The Twists of Fate: Chapter Two: Part 3
“It’s not that noticeable,” Sarah said looking closely at it.
“How am I going to perform tonight? I can’t go out on stage with a huge bruise on my leg!”
“We’ll just put some make-up on it,” Sarah said. “Either that or we’ll just wear boots instead of our shoes.”
“You’d do that?” I asked her.
“Oh, course. What are friends, and band mates for?”
“Thanks, Sarah.”
Brian was still sitting with his back to the wall opposite me. He was looking at me as if he couldn’t believe that what Ms. Kensze said was right. I guess he though I was hurt. He kept starring at my bruise.
“Brian, I’m ok.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yep.”
He was still looking at me, as if he didn’t believe what I was saying. It kinda looked like he was trying to play the events over again in his head. I guess he was blaming himself. For what reason, I can’t say. Maybe because he had always thought it was his duty to protect me. Or maybe because he just didn’t want to see me get hurt.
“So, Karen,” Sarah attempted to break the weird silence. “Why were you running?”
I looked from Sarah to Brian. His eyes were on mine. He wanted to hear how it happened. I know he wanted to see if there was some way he could have stopped me from getting hurt. I told them all that happened. What was in the room, what Mrs. Billblock’s reaction was, and why I ran out of the door.
They sat there and thought. Both of them. Not saying a word.
“I wonder why Mr. Miouga was so interested in the computer. I mean, what do you think is in it?” Sarah asked.
“That is nothing any of you need to worry about,” Mrs. Billblock’s stepped into the room, her eyes surveying us. “Ms. Kaoru, I would be very grateful if you didn’t mention this to anyone else. I knew you would tell them as soon as you got a chance.” A small smile came across her face. “But, you mustn’t tell anyone else about the computer, and the secret room. There is nothing important in that computer. It just has my thoughts for the day. You see, it’s kind of like my own personal journal. I like to type what I’m thinking in that computer, and then at the end of the year, I like to see what I thought. It gives me something to do, and it’s sort of a place to spill my guts, as you young kids say. I’m glad that you’re not hurt, cuz I don’t know how I would of explained it to your mom.”
“Yes, yes…here’s the ice,” Mr. Kensze came into the room, carry a bag full of ice. “Why don’t you just lie down, put this ice on your knee, and take a small nap. I know you’ll feel better.”
“But, what about class?”
“Don’t worry,” Mrs. Billblock said. “I’ll talk to your 3rd hour teacher.”
“And I’ll tell him too,” Sarah chimed in. “You just get rested up for tonight, ok?”
“I told you guys I’m not hurt,” I tried to explain.
“Just lie down, you don’t have to sleep if you don’t want to. It will do you some good after that excitement to just relax for a while.” Ms. Kensze said as she pushed me down on the bed and put a blanket over me.
“We better get to class,” Sarah said. “I’ll come get you for lunch, ok?”
“O.K.”
“Come on Brian,” she said grabbing his arm. “We got to get back to class.”
Brian starred at me for a couple more seconds; his eyes were once again searching mine. I smiled at him, hoping he’d understand that I really was ok. He dropped his gaze and allowed himself to be lead out of the room by Sarah.

that's the end of chapter two. What do you guys think?
