The Sickness Called Paradise

CHAPTER 1:: The Way It Is
One cold, winter day Seika was walking through a dense forest with her little sister, Suki, clinging to her side. Suki was afraid of the dark and couldn’t see well in the thick fog that had covered the area in the last hour or so. The trees scraped the sky with their height and the wildlife was sure to make every noise that they could. Suki clung tighter. “Sister, when are we going to get out of this forest? Im scared.” Suki said laying her head on her sister’s hip as they slowly walked cautiously down the path. “Be quiet!” Seika snapped, “It wont be long, but keep your mouth shut until we are out.” Suki did as she was told and kept walking strait ahead until they both saw a bright light at the end of the foggy, dark, forest tunnel. “What the hell is that?” Seika said to herself squinting to try to get a better look at the mysterious light ahead of them. The light looked like it was… moving?! Uh oh, it was a vehicle! “Get behind me Suki. I don’t know what that is but it cant be good so stay back no matter what. You understand me?” Seika looked at her sister awaiting the answer. Suki only nodded and stepped a few feet back out of the way.
The light drew closer and Seika prepared to fight if at all necessary. The vehicle came to a screeching halt and the driver got off. It was a motorcycle, easy to steal… “Hey, are you alright? What is a pretty lady like you doing in a place like this huh?” He said pulling a gun out of his pocket. “Oh great, a pervert…” Seika said to herself as the man came closer. He pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger. He smiled and looked over at his ‘kill’ but was massively surprised to find she wasn’t even there. He felt something tap his shoulder. He turned around to discover Seika behind him. “How the hell did you move that fast?!” He managed to say before Seika slit his throat with a quick snap of her jaws. The last thing the man saw was a white wolf goring at his throat. Seika shook her head trying to fling some of the meat and blood off of her fur. She was a wolf. One of the last few left on the earth. She and her sister were the last left. Or so they thought…
The next morning Seika awoke to her sister still sleeping on the pad of grass they made the night before. “She should be asleep for a while…” Seika got up and walked into the woods to go find a good kill to eat. She turned into her wolf form and ran up a hill to get a better view. She scouted the area looking for some kind of game to run down, she didn’t see any deer, but what she did see shocked her. Was it a wolf? She didn’t know. It looked somewhat like a wolf! She looked harder at the creature eating on a deer. It… was a wolf! She bolted down the hill toward the wolf. “Hey!” She growled. “Who are you?! This is MY territory!” She fluffed up and snarled at the blue and silver wolf. *strange color for a wolf* He growled back and fluffed up to meet Seika’s height. “By who’s authority? I didn’t see your name on anything!” He lunged at Seika with his powerful jaws and dug his large fangs into her neck. She yelled in pain and latched onto his leg shaking her head to and fro ripping it open. He backed off a bit and let go. He white fur was now red with blood. She panted and bolted at him this time and bit down on his muzzle and tore that open, he retaliated by slashing her over her left eye with his long claws. She whimpered, lowering her head and covering her eye with her paw. “Heh, how pitiful can a wolf be? You are a disgrace to the wolves left on this planet.” He circled her awaiting her reaction. She stood. “Well, I may be a disgrace, but I live with the pride of several wolves. You cant tell me my place, but I can sure as hell put you in yours!” She jolted toward him at lightning speed and head butted him right under the jaw. He flew a few feet into the air and hit the ground hard. He got up frantically looking around, Seika was nowhere to be seen. “Gah! Where the hell did she go?!” He wheeled around in circles looking for her. But she was where he least expected him to be. “Here I am!” She leapt from the tree she was sitting in and dove down and landed on top of him, pinning him to the ground. “Accept your defeat and I might let you live stranger!” She growled at him as he desperately struggled to get up, but it was useless. He sighed sarcastically. “I give up, just get off of me…” He said relaxing. “Hah, I knew you had it in you.” Seika said stepping off of him. He sat up and dusted himself off, then stood. “Who… are you? Ive never fought a wolf, especially a girl, with so much skill. I have to know your name.” He sat back down. Seika looked kind of concerned, but decided it was alright. “My name is Seika.” she stood up. “And you are?” He stood to meet her eyes. “Im Sliver, it’s an honor to meet you. And, if you don’t mind my asking, where are you headed?” She turned to leave. “Have you ever heard of… well, paradise?” Sliver pricked his ears up. “Well, yeah, what of it?” Seika turned back around. “I’m going there.” He gasped. “What?! Why are you going to find paradise? Don’t you know if you succeed the world will end?!” Sliver frantically said walking to her. “Yes, of course I know. And that’s why im going to find it.” His eyes widened. “Well, count me in!” He yelled running up to her side. “Whoa, really? You want to go?” Seika said surprised. He nodded and laughed a little. She giggled and turned into her human form. As did he. Seika blushed. “Man, he’s kinda cute…” She thought while she walked beside him up the hill.
