Nine Inch Nails for Dummies: a guide,
Goth kids taking over your neighbourhood?
Don't wanna look like a retard in front of them?
This is a little guide that'll help you become chums with Reznor devotees in an instant,
Part one: basic facts
-In the studio, it is Trent Reznor and various producers putting together well constructed goth-techno, live, the band is a more metal-ish band with a rapidly changing roster
- Without Trent Rezor, there wouldn't be the Marilyn Manson we know and love today, he discovered and hired young Brian Warner in the early ninties after Warner interviewed him for a local newspaper, from there, it was anarchy, pure anarchy,
- All the discs released by NIN are marked as Halos, ex: Pretty Hate Machine=Halo Three
Part two: the albums
Down In It- The first one, it's cheap, and it's part of music history, and it was #5 on the modern rock charts in 1989
Head Like A Hole- An MTV classic video made this one a hit, good remixes, also cheap, with plenty of songs
Pretty Hate Machine- The one that really started NIN's rise to sucess, fantastic album, sold one million copies in less than a full year, making it the fastest selling indie album ever!
Sin- It's a sin to own this, "Get Down, Make Love" is the only good song, with sampling from a Japanese porn flick, remixes are total arse, avoid
Broken- A classic, went multi-platnium, won two Grammys and sent Trent Reznor throttling into fame as a musican and producer, Marilyn Manson guests guitar on "Wish", with former Pigface vocalist/drummer Martin Atkins playing and writing some songs
Fixed- Shit-poor remix album, vicious editng of Broken's songs are painful to listen to, and fuck are they long! Only ten thousand where made, and I own one, good luck finding it new, but don't buy
March Of The Pigs parts one&two- Okay, but sold separatley, part two is waaaaaaaaaay shorter than one, still worth it if cheap
The Downward Spiral- Recorded in the infamous Sharon Tate house, this album is really fucking upsetting, songs are beatifully crafted, and features Steohen Perkins on Jane's Addiction on drums
Closer To God parts one&two- A rather well mixed disc, some music was later re-written and used in Se7en's soundtrack, like March Of The Pigs, it's sold separatley,
buy it
Further Down The Spiral- Brilliant remixes, with Red Hot Chili Peppers' Dave Navarro on guitar, subliminal messages are hidden on this(see part three), well worth the ten bucks
The Perfect Drug- A great song, but only import versions have the origianl version, buy it instead of the basic edition
Closure- A fantabulous set of VHS' containing live performances, a rockumentary and all of the band's music vdoes from the '89-'94 period, soon out on DVD
The Day The World Went Away- A short little disc, good songs, and only three bucks, buy
The Fragile- A double-disc set, very popular, I don't like it that much, but it's got fantastic instrumentals, buy
We're In This Together- A three part series, good discs, buy the imports, they've got better material, buy all three
Things Falling Apart- Another remix album, if you like The Fragile buy it
And All That Could Have Been- An amazing live album, all of their key songs from '89-to'00, records during the Fragility 2.0 tour, must buy!
Part three: Subliminal messages-
I only know about two,
Eraser(Polite)- On double speed, after seventeen seconds, Reznor mutters "kill you"
Erased, Out, Over- Double speed, throughout the song, Reznor bellows "ERASE..........MEEEEEEEE!"
Now you know the basics,

The official saddest song ever written!
Hurt
(Trent Reznor)
I.....
Hurt myself today....
To see if I still feel....
I.....
Focus on the pain....
The only thing that's real....
The needle tears a hole....
In all familiar skin.....
Trying to kill it all away....
But I remember.....
Everything.....
(Chorus)
What have I become?!
My sweetest friend....
Everyone I know....
Goes away....
In the end,
Yet you could have it all.....
My empire of dirt!
I would let you down....
I would make you hurt!
I....
Wear this crown of shit....
Upon my liar's chair....
Full of broken thoughts....
That I cannot repair...
Beneath the stain of time...
The feeling disappears....
You are someone else....
I.....
Am still....
Right here.....
(Chorus)
If I could start again....
A million miles away....
That's were I'd keep myself...
I would find a way.......

