Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Review

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS!! YOU READ AT YOUR OWN RISK OF REVEALING SPOILERS SUCH AS: PLOT TWISTS, DEATHS, THE ENDING, AND VARIOUS OTHER ASPECTS OF THE BOOK.

There is very little I can coherently say about the seventh Harry Potter book that won’t make me sound a rather lot like Professor Dumbledore when he’s planning on “saying a few words”. So I shall start this soon to be very extensive review of the book but getting a few inane and terribly irrelevant sequences of words out of my system before I can truly try to bring the book to justice. Ahem…

OMFG THAT WAS THE BEST EFFING BOOK IN THE ENTIRE SERIES!!!! I LOVE YOU SNAAAAAAPE! DRACO YOU’RE NOT AS BAD AS I THOUGHT!!! NOOOOOOO!!! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DIIIIIEEEE? WASN’T AN EAR ENOUGH? THEY JUST HAD A BABY!!!! OMG THEY GOT MARRIED!! AIEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Yes…

It was, without a doubt one of Rowling’s finest works. It was nonstop action, tension, suspense, and kept you turning the pages until there were none left to turn. I myself couldn’t even take my eyes away to go see my poor kitty (I love you Tigerlilly!). Snape has now earned my undying respect and absolute devotion, and I am terribly ashamed to admit I took one of the stickers blazoning the bold message, “SNAPE IS A VERY BAD MAN!” My humility will be endless when my mother gets wind of the book; that dirty, Snape loving…

I myself found it appalling, and waterworks inducing, when I saw all of the wonderful, wonderful people who had to die in this final installment. I was crying on and off all day, to tell you the truth, and everyone in my family that reads the books were telling me to suck it up so I didn’t ruin the experience for them. How rude.

Let us have a moment of silence for those brave witches and wizards (an owl, and a wonderful house elf). Mad-Eye Moody, Fred Weasley, Nymphadora Tonks, Remus Lupin, Colin Creevy, Dobby, Hedwig, and above almost all else, dear Professor Severus Snape, I would like to hold a moment of silence for the bravest, truest, and perhaps most misunderstood wizard I had the pleasure of loathing for six and a half novels. Professor Severus Snape, I apologize for not believing in you when it felt like you were the slimiest, lowest git in the wizarding world. You have my deepest and most profound apologies. (I must add here Harry was extremely tear jerking when I found out his son’s name was Albus Severus Potter, named after perhaps the two most influential wizards Harry ever encountered while at Hogwarts. Thank you for that, Miss Rowling.)

In terms of Mr. Draco Malfoy, I think things could have gone a little better with that little prat, however during the scene when Harry, Ron, and Hermione were taken to the Malfoy home, I was rather surprised that he didn’t give a definite answer to whether it was them or not. I suppose he could have had misgivings, which makes me respect him a little bit more than I have. I hope Tom Felton read what a serious annoyance he’s going to have to play later. Although I do admit, Crabbe’s death seemed to have struck a chord with Malfoy, who seemed to think that his lot were pretty much impervious to death?

It was rather pathetic, however, when Malfoy was still under the impression that he was, when the trio had to save them again. Seriously, Draco? Go run to mummy, okay? I’m kidding, however I still don’t think Draco is all that appealing (just kidding, he’s so hot, just seriously feeble… I wonder if I can ever forgive that fatal flaw it his character… [maybe :3])

I need a novel (maybe) to rant about Kreacher! OMGWTFBBQ~~!! Geez the poor guy just needed a little TLC, you know? Then from there he was absolutely amazing! Almost… you know… likeable! He was all cleaned up, and the house was spotless and everything was hunky dory! I just wish they were able to see him before the mass house elf phalanx that came to fight with them, that was fabulous.

Umbridge was completely revolting, like usual, and I just cheered when she got stunned! SWEET! And it was just… yeah.

Anyway.

I don’t’ think I would be able to even completely word the amount of growing up that Harry has done since book one. Physically, emotionally, mentally, all of that. Walking to his death, with his parents, Lupin and Sirius by his side, he faced the epitome of death, the feared Lord Voldemort. And, in the end, thanks in part to Hermione, Ron, and Neville Longbottom, he was able to put an end to this dark wizard once and for all.

I am not bashing, flaming or any thing else of the sort. However, I felt the end of Voldemort, it seemed a tad anticlimactic. I meant, I think even Bellatrix’s end by that wonderful woman Mrs. Weasley and more… umph to it. However, it was amazing, Harry was amazing, and Voldemort…

He’s really, really gone for good.

I feel very… sad about that. I should have taken my time with the book, then I would have been terribly afraid to come online and look anywhere!! But I don’t regret reading it straight through. In fact, I’m rather glad I did. I don’t think it would have made a difference if I had drawn it out.

Thank you to the amazing J.K. Rowling for creating one of the most fabulous, innovative, creative and perhaps enrapturing story I have ever had the pleasure of reading, seven beautiful books that lay in my bookshelf to be read over and over, to pass to my children when I have them, and of course, to ponder on for days and weeks to come, hoping that I can get a little more out of them just by believing in a little bit a magic that she has supplied us with in this somewhat dismal world.