The two arrived at the camp where Suki was still sleeping on her pad of grass. Seika slowly shook her awake. “Hey, get up runt. We have to get going.” Suki rolled over and rubbed her eyes. She looked at the strange man standing over Seika. “Ack! Sis look out!” Suki puffed up and growled at him. “Whoa, easy kiddo… I wont hurt you ^^” Sliver said backing up a step. Seika stood up. “Sorry about that Sliver, this is my sister Suki, she’s with me.” He nodded and knelt down next to Suki. “Hi, im Sliver and im joining your journey to paradise. ^^” She smiled and introduced herself as well. That night Seika couldn’t help but think of why they met. Sliver and her. “Well, I guess that’s just the way it is…” She said rolling over and falling asleep.

Chapter 2:: Evil
The three were making their way towards a huge, dense forest just about when the sun was setting again. “Which woods are these Sliver? Im sure you know this place better than I do…” Seika said looking kinda concerned and clinging to his sleeve. “Its called the Forest of Death… most wolves have set out through here and not one has returned. The legend says that at night, man eating bugs devour you in you sleep. Its so quick, so silent, that you pass from this life never knowing what the hell happened.” He looked over at the girls who had stopped walking. They were clinging to each other with fear. “I don’t wanna go in there Seika…” Suki said beginning to cry. Seika was trembling and agreed. “I think we could camp out here and begin walking in the morning so the day light cam guide us through… don’t you think so Sliver?” Seika said frantically hoping he would agree. He sighed. “Fine, I guess it’ll be alright if we stay here for tonight, but we have to leave early to make good time out of the forest alright?” The two nodded in agreement and went to set up camp.
The morning light shone through the evil-looking clouds as Seika and Sliver packed up the things and started through the forest. Suki, still asleep, was being carried by Sliver. The situation would probably traumatize the poor girl, so they kept her asleep. It didn’t seem so bad the first few hours of walking. The sun kept the path lit just enough that they could see where they were going.
Morning turned to noon, which quickly turned to evening… then slowly… night. “This isn’t right, I cant see the end. We’ve been walking for hours, how big is this forest anyway?” Seika said picking up an exhausted Suki onto her shoulders to be carried. “I don’t know, I’ve never been in here before, the best we can do is keep moving forward.” Sliver said with a slight shakiness in his voice. Silence was all around them, all until a high-pitched screech filled the woods with terror. “Ah! What was that?!” Suki said clinging to her sister desperately. Something ran in front of sliver making him fall over. He hit the ground and bolted back up in an instant. “Okay, everyone stop walking and watch out for the bugs. They all turned into their wolf forms and formed a star-like formation to see all sides. Their wolf vision could see perfectly in the dark and the dog-sized insects were everywhere. Seika flattened her ears against her ears against her head and snarled at the creatures. Millions of them surrounded the wolves, circling them, ready to feast on some fresh meat. After what seemed like hours of encircling, the bugs, in a huge wave, dropped onto the defenseless wolves in a giant blanket of black. They tore at the flesh of the helpless canines as they desperately tried to fight them off. One by one, the wolves picked themselves free. Seika, badly injured, Suki, moderately hurt. The fresh sun of morning slowly shone through the dense branches, the pain stopped. Seika opened her eyes. The bugs were retreating. Back into the darkness of the forest. She painfully got up. “Suki, are you alright?” She said to her little sister in front of her. “Yeah, im fine… wait, where’s Sliver?!” Seika shot all the way up and spun around frantically. “Sliver! Where are…” She stopped. Seika saw a pile of blood and fur that resembled Sliver. She dragged herself over to him and almost puked. There wasn’t much of him left… just a mass of blood, and fur. She turned around and gagged. “Oh my god…” She crawled away from what was left of him. “Well? What’s wrong sis?” Suki said slowly standing. “He’s dead…” Seika said between tears. “What?!” Suki fell onto her knees. How would they get by? Sliver was their guide… and friend. But they still had to find their way out of that hell hole. And they would if it was the last thing they did.
The giant tunnel of trees began to fade as they neared the end of the forest. There was a light at the end of the darkness. They were out! The sun hurt the sister’s eyes, but they were glad to see it again. Even if Sliver was gone, they were struck with a new found courage to find paradise, for their parents, and for Sliver too!

