AEGFF, Chapter 20!!!
Well, I'm sorry this is so short, but I couldn't think of a way to lengthen it. The next chapters will be longer and alot better. I swear.
Chapter 20
The rush of air passing Tera’s head was intense. She squinted a little, but noticed how dirty Chad was playing. He knocked other players out of his way. Tera frowned and lay as flat as she possibly could, catching up with him quickly. He made a fake salute, but Tera winked and flew past him, waving as she went. The young man didn’t seem to be enjoying that fact at all.
***
“GO TERA!!” Everyone cheered simultaneously from Anna’s couch and floor. Anna was avidly into the game, glad to see her daughter, even injured, was still holding her own. Ms. Marpole applauded and cheered hard as well; she’d been Tera’s first friend at the college, although she made a bunch a few days after her arrival. Everyone except for those who didn’t know her had a strong bond with her. The commentary was incredibly descriptive; everything they did seemed to be told by the anchorman.
“Look at her go!” The anchorman crooned, “even injured Miss Aoki is still making her way quickly. She’s making all her able-bodied opponents look like they’re sitting still! Oh, but wait, it looks like Chad of the Gammas is catching up! He’s side by side with Miss Aoki, and… OH MY! It seems he’s body-checked Tera’s luge board and hit her leg in the process! She’s slowing down a little, folks…”
The commentary had been cut off in the living room briefly by Anna. She’d shouted something so foul and derogatory, I cannot put it into text. This time, she didn’t bother to apologize, but booed at Chad every time the scumbag came on screen. Goofy and Ms. Marpole took up the booing as well, shortly followed by Pistol, then Peg, and lastly, Pete.
***
At the exact same moment Anna had sworn, Max had yelled something equally vile at the Gamma front man. This earned him a stare from Bobby and P.J., but he chose to ignore it. The commentary was being cut off by the boos and cheers, so he couldn’t tell what was going on. However, he saw a streak of blue and yellow; his team’s colors. They’d streaked past the black and red of the Gammas, and had cut through the ribbon. Tera had won! Max ran up and hugged her, glad to see she was safe. Then, she insisted he lead her to her crutches, but not before waving at the camera.
“Shout out to my family and anyone else who’s watching!” Tera shouted, when one had come up to interview her, “you guys rock hardcore! WOO!!” Then, she began the rest of the interview, glad to be done with the luge run. Her leg was sore beyond belief, but she was glad she’d done it. Once she’d retrieved her crutches, she prepared herself to watch the others do their events.
***
The plane ride home had been uneventful; they were all too surprised to say much. They’d come in second place; it was a marvel that they’d lost when they were doing so well. Tera, however, took this the hardest. She hadn’t gotten to take her friends to a Canadian drinking party, where they were all legal, she hadn’t gotten to say goodbye to Frankie and Julia… and since their team had lost… she ended up having to go on a date with Chad. It was scheduled for early January, so they’d be fine. At least they’d be home for Christmas.
Once they’d gone back to Tera’s house, they found a strange sight, one that lifted all their spirits. Anna, Sora, Hana, Pistol, Peg, Pete, Goofy and Ms. Marpole were holding up a large banner, which read, “WELCOME BACK, HOMETOWN HEROES!” P.J. smiled and hugged his sister and mother; he hadn’t seen them in a long time. Max hugged his parents, and Tera was surrounded by her own family. None of them had contact with Bobby’s parents, but they’d shown up out of no where and hugged their own son.
“I’d have liked to see you win, but 2nd isn’t all bad.” Anna smiled, glad they’d got to the finals, “c’mon you guys, I made a Christmas dinner. I think we’ll let Max carve the turkey this time.” She smiled and opened her front door, allowing everyone inside. Anna always planned ahead; she’d made enough food for a small army. Essentially, and in her defense, they practically had a small army in the kitchen now.
End of Part 1
This wasn't as long as I'd intended, and yeah, I didn't put in alot. I didn't have much motivation for this chapter though. The next ones will be better. And even some FLUFFY ROMANCE tossed in! Woo woo. Read and review, please.
