Smaller

To all who look at me,
Proud and bold am I.
To all who ask me,
I tell with the most painful truth.

To all who know me,
I am a friend.
But to all who gaze at my heart,
I am you.

I am a mirror of all around me,
I reflect onto what I see.
I portray a brighter image of you.

I do all I can to make you happy,
I do what I might to open the door.
I try to think more of others,
And in doing so I hurt myself.

I am a small fraction of the world,
I can be a bigger part of something.
I am only a small grain of sand,
But I help to make up the beach.