Chapter 3:: Koda and Lili
After the Sliver fiasco, the sisters didn’t let each other out of their sights. The paranoia was getting onto them. Seika sat up and stretched her aching muscles. She looked over at Suki who was still soundly asleep. She walked stiffly over to Suki and placed her long, silky tail around her shivering body. “Why does this happen… why now… why ME?” Seika said to herself laying down again next to Suki. But she couldn’t sleep. Too many things were on her mind. Sliver, paradise, and the simple concern for her and her sister’s well-being. She lay her head down with high hopes of getting some kind of rest, but a sudden rustle in a nearby bush startled her. She pricked her ears up and sat up. The bushes rustled again and again until a flash of brown came through them. It was a wolf! “Oh, not again…” Seika stood. “Who’s there?!” She barked. The canine stiffened, and turned around to face her. It was a mutt, Seika could already tell. The fur was too smooth to be wolf, but to long to be dog… it had to be a mutt. “Who are you and what are you doing on my territory?!” The intruder glared, but didn’t attack. “I think the question is what are YOU doing in my pack’s territory?” He said lifting his head. Revealing a big scar over his left eye. Seika stepped back a step. “What do you mean?” As she said that a small, brown pup crawled under his feet. “Who is that papa?” She said shrinking into his shadow. Seika took all of the fighting anger she had away. She had no reason to hurt this wolf and his pup. “W… we were just leaving.” Seika said turning with Suki and starting to walk away. “Hey!” The wolf-dog said as they were leaving. “Who are you anyway?” He said with no anger in his voice. “The name’s Seika, and this is my little sister Suki. And you are?” He stepped fully out if the bush. “I’m Koda, and this is my daughter Lili.” Suki awed. “She’s adorable! ^^” Suki said smiling at the little pup. The pup smiled back. “Also, are you in fact a wolf?” Koda asked. “Well, yeah… You?” “Half, my mom was a husky.” ‘I knew it!’ Seika said softly to herself. “Well, Koda, you interested in coming with us to paradise? The more the better.” He seemed to think for a second on Seika’s offer. “Sure, why not. You want to go Lili?” She nodded happily and stood in the light. She was a reddish brown, unlike her father, who was dark and light brown. She must’ve come after her mother. Seika smiled. “Welcome to the journey ^^” The two nodded and happily joined the group, on the road to paradise.

Chapter 4:: Meeting Up With Others!
Not long after Koda and Lili joined up with the two sisters, they became friends! Seika and Suki did in fact like having the company. The two had been alone for years, well, not including the brief meeting of Sliver. But they managed to get by fine by their selves. “Do we even know what paradise is even like? I mean, for all we know it could be hell.” Koda said during one of the pack’s brief breaks. “I wouldn’t know.” Seika said. :All I know is its where us wolves belong.” Koda sighed… “But im only HALF wolf. What if I cant go to paradise with all the others, and you guys.” He actually sounded disturbed by his thought. “I don’t know Koda, I just hope you can come with us ^^.” She smiled and called for Suki and Lili who were out in the nearby field playing. They didn’t come. There was something wrong. Seika trotted over to the field to just be tackled over by a foreign wolf. It was black and blue, her long fur was as silky and soft as Seika’s. Seika rolled over and snarled at the wolf. “Who the hell are you?!” The wolf didn’t answer. She just attacked Seika, biting her on the left shoulder. Seika whimpered and turned and bit her neck. The wolf seemed to feel no pain, it just tore deeper into Seika’s flesh. For a split second, Seika could see Koda, fighting another wolf, who was solid black with dark blue feet and tail. Seika came back to the fight. She whirled around, flinging the wolf off of her. Seika ran at her, sinking her claws into the soft flesh under her belly. The wolf yowled in pain and jumped back, pushing off her feet, and landed on top of Seika. Seika bucked and thrashed until the wolf fell off. Seika pinned her to the ground with her paws. The wolf couldn’t move. Blood ran off of Seika and streamed onto the wolf. “I’ll ask you again before I kill you, who are you and what are you doing here?!” The wolf was silent. “Mamaaaa!” A tiny wolf cub ran out of the bushes and bit Seika on the ankle. It stung just enough for Seika to get off. The wolf Limped up and stood in front of the cub. It must’ve been hers. Koda fought off the wolf and ran over to Seika’s side. “Are you alright?” He asked skidding to a halt beside Seika. “Ive been better, how about you?” “Im good…” They both snarled at the wolf and her cub. The wolf stiffened and spun around to see the other wolf lying on the ground. “Azure!!” She screamed rubbing her face on him, trying to wake him up. He slowly came to, and sat up. Azure looked at the wolf and stood up, in his human form. He had short, black hair with blue highlights. He glared at the two wolves. “Will someone fucking answer me!!” Seika yelled, turning into her human form as well. Koda did the same. “Who wants to know!” Azure yelled back. “Where is my sister!?” Seika said, Koda followed, “Yeah! And where’s my daughter!!” The wolf stood next to Azure. “We don’t know what your talking about! We were alone until you ran in on us!” The wolf cub ran and hid behind her parents. “Well…” Seika said, being interrupted by Suki. “Hi Seika! … What’s wrong?” Suki said tilting her head sideways.
