high school emailed me for advice on time management and studying. Surprisingly I had some helpful hints, but I need to start listening to myself. Then I realized that this year has been for me what most people's freshman years are for them. For high school outcasts like me, college is when we "get a life." My friend and I both kind of regret becoming more social this year b/c there was a price to pay: our grades. I hate having to struggle in all my classes and worry about failing. However, I wouldn't have survived this year w/o my friends, and I'm much happier than I was in high school. I think college is a time to try knew things and to learn how to balance work and play. I'm a slow learner, but I hope I find that balance soon.

Okay, I'm going to do something slightly different w/ my quotes. It's still Shakespeare, but instead of every day phrases that he came up w/, I'm gonna venture into the world of insults. This should be fun!

   House of Pies
Listening to: "Kiss or Kiss" - Nana Kitade (I think she's so cute, and I love her style.)

Yay for spring recess! I'm flying home tonight so I gotta get ready. Orgo exam sucked last night, but it makes me feel good that I wasn't the only one who was confused. Afterward, Daniela, Becky, Amanda, and I went to House of Pies. We were all in a strange mood, and we decided that in response to the Renegade Ninja Society our friend created, we were going to make the Swashbuckler Society. I love both ninjas and pirates, but I'm in favor of our group b/c we're less formal and more into it. The renegade ninjas shoot Nerf guns, and they have a certain procedure when it comes to inducting members. We (the pirates) do too, but we're probably just gonna wreak havoc and do many things, like dressing up, raiding the other colleges, and having a treasure hunt. Then we were trying to figure out pirate names for us. I think I'm gonna be Jade Wong, the Scourge of the East. Still playing w/ other options though.

Last night, I also watched K-One's mini movie. K-One is my favorite Taiwanese boy band b/c they're just so adorable and their songs are really catchy. The movie, called "Love Story," featured their "leader" Gino falling for a classmate.

I thought April Fools was Saturday
Listening to: "Blind" - Default

It was funny how attitudes changed throughout our last performance. A lot of people didn't want to do the Sunday mantinee b/c they were still tired from the party and Beer Bike and it made it the 7th show total. However, tradition has it to where actors and tech people pull pranks on the final performance, and I feel like that got people motivated. Also the audience was very responsive. I slipped in my couple of pranks: taping funny pictures and messages on various props, putting vodka in the grape juice (for our fake wine), and slapping a couple people's butts (it's handy to have a cape concealing your actions). The best pranks are those the audience can't see. However, a few little scene changes (as long as they were in character) were okay. They made the play funnier.

*sighs* Now it's time for massive orgo studying. At least I have 4 free hours b/c we don't have lab this week. I'm also bummed b/c I'm high up on the list of people who are supposed to be kicked off campus. There's still a slight possibility of me getting back on (if a lot of people volunteer to live off). We'll see what happens.

Here's to the 2005 BakerShake cast and crew!
Listening to: "Datenshi Blue" - Lucifer

Alas, today is the last performance of Cymbeline! We said our good-byes yesterday at the cast party. Yeah, traditionally they're after the final show, but we had a lot of scheduling issues. Even then, it still wasn't as good as it could've been since people were tired from Beer Bike (a Rice tradition) and daylight savings began. On the bright side, my family enjoyed the show a lot.

I forgot to put the link to my latest Firefly fanfic last time. I decided to try something different, and write from a POV other than Mal's. Misunderstood

   Here we go again
Listening to: "Hips Don't Lie" - Shakira

Shakespeare by Request wasn't exactly a hit to non-BakerShake people. That's okay; we were mainly doing it for us. The play that got the most votes was As You Like It, which I had not read but thoroughly enjoyed. I got to play a 1st Lord and Audrey. Pics from that are in my "Cymbeline" photo album.

Tonight we start performing again. I wasn't really feeling it, partially b/c my mom had made the call about Japan at intermission and b/c the crowd was so quiet. We all had our little goofs. Jared missed a block in his fight scene w/ Chris, and they wound up w/ swords at each other's throats. It had a cool martial arts sound to it, but that didn't fit. Then at the very end, Ames and Austin are supposed to shake hands, and they missed. Plus, the cast that wasn't sick last week is feeling icky. Hopefully everyone will sleep in tomorrow and be better.

Have you met the Green Fairy?
Listening to: "Jue Jiang" - Mayday (Wu Xue Tian)

Last night was the 1st time I went to an anime club meeting in like a month. I've had conflicts w/ tests and rehearsals, and next week I've got an orgo test then. And I might be president?! Well, the grad students and non-students could always take over when I'm not there (they're just not allowed to have major officer positions).

Yesterday though was a pretty sucky day overall. I am not doing hot in any of my classes, and I did worse on my Dante re-write (to which I say, "screw that"). I had another crisis over what to do w/ my life. Eventually I'm gonna win the battle over what my major is although I might have found a possible career in the biochem field w/o going into research: forensics. I guess my research experience over the summer will determine how things go. There were other things that made me upset, but I won't get into it. However, writing another Firefly fanfic helped me vent.

Oh yeah, I know my ramblings over my orgo poster probably confused y'all, but here's just a little background. Absinthe, aka "The Green Fairy," is a very strong alcoholic drink made of herbs that's colored a bright green. It's known to cause hallucinations (remember the scene in Moulin Rouge?), and thus is banned in most countries. One of the herbs in it is wormwood, and there are molecules in wormwood, called thujones, that what makes it toxic. Scientists are still unsure of how absinthe works on the brain, but an interesting thing to note is that thujones are also found in Vicks' Vap-O-Rub.

   opening night success
Listening to: "Set Me Free" - Huang YiDA

I really should be going to bed so I don't actually get sick (I was running a fever earlier this morning). However, I'm pumped at how opening night went, considering we had a good number of audience members. I was a bit worried at first b/c the audience didn't really laugh at the funny parts. Then they started getting into it (Jared and Brian are very charismaatic so it helped). The high school group loved us. It was like having our own paparazzi when they all wanted our pictures. There were a few bobbles, but we are human after all. Mad props to my fellow actors, technical crew, and production peeps. One down, five to go!

   head...hurts...
Listening to: "Mermaid's Wintertale" - Visions of Atlantis

I've got like 5 minutes before call. (For you non-thespians, call is when actors are supposed to arrive. It's usually 1 hour before performances start). I can't believe opening night is tomorrow. >_< I'm glad that I only had 2 classes today. One of them, Middle Eastern Dance, isn't really a class. I always have a blast there. We were working on the drum solo routine, which is so cool! This afternoon, Ames (who plays Cymbeline) and I were painting shields for the play. We had a nice time getting to know one another. He's a cool guy: politically liberal and morally conservative. It's a shame he's graduating. I was playing my Asian music in the background, and he seemed to like L'Arc~en~Ciel. ^_^ Okay time to go.
