my little experiment
Listening to: Morning Musume "Night of Tokyo City" (Eric, you should listening to this one...it's not creepy-cute like some of their other stuff.)Okay, I don't have time to give a coherent report of the X Games and other things that have been going on in my life. I've been hella busy this past week so it might not be until Sunday when I catch up. However, I did want to share a funny thing that happened today. Here's the background story: this Saturday, I'm volunteering in the anime room of Owlcon, Rice's gaming convention. Since ADV is providing all the anime (and lots of goodies), I thought it'd be fun to cosplay as someone in an ADV anime series. Elizabeth thinks otherwise so she's borrowing my anime shirt. I was considering either Melissa Mao or Kaname Chidori, both from Full Metal Panic. I was planning on being Melissa, the tough army chick, since I swore I wouldn't ever be a school girl after A-kon. However, I have a skirt exactly like Kaname's, and my mom hasn't been too happy about my J-rock cosplay choices. She said that I looked good as Umi (not realizing that Asian + school girl = bad). Today was Parker's birthday. I gave him a beer cap popper, which according to Gabe, is the "best present ever." With the cosplay delimma in mind and Elizabeth out of the room, I conducted a little experiment (Sophia was shocked at my idea, but she didn't keep me from executing it). The plan: walk in the guys' room dressed as Kaname (basically white blouse w/ short turquoise skirt). Parker, Gabe, and Chris were beyond shocked. ^_^ I loved their reactions, which progressed to "OMG, I love this look." It was a bit scary to be thought of in this light, but I must admit that the attention was nice. Also, their initial reactions was totally worth it. When I told them about Owlcon, they encouraged me to go as Kaname. In fact, they wanted me to stay in the room (Chris even said, "Come and sit over here"...which was kinda creepy). Thus, I've decided to continue my experiment and see how much attention I attract Saturday. I think I've found my weapon against men, mwahaha...