I review things!
I've always wanted to post video game reviews or something, but I don't have the time to play entire games, so here is this week's version of
Gary Feldman's Random Demo Disc Review Thing!
O.P.M Disc 90:
Area 51- part two of this series of fantastic demos does not dissapoint, it's waaaaaaaaaay harder than the last one, but still satisfying to shoot the living shit out of freaky mutants and in this part, creepy governement super-soldiers! Marilyn Manson guests as a dead corpse possessing freak named Edgar, David Duchovny voices the main dude,
Good things-
Marilyn Manson!
Shooting is solid as ever
Blood and enviroment effects are creepy
Bad things:
No more squad
Super-soldier A.I is inhumanely tough!
Smaller health bar
Overall-3.5/4
The Punisher-Long awaited and well worth it!
Interogations are fun, featuring an innovative control system and gunplay is simple Max Payne-esque run-and-gun style, with a berserker mode in which you can knife the holy hell out of enemies, human shields are infinitely helpful, and special kills are creepy as hell!
Good parts:
Interogations are brutal
Witty dialogue and story elements will bring worth often disturbing chuckles
Controls function well
Bad parts:
No gore in the demo
Hand-to-hand interogations wear out with use
Could have been longer
Overall: for sadists, 4/4, casual gamers who something really fun, 3/5, for the squeamish, 0/4,
Musashi: Samurai Legends-
First, I have to mention the fucking beatiful graphics, see how many times I say "fuck" in this review, they out-and-out fucking rule! Anime-style cel shading us easy on the eyes, fucking brilliant character designs and let's not forget the spectacular death animations! Fuck, they're stunning!
Fucking simple real-time combat is great, fucking flawless in this respect, I just wish the bosses weren't so fucking hard!
Good parts-
Amazing graphics
Great gameplay
Cool deaths
Bad thing-
Bosses are too damn hard
Overall: 3.5/4
SLAI-
This sucks, I'll sum it up:
A poor man's Amoured Core,
And by the way,
That sucked too,
The End
Good parts:
The opening cinematic
The game ending
Bad parts:
Awful sportz-meddle soundtrack
Terrible cloaking prevents you from looking at your custom mechs
Awful characters
Incessant crapful dialogue
Vapid, souless backgrounds
Terrible fighting system
Wants to be Amoured Core, at least it succeed in sucking out loud,
Overall:1/4
Death By Degrees-
Does God hate me?! Two bad games in a row, yea, awful controls, another right-analog stick fighter, Jesus, it's the worst one yet, stupid story, your character moves with all the grace and speed of Gimpy from Undergrads, terrible sniping section just frustrates, the only fun is using the double-fisted pistols for the first time, but even that gets boring whem you realize that Rise To Honor has better shootig controls, and Fight Night is more fun,
Good parts-
Capping people is fun once
Good cinemtaics
Seminal graphics
Bad parts-
Infuriating control
Crippled movement system, I thought my controller was broken, for Christ's sake!
Enemies suck ass
Overall:Impossible to rate, sucks too much,
O.P.M Disc 89:
Mercenaries: Playground Of Destruction-
This game is so hopelessly addicting, blow stuff up, blow it up again, blow the holy fuck out of it, nuke the remains!
It's terrorism made fun!
Excellent graphics, great character designs, fully destructable backgrounds, tons of vehciles, weapons and explosives to use, and this massive level has two areas to terrorize, a small, civillian village and a massive military complex, all your's for the bombing, GTA-style gameplay is great, and arresting people for no reason is fun, complete destruction will take you about an hour and a half, so have fun!
Good parts-
Too many to list,
Bad parts-
The civilian village is better protected than the goddamn fortress
is!
Overall:4/4

Punk Fest was a success!
Hooray!
It ruled!
A Pantera tribute, some Misfits covers and really incredible original material from some real hardcore punks,
Best sets:
Ground Zero- the best mosh of the show, Mike(The lead singer) actually dove in and continued singing while I beat the fucking hell out of him,
Anvil Chorus- great songs, no mosh,
Deathridge- like Ground Zero minus the mosh,
The last band I saw and do not remember the name of- the final mosh, quick and brutal,
and Mike continually screamed "PLAY SEASONS!" at the top of his lungs during other band's sets,

I know they suffocate you more than the passing of everyday human events
And isolation is the oxygen mask you're making children breath into to survive
But I'm not a slave to god that doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to world that doesn't give a shit
And when we were good
You just close your eyes
So when we are bad
We'll scar your minds
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
You'll never grow up to be a big rock star
Celebrated victim of your fame
Just cut our wrists like cheap coupons
And say that "death was on sale today"
And when we were good
You just close your eyes
So when we are bad
We'll scar your minds
But I'm not a slave to god that doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to world that doesn't give a shit
The death of one is a tragedy
The death of one is a tragedy
The death of one is a tragedy
The death of a million is just a statistic
But I'm not a slave to god that doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to world that doesn't give a shit
But I'm not a slave to god that doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to world that doesn't give a shit
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
I love this song, it gets me pumped!
Punk Fest on Saturday!

Another song-anime comparision
Today it's once again:
The Inuyasha-Kikyou relationship
versus
"Sin" by Nine Inch Nails
Similarities:
This relationship has gone sour, it's built in sadness, Kikyou was killed by Naraku and he blamed Inuyasha for her death, he may claim his quest is to become a full demon, but his obvious alterior motive is to see Kikyou alive again, yet she hasn't realized the truth, and is constantly holding him back by
1. Getting Kagome out of the way,
2. Seducing him,
3. Trying to kill him,
and this is holding him back and he's still blind to the fact that she wans him dead,
Anyhoo, here are the lyrics,
you give me the reason.
you give me control.
i gave you my Purity.
my Purity you stole.
did you think i wouldn't recognize this compromise.
am i just too stupid to realize.
stale incense old sweat and lies lies lies
it comes down to this.
your kiss.
your fist.
and your strain.
it get's under my skin.
within.
take in the extent of my sin
you give me the anger.
you give me the nerve.
carry out the sentence.
i get what i deserve.
i'm just an effigy to be defaced.
to be disgraced.
your need for me has been replaced.
and if i can't have everything well then just give me a taste.
it comes down to this.
your kiss.
your fist.
and your strain.
it get's under my skin.
within.
take in the extent of my sin.
Hope you have an opinion on this topic too!
