Oh, Tedium!
| I sat in a conference for two hours with one student today. He's concerned about his comp paper and grade. His first language isn't English, and he thinks that means he should be an exception to my grading policies. However, I have two girls in the same class who have different first languages and they are the top two students in the class. He forced me to try to say something he does well in comp. I struggled to say "organization." It's not something he does well, only the thing he doesn't blow at. I feel like poo. I hate my students. Two hours!
Anywayz--I went to get coffee today at Caribou. I decided to buy a red canister because it would match my other kitchen stuff. It was supposed to come with a 1/2 pound of beans, though I didn't know about that. The guy who works there insisted on seeing I get the free coffee beans (which was a decent thing to do), but he never checked to see if the bag was already in the canister, which it was. I didn't discover his mistake until I got to the office. Now, I'm in the crux of an ethical delimma. Should I return the extra 1/2 pound of coffee. It's just expensive enough that I feel like I've stolen something. :( |
