I guess this is going to be Evangelion week?

I'm absolutely fascinated with this: Gainax actually went and shot a ten-minute live action sequence for the second half of End of Eva, which was (I guess) eventually replaced with the "'hey, what are dreams?' 'dreams?' 'yes, dreams'" bit we're all familiar with... and now, the cut material has somehow found its way onto the internet. I've been chewing on it for the past day or so; it's slower than hell, but incredibly haunting. You can definitely tell this is still the product of Anno circa 1998... all the thinking from EoE is still in here, although (if anything) even MORE obscure than the rest of the movie. As can be expected, I'm bashing my head against the wall trying to work myself through this thing.

"You don't really know if it's love until after you hang up the phone."

"Whenever we put a little distance between us, I get confused and wonder whether I even really like him."

What the hell does that MEAN?
