Jail
Phase-01

Cagalli looked up to the celing and sighed.

She flopped down on her so-called bed and almost yelled out loud in pain.

“Ow!” She whispered, rubbing the back of her head.

She smiled bitterly.

“Oops,” she mumbled. “I forgot the beds in here are made out of solid concrete.”

Where was she again?

Oh yeah, she was in a jail cell.

Suddenly she heard the door open. She quickly jumped back.

“What, you’re going to criticize our beds now?” sneered a boy with white hair just up to his shoulders.

He and another boy with a brown tan and blond hair laughed.

“You Naturals have to have everything perfect, don’t you?”

She heard the smooth sound of a knife against the bars, and backed away.

They laughed at her once again. She gritted her teeth.

“Yzak! Dearka!” she heard another voice come up from behind. “She may be a prisoner, but you can’t do anything harmful to her yet.”

Wait one minute.

This voice sounds familiar.

Oh! It was that boy with the blue hair, and with those piercing emerald eyes. What was his name?

A warm feeling rose upon here, a feeling that you’re not alone, a feeling that you have someone in here you’re familiar with. Athrun Zala, was it?

He turned to her, and a surprised look appeared on his face.

“Well, well.” He chuckled. “If it isn’t Princess Cagalli Yula Attha. Welcome aboard.”

Okay, feeling’s over.

“Don’t call me that!” She shouted.

“Oh, gomen, Ms. Attha.”

Snickering again.

“Well Athrun, you know her?” said this Yzak person.

“Not very well, but yes, I do.” He admitted, blushing at the moment when they first met.

“Well, Athrun, we’ll be in our rooms if you need us,” Yzak sneered. “Though I think you won’t,” He added, glancing at Cagalli.

They both heard bursts of laughter as they disappeared behind the door.

Athrun stared at her.

Cagalli looked away.

Athrun stared at her.

Cagalli looked away.

Athrun stared at her.

“What do you WANT?!” She sighed.

He stared at her in an amused way.

“Nothing,” he said.

“Just enjoy your lunch.” He slid a tray beneath the bar gaps.

Cagalli looked at her meal. Not bad for jail food.

She took a bite out of a sandwich.

Her eyes lit up. “These are good,” she said.

“Much better-tasting than I expect a lowly prisoner deserves.” She rolled her eyes.

He smiled. “Well, now that you mention it,” he laughed.

“THIS is the lunch that a lowly prisoner deserves, Ms. Attha.” He said, as he slid a tray complete with bread, butter, a cup of water, and a packet of raisins.

Gee. It’s luxury here.

Cagalli bit into the bread.

Her eyes widened, and she opened her mouth. Her tooth wiggled violently.

“That thing… It’s a rock disguised cleverly as bread!” She exclaimed.

Athrun Zala laughed. “I assure you, it’s not.”

He sat down and retrieved the prisoner food from the bars.

He started to eat it.

Seems to have trouble digesting the bread.

Cagalli glanced at him.

“So… If that was the jail food, then whose lunch is this?” She said, as she took the sandwich and bit it.

“Mine’s.”

Her eyes widened. She looked away and blushed uncontrollably. “A—Arigatou-gozaimas.”

He smiled.

“It’s nothing.”

There was something reassuring about his smile that makes you think for just a moment that everything was going to be alright.

She was going to be safe, the war would end, and peace will finally come.

They ate their lunch quietly, enjoying the company of her and him.
