hey I find this on animeark.com
In order for a genin to be promoted to a chuunin, they first pass the chuunin exam. The chuunin exam is no simple matter, it is series of exams that determines if a genin is capable of becoming a chuunin.
First Part
The first part of the chuunin exam is the written test that consisted of ten total questions. For the first nine questions, genins must aquire there answers from cheating. The questions are almost impossible for genins to solve so to find the answers, they must cheat. Two chuunins who knew the answers were snuck in as the targets of cheating. They were graded on how well their information gathering skills were. At times, information was more precious than life itself, and in missions or battlefields, information is disputed over the lives of people. Those who were cheating foolishy were failed. After the nine questions, they had a choice of taking the tenth question or not. If you took the tenth question and got it correct, you would pass, but if you got it wrong, you would forever stay a genin those who choose to take the last question. If you refused to take the tenth question, you and your three-person team would fail and have to take it next year. In the end, the ones who stayed to take the tenth and final question, would pass. Actually, getting the answers correct or not didn't really matter, because all it took the pass was a matter of choices.
Second Part
The second part of the exam is surivival. They must get either a Heaven scroll or an Earth scroll, the opposite one of whichever they were given in the beginning. The team must then make their way to a tower, where their next exam awaits them. However if a there is a situation where there are too many examinees left, they must go first through a preliminary battle to decrease the number of participants.
In the preliminary match, the participants will have an one on one match which are choosen randomly by an electronic bulletin board. The fight stops until one person dies, gets knocked out, or gives up the match. But at times, the judge will stop the match to prevent any unnesessary deaths. There are no rules. To advance to the third exam, they must win the fight.
Third Part
The third and final exam is the tournament. It is hosted in a stadium viewed by many people. There they must fight each other in a dual, where they show off their skills and techniques. The council will decide who passes or fails. Meaning, even if you win, it is not certain if you will become a chuunin or not. So either way, you have no way of knowing if you will become a chuunin. Seeing in how hard the chuunin exam is, that is why it is very crucial for them to learn all they can from their jounin instructor.
