the new season
I've been incredibly busy with school, but since I don't think it'll take that much time I've decided to start keeping a scorecard of the many, many, many new shows that are just now beginning to hit the fansub circuit, particularly to show which ones I am actually watching. It should be fairly obvious: the circled ones are in (for at least one more episode, anyways), the crossed out ones ended up hitting the recycling bin sometime in the course of their 23 minutes, and the NOs are ones I will not even try. As for the ones left blank, they're either unsubbed as yet or I just haven't gotten around to them. Follow the adventures in the next few weeks as I further fill this thing out!

So. Does anyone else find Shugo Chara absolutely brilliant? Good god, they constructed a bright, sugary magical girl show around what is basically an identity crisis. I'm kind of ashamed that I like it as much as I do. Also, Blue Drop reminds me of Utakata in a weird way.

I think I promised Dagger I would do one more of these, but god this one hurts. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING Japan has done has set off my WRONG alarm as much as this series and the manga has. So why not make it even MORE overtly sexual than it already is?

Back on the internet for one day, and look what I'm up to.
My internet's been out for about a week, so I'm now frantically trying to catch up with things. I have been watching the new Eva Rebuild trailer quite a bit, though, and- oh, hell, who am I kidding, it's just another damn rickroll. The imagery does give a strange weight to the hokey pop music, though. Watch and enjoy.

kind of stoked about the Eva movies now.
Man, going by this footage, they were actually holding back on us with that trailer from a few weeks ago. This looks REALLY GOOD, in a way that gets me thinking - for the first time in a few months, at least - that maybe this isn't just a cynical cash-grab. Well, maybe it still is. But if so, it's an incredibly gorgeous one.

There's also some stuff going around about what they're doing with the opening credits. I'm not sure if I like the new song, but maybe it'll grow on me.
