Chapter 2

Minoru headed for the grocery store, where he had decided that his sister Terra would be. He chuckled to himself; it looked like it would be another very boring day. An Alter he hadn’t seen before walked right past him, a gigantic katana strapped across her back. Normally, Minoru wouldn’t have given her a second glance. Something about her set off warning lights.

“I’ve gotta find Terra, and fast.” Minoru said to himself, his ponytail full of silver hair whipping behind him as he ran. He had found that he almost had a 6th sense; usually, when he sensed danger, it was right around the bend. Terra walked past him quietly, holding a basket full of supplies. Minoru skidded to a halt, and caught up with her, surprised that she’d already finished shopping. It usually took her hours.

“Oh, hi Minoru.” Terra mumbled, her long, sandy blonde hair covering her face, “why’re you in such a rush? You usually don’t wake up this early.” She didn’t make eye contact with her adoptive brother, and merely stared into the basket. Minoru knew his sister was timid, but she always spoke clearly to him. Something must’ve spooked her too.

“Terra, we need to hide. Something bad is going to happen, I can feel it…” Minoru muttered, trying not to draw attention to himself, “you can feel it too, can’t you?” His sister nodded at the comment, relieving Minoru. Even though he and his sister weren’t truly related, they both had a sort of ability to sense danger.

“Yeah, but where can we hide? Everyone here knows us and what if you have another attack?” Terra asked worriedly, now making eye contact with her brother. He scoffed as she referred to the strange, seizure like blackouts that he had. They weren’t as frequent, but were much more dangerous now.

“Don’t worry. Let’s just find a place to hide before--“Minoru began, his sentence cut short by a blood-curdling screech. Turning quickly, Minoru saw the source of the trouble. A crumpled body lay before the woman with the large katana, blood splattered all over the dome, creating a gaping entryway. The woman whistled, and the sound of rumbling was heard. It easily could’ve been a stampede, but it wasn’t.

“Hadden Assassination Squad!” The woman barked, “kill all you see, and if you can find any that look like ideal test subjects, bring them back with you!” The woman cackled maniacally, pointing her sword out toward the city, the screaming of the alters and the soldiers intermingling.

“Minoru, run!!” Terra commanded, pushing her brother out of the way. He began to protest, but she shoved an apple into his mouth and forced him to leave. Minoru hated this side of his sister. He preferred it when he could protect her, and didn’t like feeling helpless. Nonetheless, he ran, glancing back at his sister. She was throwing her food supplies at the enemy, knocking some out with her throws.

“Heh. She’s still quite the pitcher.” Minoru muttered to himself, heading toward his house. Suddenly, his body felt numb, and he seized up. The blackouts were happening again. With his last lick of conciousness, he glanced over his shoulder, watching as the soldiers overpowered his sister. Inside, he screamed, but it wouldn’t escape his mouth. And then, all went black.

“We’ve captured a few specimens, and slaughtered all that were found.” Izayoi’s voice boomed harshly over an intercom, to a man behind a chair. He chuckled, and turned to his bodyguard, who was sitting in a chair on the other side of the desk. The boy blew a big bubble, then snapped it back into his mouth before it splattered all over his glasses.

“Very good, Izayoi.” The man said crisply into the speaker, “return to headquarters for debriefing.” His lackey chuckled, and pushed the button. He always spoke to the officers, as he was second in command. Even though he was young, he had an extensive knowledge of battle tactics and knew every vital pressure point in the human body.

“Oh Izayoi!!” He said in a sing song voice, receiving a disgusted grunt on the other side, “don’t forget to make sure all of the subjects will be fit enough to survive the testing. If any prove weak, kill them, or return them to their slaughtered village.” The young man giggled sadistically, moving his pink hair away from his feminine face.

“Yes sir, Otomaru.” Izayoi responded, disgust clearly evident in her voice. She turned off her P.A. and headed back to her ship, a girl with sandy-blonde hair tucked under her arm.

Remember, next chapter for both stories is on Saturday!!
