Poppies and doves to you. Incidentally, 2000 hits!
So, it's Remembrance Day.
This, of course, means that today is a time to remember all the brave Canadian men and women who lost their lives and loved ones during WW2, along with every one who is dying, or ever has died, in any war, anywhere.
The majority of people are able to grasp this concept and its extreme value, however, the number of people who seem to find it "cool" to disregard this event absolutely sicken me.
People who giggle and swear and make stupid jokes during the one minute of silence we are supposed to stand and observe, along with the people who seem to have no idea as to what this day is about, really ought to have their heads blown off, just to see what it would feel like.
But today is supposed to be a day to promote peace, so acting upon how much they diserve such treatment would really be the same as the behavior they display, when you get right down to it.
However, there is still something particularly heartwarming about seeing every one, everywhere, regardless of their race, gender, or creed, wearing a symbol that commemerates all the people who have fought, and who are fighting, for peace around the world.
It's always interesting to hear what young people have to say about the war, and how it affected their families, mostly because it was only after WW2 ended that immigration really, really, picked up, resulting in every one landing...here.
So, when you get down to it, today is important. Really, really, important.
