Passage 1: A Rise to Anger
The darkness engulfs me. I am surrounded, but alone. My blood dries up and my thoughts wander. My nails now have grown into bone daggers protruding from my fingertips. My ears, now mutated and pointed, hear everything from the deepest, lowest noise to the high pitched supersonics. My body is empty. The thoughts I have of love and kindness transform into anger and hate. Without a trace of the gentleman I was, the monster takes over. With a scream, I kill those I used to love. The corpses strewn across the room, a bloody river now flows across the glossy wood floor. My pupils pinpoint as I slowly pull my weapon from the remains of an old friend. I know what I am doing and I know it is wrong, but with the lust for blood that I have newly obtained, I continue onward and no one will stand in my way! To my surprise the slaughtering of the fallen warriors, men and women amuses me. My lust for blood grows stronger and soon devours me. Finally, the woman that my soul has been in love with tries to stop me. She succeeds. My eyes meet hers and she becomes immobilized. I tie her hair back, away from her face. I lean over and grab the hilt of my sword. She puts her hand on mine, the same hand that is grasping my sword, and slowly leans forward to kiss me, not knowing of the demon that I have become. The scent of her crimson, rich blood reaches the tip of my highly sensitive nose, as our tongues entwine in a dance of love. After the kiss she tells me to bite her, like I used to, back in the days when I was the sexual dominator. I did as I was told, as this time I will make her mine, for eternity! My teeth slowly squeeze her neck and finally sink in. I feel her blood tickle the tip of my tongue. This taste so familiar and satisfying still does not quench my thirst. The poison from my fangs rapidly infiltrates her body, and she becomes numb. Her grip on my hand grows stronger. Her pupils turn red and pinpoint as she looks up at me in confusion. Her nails grow as do her ears. I feel the evil mutating inside of her. She closes her eyes and falls into darkness. She knows what she has become. Is it a dream or a nightmare? Her teeth now grow into fangs and she now has the lust for it too, that same lust that tortures me, not only for blood, but for destruction. She slowly opens her eyes realizing that this nightmare has become a reality.

She looks up at me with a tantalizing gaze. At this moment I predicted what she was going to say. To my surprise she said something completely opposite.

“It shall happen again; the blood, the pain, this tormenting rain.”

I smiled, this news made me quiver with excitement. She smirked showing a few fangs. I tell her to find a weapon and have her follow me to the next town.

We shall go from town to town, killing and destroying, engulfed by our curse and drenched in our victim’s blood. It’s not soon after, that a rumor begins to spread of two want-to-be mercenary assassins, torching a whole village and killing a small army. Elders, women, children, none were spared. We arrived at the next town, Nikaimaru, trying to act as inconspicuous as possible. As we walked in the door of the Nikaimaru Inn, we were greeted by a strange, drunken man. He kept rambling on and on asking random questions. He kept talking. ‘Damn! It was the most annoying thing I’ve ever heard!' But wasn’t listening. I smiled at my thoughts, for I knew what I must do. I look at her now sitting at the bar drinking sake, she looked at me back at me. She smiled for she knew the thoughts that were coursing through my mind.

I grasped a fist around the hilt of my blood–stained sword, though I did not draw it. I proceeded to tell the pestilent to hold his tongue a moment, but he didn’t listen. I drove my blade into the man’s throat and out through his scrawny neck. Blood spurted like rain as the man’s body dropped to the floor with a thump. Suddenly, the whole room fell silent. Everyone in the room looked in my direction, staring at my blood covered sword and hands. I saw it in their eyes’, the same thing that I saw in the annoying man’s. That thing I saw was fear. I barely noticed the bartender screaming as the adrenaline rush from my blood lust drops down to normal.

“Get the hell out of…ugh” the bartender was interrupted by my Elven Empress, who was squeezing the life out of his throat. After a couple seconds she released as she went behind him. The bartender went for his weapon, but my girlfriend got to it first. She slowly starts unsheathing the blade from its scabbard. The bartender struggles for his weapon. His actions were a complete failure; he tripped and fell, twisting his ankle. His screams were ended as my girlfriend dropped the blade on his neck, like a guillotine. Blood sprayed out of the new opening in the bartender’s carcass. A deadly still silence filled the room. Then everyone looked in my direction as I let out a howl of laughter. Finally, someone protested to this hideous act. The warrior pulled a sword from his robes. It was a sword worthy of a samurai.

“You treacherous demon…!” the man yelled at me while attempting to hack me in half.

He missed repeatedly until I stumbled to catch my footing and he drove his blade into my shoulder. I looked deep into the man’s eyes, smiled.

“You don’t want to loose these, do you?” I asked as I tapped the dull part of my blade against his groin. The husky man jumped back ripping the sword out of my shoulder. The man started to swing more aggressive. I was sure he was taking more than his anger out on me, I thought to myself. Finally, he swung a high blow to my head. I ducked down thinking he had missed me, but he managed to slice inches off my ponytail. He swung his sword back for the killing blow to finish me off. I raised my blade as to accept his challenge, while blocking the slice to my head.
“You don’t want to die, do you?” I asked with a sarcastic hint of pleasure.

“You are the one who is going to die, demon!” The husky warrior yelled as he started darting at me. “Time to die!”

He lunged as if to thrust his sword though my chest. I parried the blow and ran my sword across his shoulders, creating a gigantic laceration across his shoulders. With a loud grunt the massive bully stumbled to the floor, crimson blood now flowing down his back. He slowly got up in pain. Once he regained his balance he looked at me and started to charge again, not learning the first time. He slashed vertically trying to cleave his blade into the top of my skull. I dashed to the side as I dodged his vertical strike that would have left my body mangled on the floor. I spun around and guided my weapon down the center of his spine, creating a bloody cross on his back. The man fell to the floor in agonizing pain.

“Am I really a demon, if I believe in God?” I said sarcastically.

“What…are…you?” the man asked with extreme confusion, in excruciating pain.

“I am with you always I push life on its way; whether in the brisk, cold winter or on a warm sunny day. My blade will cut through the thickest of stone. Ever since it all began, I stand alone. I am the Devil’s breath, The Gods' redemption to sin. I am Kuro Kaze; the cold, black wind.” I continued on. “Let this be a lesson to all who can hear! We are neither law nor mercenaries. If you pose no threat to us you shall be spared! All those who oppose us will die!”

I now looked to the man bleeding profusely on the floor, and said, “Forgive me, for I forgive you,” as I drove my blade into the ground through the man’s abdomen, blood spewing out of his mouth as he gasped for air.

I slowly pulled my weapon out of his body and watched the blood pool around him. with each breath the man choked on his blood until he gave up his struggle to live. The man drew one last agonizing breath before passing on to The Judgement. The Judgement, the one most fearsome concept of living. When you are finish life and pass on the Thierteen Gods judge your life and send you either to the Abbys or to the Havens depending on the wellness of your entirety. The dead body jerked upward as my blade exited his stomach. I now look at my girlfriend who returned my gaze with such a loving face.
“Come on Ayanami, we are leaving.” I said sternly.

“But Hotaru!” Ayanami protested.

“Now!” I yelled. “These people have learned their lesson.”

The customers at the Inn stared in awe, dumbfounded and scared as Ayanami and I slowly walked out of the Inn and disappeared into the dark night.
