Your life, while having been hard, has not been as hard as others have been. Depression has dealt you a heavy load, and there are a lot of things that you have to regret and wish you could change. This does not mean you aren't a good person. You could be the nicest person in the world and you would never admit it to yourself. When you look in the mirror you are unhappy with what you see and so you find ways to make yourself look better. You say you don't care about what others think of you, but deep down, what they say bothers you. You erect a wall to keep them out of your life, and you don't let that guard down for just anybody. Very few people get past it and so you are left with very few friends indeed. Not to say that you couldn't have more friends if you made the attempt, but you choose your friends carefully, and sometimes are let down, but a lot of the times, you choose very carefully and these end up being your best friends. You have the occasional thought of suicide, ok maybe not so occasional, probably more often than not, but you keep on moving in the hope that life will get better, and it will. The thing you have to keep in mind is you have to help yourself. Life is a long thing, and depression lasts maybe 10-20 years at most, depending on what causes it, and where you find your strength. You may not feel it, but you are a lucky person. Depression will define you into a better person, if you want it to. It builds a character and personality that many people, sadly, just don't have, and should have. The important thing is to let go of your past, as hard as it is, and move on. Love will set you free, so love with everything. Love your friends, love your enemies, love your family, love everything. May you live to see a change, and may that change be for the better. Life is hard, but there are things worth living for, and if you survive this rough patch of life, you will indeed be a happier person for it in the end.
