fun with Max/MSP

Ah, the good old days of the early '00s right before Autechre decided to drop the really cool meter-bending controlled chaos of Confield in favor of traditional sequencers. Plus the video itself is nifty as hell.

ALL HAIL TO THE NEW KING... PARTYMAN

The best part of this video is where Prince screws with the monkey dressed as Batman.

No, seriously, I'm almost done this time.
Well, the Kasimasi piece is almost done (and only two months late, too). I just need to edit the hell out of the thing and then sketch a little one page ending, and it's over with.

Contrary to my expectations this was much harder to write than the Saikano one, although it ended up shorter. The central phenomenon in Saikano (eros) shows up through the entire thing and basically always stays the same, so the task of writing was just to gradually uncover it and show it out in a well-organized way. With Kasimasi I'm looking towards the movements of one scene (although one with parallels throughout the rest of the series), which is extremely suggestive but very unclear, and in the process I have to set aside the main concerns of the latter half of the show (how to behave justly towards the one you love). Not only that, but I have to trace the phenomenon which takes place in that one scene (which I have given the somewhat obscure name "tilling") through its transformations until it arrives at the form it takes for those of us who live in in the era of technology. And I have to do ALL that without making value judgments.

I think my reading is a good one, although I'm worried that it departs from its source much more than the Jigoku Shoujo or Saikano ones. As usual, I'm just hoping someone can get something out of it.

Hear that, Ergo Proxy fans? Gunbuster was naming characters after psychoanalysts before it got popular.

the

This is really the best set of opening credits this season, but uh if some authority figure were to catch me watching it... well, I can't think of any possible way I could justify myself. There is no jury in the world that would acquit.

who exactly let these guys play a major concert event?

Whenever I watch this I keep picturing the Predator down in the audience (he's a big NIN freak) looking up at the stage and wondering where the band is.

THE HUSH OF ONE MINUTE, 36 SECONDS

FUN TRIVIA!! The Macross II OST was Shiro Sagisu's biggest project between doing Nadia in '90 or thereabouts and Evangelion in '96. Despite how disappointing Macross II was on uh pretty much all reports, the OST still has what's probably Sagisu's best work on actual songs rather than instrumental BGM (well, unless you count the many Fly Me To The Moon covers or that cheerful tune "Komm Susser Tod").

OH YEAAA~~~ OH NOOO~~~

I've been a Tekkaman Blade fan since the old days of venomoids and scottish accents on UPN. The original japanese version is helped by the fact that it's got two of the rockingest ops ever to come out of the early '90s.
