HOLLYWOOD STARS AT OUR SCHOOL TODAY!!!
We had a school assembly today and our guest speakers were ex-gang members and founders of the organization "Suspect Entertainment". Their pasts are quite interesting and it just comes to prove the importance of friendship.

The main founder of "Suspect Entertainment", whose name was Manuel, was a gang member himself. He was hardcore about strengthening the 'family'(gang),and was the 'boss' of his neighborhood. He once had a confrontation with a member from an enemy gang member at a gasoline station. The enemy gang member took out a gun from his shoe. Both sides exchanged threats and shots, but no one got hurt. In one occasion, Manuel got in deep trouble with the law and was nearly sent to 13 years in prison. He did some reflection of his own and realized that the only ones by his side was his mom, girl friend and kids. None of his so-called "gang friends" was there to back him up. That's when he decided to get straight and take the 2nd chance of freedom to make someone out of himself. As a kid, he wanted to work in the film industry. He ended up working at Toy R' Us. He liked his job because he got to work with toys, toys he never had growing up. Now he was able to take toys home for his kids. Then he got serious about his dream and went to Hollywood to look for a entertainment related job. In the end he decided to study business and opened his own company, "Suspect Entertainment." He dedicated himself to help others who were in his situation, who wish to leave the gangs and follow their dreams of becoming Hollywood stars.

One day, this guy came looking for a job and Manuel immediately recognized him: HE WAS THE ENEMY GANG MEMBER FROM THE GAS STATION ENCOUNTER!! They exchanged handshakes, tossed their differences away and became good friends. This guy's name was Frank and he was there at our school too. He was the comedian- had a good humor about things that happened in their gangsta days. He says that he can't return to East L.A. because the gangs still recognize him there. But he's clean now and enjoys the Hollywood spotlight. Whenever he and his family wanna go to eat in East L.A. they have to go 2 cities over just to eat at Denny's, because that's how serious it is, being an ex-gang member still endangers your life.

So anyway, they were kewl and awesome people. For those who wonder what "Suspect Entertainment" is lemme explain. You've seen their actors in "Fast and the Furious", "Training Day" and "S.W.A.T". Yes, Suspect Entertainment looks for ex-gang members to star in Hollywood films. So all of those gang people you see in films with the bald heads and tattoos, they're real ex-gang members turned actors by "Suspect Entertainment".

I couldn't leave w/o their autographs of course. Being there in the ghetto of Downtown L.A. and East L.A., I know what life is like there. Many of my relatives live there. It's a war site. No one is safe at all. You have to watch your back 24/7. You don't know if you will ever comeback home. I'm glad that "Suspect Entertainment" is there to help those who wanna leave and be someone. Some are born into the 'hood and have no choice but to grow up as gang members because that's all there is in those ugly areas.
