Demo Disc Reviews: OPM 95
Destroy All Humans:
Pandemic Studios onece again has made an attempt at keeping me confined to my house for 100 some hours straight....it worked, again.....But in all seriousness, like Mercenaries, this will eat up plenty of your time, although it's much shorter and quite linear.
Now when you say "Pandemic" and linear" in the same paragraph, anyone who knows videogames like I do will at first attempt to commit suicide, but then later rationalize and see that the game is still playable, despite the idiotic hand-holding mission objectives.
Blowing heads up and trashing robots are cool, added are super-excellent graphics, a cool retro style and hilarious dialog("Midget commie!!!!", "Did you do that? Was it you?! I saw you do that!!!", "Kiss...my.....buttcheels!!!!!", et al)
Good:
Pretty visuals
Great dialog
Jack Nicholsong parody VA
Scanners-esque heads a 'splodin'!
Fun physics
Bad:
Linear
Short
Excessively easy objectives
Verdict:
4/5
Rise Of The Kasai:
The sequel to indie hit Mark Of Kri, Rise Of The Kasai makes co-op gameplay fun again, because....
1. No split-screen!!!!!
2. It's actually easier!
The graphic violence and cool cinematics of the original are present, along with helpful additions like new kills and four(!) playable characters, levels from previous games return(Raiding Vaitaku Fortress brought back memories!!) as do the combos we grew to love the first time around, the fighting is still occasionally fumbly, but it's still fun, yea for Sony giving the series another chance!
Good:
All the excellentness of MOK
With fun new crap!
Bad:
Combat still not focused enough
At times too similar to MOK
Verdict:
3.5/5
Flipnic:
This game has to be played to be believed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who thougt SCEI adn Capcom could take a niche like old-school pinball tables and make a fab game out of it?!
Beautiful graphics, elaborate design, simple gameplay and excellent sound make for the best $19.99(US) you'll ever spend, the only problem is all but one of the two-player games are kinda dull, the one uber-fun game, Foospomg, is one the most creative ideas ever, foosball with 3D Pong paddles!!!!!
Good:
Graphics
Design
Sound
Price
Idea
Bad:
Multi-player could be better
Verdict:
5/5
Fullmetal Alchemist 2
Curse Of The Crimson Elixir:
Wow, a licensed game, anime at that, worth giving a fuck about!!!
The graphics are absolutely beautiful, the gameplay mechanics are easy to understand, and the story is brilliant.
The characters are well-represented, the vulgar and sarcastic Ed is the perfect counterpart to the loveable, meek oaf that is Al, their respective VA is spot-on, and the dialog is amoung the best in recent memory, the cinemtaics are beautiful, but the ones that use the in-game engine lack a great amount of animation, overall, great game, worth buying.
Good:
Too much to mention
Bad:
Some cut-scenes lack animation
Rose's VA is crap
Repetitive enemies
Verdict:
4.5/5
To be updated with two more reviews tomorrow!!!
