The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so “profound” that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the internet.

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

“First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time, so we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go t Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law sates that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This yields two possibilities:

1) If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will continue to increase until all Hell breaks loose.
2) If the volume of Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of the volume of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa Bayman during my Freshman year, that “…it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you” and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having an affair with her, then #2 above cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze over.”

   It was the only green smily...
I must say, It ain't easy being green. Lol.
I would like to ask all of you to do something... What that is, I don't know... I forgot.
But, I guess I'm lucky because the post that was titled "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" that had the Celine Dion - To Love you more song... I got rid of the embarassing 'cofess my love' part in the nick of time... That person commented on that post not long after I got rid of that... >_<
I went to that person's site a few minutes ago, and now I feel sick... I get it rubbed in my face that this person is taken by my friend, and that they are very much in love with each other.
I should be less jealous, I don't have much reason to be, and in all honesty I don't know why I am, I guess 'cause I never lose a fight, or lose a battle. I wanted this person to love me, I just wanted to know all I could about them, and when I think I know everything... I found out that I know nothing, So I start over, and then find out that once again I've been pushed back.
And no, I'm not whining, or being depressing, I'm sitting here, typing, smiling, and laughing at myself.
Oh yeah, How do you all like my new pictures at the top?
I hope you all comment quickly... I'll probably end up deleting this post before the person reads it to, but I don't think it gives too many details and they won't know it's them, So I think... i think... I'm safe.
