Not only did I lose a precious hour of sleep last night, but I woke up to nearly a foot of fresh snow. I mean, c’mon, it is April. It isn’t supposed to snow in April.

Yep, I am jumping on the Sin City bandwagon craze. I cannot wait to see this movie. Okay, I can wait, but I am really looking forward to watching it.

As I believe I stated in a previous post, I am a huge Frank Miller fan. Not only did I love his Sin City graphic novels, but I thought his work on Daredevil and on Batman (The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again) was brilliant (not a big fan of his Punisher run though, mainly because I think the Punisher sucks). I just thought I should take up a little space and give the guy props. Go watch Sin City and if you like it go read his Batman and Daredevil comics, they are available as graphic novels at just about every major bookstore.

I guess I should also give AJeh a mention since I am ripping off his theme. Sorry.

It is absolutely gorgeous outside today. Although I don’t want to knock the good weather, it almost sucks that it is so nice. I hate being pent up in an office on a day like today, maybe I’ll leave early and enjoy some of this sunshine.

I don’t know what got me thinking about True Romance this morning, but for some reason I just feel like watching this flick. It is odd how few people have seen this movie considering how good it is. Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, True Romance is a story of a guy that falls in love with a prostitute and the bloody events that occur afterwards. The acting in this film is every bit as good as the story line, the movie stars Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt (in his best role ever), Bronson Pinchot (Balkey from Perfect Strangers), Samuel L., and James Gandolfini. Yeah, huge cast. Anyway, if you haven’t seen this movie before, do yourself a favor a rent it.

I was pissing around on the internet last night at work when I decided to check out the Say Anything website. Apparently My Chemical Romance has “I Want to Know Your Plans” on their iTunes celebrity mixed tape. Although I am not the biggest My Chemical Romance fan, I am glad that Say Anything is getting a rub from a group that is so popular right now. Maybe they’ll get a little more money and notoriety for their next tour.

In other news, I think I am going to take Ryan’s advice and refinish a beat up acoustic guitar that I own. If you have any cool ideas on how to paint it, give me a holler.

I hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. Easter supper with Amanda and her family went better than I thought, mainly because we talked things over on Saturday. So yeah, it wasn’t all that bad.

Some Random Thoughts 1. Duke lost this weekend, so if you are a Duke fan I would like to inform you that you are a loser! Loser, loser, loser, looooooossssseeerr! I mean, Maryland might not have made the NCAA tournament but they are dominating the NITs…

2. If you liked the movie Ju-On (the Japanese movie that inspired The Grudge) you have absolutely terrible taste in cinema. I am a huge fan of scary movies, but I need the killer to have some motivation for killing. Maybe he is a psychopath, maybe he is a cannibal, and maybe he is possessed by an evil spirit. Who knows? In Ju-On, two of the ghouls have absolutely no reason to haunt and kill their victims. So what if they were violently murdered? Why would that make them want to violently murder other people? It doesn’t make any sense!

3. Production companies need to stop turning old sitcoms into new movies. If Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson couldn’t save Starsky and Hutch, and Samuel L. could make a flop like Shaft, what chance do Sean William Scott and Johnny Knoxville to make the Dukes of Hazard successful? Well, with the very talented (snicker) Jessica Simpson involved I would say zero.

4. I “Heart” Huckabees was incredible. My new career aspiration is to become an existential detective.

5. The other day I was thinking about how ridiculous it would be to name yourself L.L. Cool J. I don’t dislike the guy, but c’mon…L.L. Cool J? No wonder he works out all the time…

I have been playing the Adventures of Link recently. The game is a lot of fun and every bit as difficult as I remember it being. For some odd reason I cannot recall whether or not I ever beat the game when I was younger, but I plan on whooping its ass this time around.

In other news, my life is boring as shit right now. No really it is. The high point of this Easter weekend is going to dinner at my “girlfriend’s” parent’s house. “Girlfriend” is in quotation marks because she is my friend yet seems to be trying to push for a romantic relationship. Yeah, this one seems to be turning into another lose-lose situation for Charlie. Anyway, I really don’t want to go to her folk’s house on Sunday, especially since I will most likely be homesick and in a pissy mood, but I really didn’t have the motivation to create a plausible excuse.

On the Brightside, I got paid today. Happy payday for me, I know I have been looking forward to taking my hard earned money and spending it on something really nice…like my gas bill.

My uncle and some of his rich friends have been buying swanky condominiums in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Last week he told me that no one was renting his ocean front condo during the first week of May. At first I thought he was hinting that I should rent it from him and he would give me a discount on the price. Obviously this is still way out of my price range, considering the place rents for $3500 a week.

He shocked me when he said “Hey you and you buddies should go down there that week, all you have to do is pay the $75 maid service fee”.

Obviously I told him it was on like Donkey Kong, whipped out my cell phone and called some of my pals. I am really excited to get to stay in such a cool place for practically nothing. It will also be great to hang out with some of my best friends at somewhere nicer than one of our apartments.

My car’s ignition switch went bad the other day. I should have seen it coming. Lately it has become increasingly more irresponsive and moody. On Saturday night it ignored me completely and when I finally forced it to pay attention the ignition switch and some of its wired buddies started smoking. It turns out that they were a bunch of burnouts.

I got my car back from the mechanic today and he seems to have straightened things out, though I am not sure the relationship between me and my car will ever be the same. A certain element of trust seems to be missing, and I am not sure I can count on it to be there for me when I need it the most. That and the p.o.s cost me almost $600 to have it fixed.

I was flipping through television channels this morning when I came across a Social Distortion video on MTV2. I thought that was pretty cool. Although I don’t listen to all that much punk (I classify Social Distortion as punk, some people don’t, whatever) bands like Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, and Social Distortion make their rounds on my CD player. They remind me of the beach, and surfing, and my freshman year of college. All pretty fond memories.

In other news Satan665 rocks for getting me a Say Anything shirt from the concert he attended.

In other other news, Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper is the fucking bomb-diggidy.

The Contender is so fucking awesome. If you haven’t watched it yet it is on NBC this Sunday. Check it out.

Today is a happy, happy Friday. Not only does it mark the end of the work, it also is the official launching point of Charlie’s Super Fantastic Spring Break 2005. For break next week I plan on going somewhere really special. I am not going to Cancun or Daytona Beach. No Cruise or New Orleans or European vacation for me. No I am going where fluorescent lights shine bright, the paper work keeps piling high, and the phones ring off the hook. I am going to WORK.

Someone grab my legs, time for keg stands at the water cooler!!!

So my Spring Break isn’t the most hedonistic or glamorous in the world, but there is a bright spot. My family is coming up to see me this weekend! Although I have lived in Ohio for a little over two years now my folks have only had the opportunity to come and visit twice. Mainly this is because I would much rather just head South to visit them…that way I can be pampered.

Not only are my parents coming, but so is my little sister (I say little because she is younger than I am, though I guess it isn’t quite accurate considering she is as tall as I am and nineteen years old)! I don’t get to see her very often so I am really looking forward to hanging out with her.

A week from Saturday we are going to go to Cleveland and catch some of the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately I don’t think my chances of seeing the Maryland Terrapins play is very good. Due to a crappy season finale it would be surprising if they even get a spot. Still, I love watching college basketball so I am really stoked (uh-oh, spring break must be upon us, my adolescent wanna be surfer lingo has reared its evil head) to catch some of the tournament.
