Suddenly hiei’s hold on me tightened and he kissed me!!! I tried to pull anyway be his hold was to strong. Finally when he let me go I was a little dazed but managed to get out a couple of words. Your right that was worse. Hn. hiei then walked away saying maybe that will teach you. Ewww! that jerk just kissed me!! Yuck! I jumped over the wall very angrily and headed home thinking to myself. This day just cant get any worse! When I got home my mom was making dinner. Hey hunny welcome home. How was work? Horrible. Why is that? Nothing important mom. I’m going to my room when dinner’s done call me okay? Okay dear. My mom smiled as she continued with dinner. When I got to my room I plopped on my silver silkily blanket. Man I’m tired. I rolled over to get comfortable when I saw a note lying on my bed.


Chapter two: the note






What’s this? I sat up and picked up the note. Then a lovely black rose fell out of it. Wow what’s all this about? I opened the note and began to read this mysterious letter. my dear cataroo I am in deep love with you I always have been since the first time I set my eye’s upon you. Please except this black rose as a gift and there will be another one waiting for you at your work tomorrow it will be by the wall………sincerely your secret admirer. I blushed really hard wondering you this person could possibly be. Wow……………………..cataroo! Dinner is done! Huh? Uh okay mom! I put the note under my bed for the time being and went to eat dinner. Maybe my mom knows who put that note there? I questioned myself as I entered the kitchen. The smell of food filled the air with a sweet sent. Wow mom what ever you cooked sure smells good! Well I hope so since I made steak. ( yummy steak) hey mom did anyone go in my room today while I was gone? Not that I know of why? oh nothing I was just wondering. Okay. When I was finished eating I went up to my room and took a shower. When I was done I changed and got ready for bed. Hmmm bed. I snuggled into my pillow and closed my eye’s ready for tomorrow and what that person got me as a present and Morley to see my friends…………….hmmm. I awoke to maybe the most annoying noise in the world…….my alarm clock. That thing gets so irritating when it goes off that you haft to through it at the wall which is what I did. I got up and changed into my kimono for work. Mom I’m leaving! I yelled walking down the hallway to the front door. Bye hunny! She yelled back. Hn she really has to stop calling me that. I mumbled leaving out the door. I walked up the street to love’s I live so close that there’s no reason to drive there plus, it’s fun to go through the construction site. The people that work at the construction site only work at night so they don’t see me go through. I walked across the sandy floor past a lot of heavy machinery ( all made by cat my nickname) when I approached the wall I started to run to get in a good leap to see if I can make it over in one try. It worked I got over the wall gracefully landing on my feet. Yeah I made it. I cheered. Hn your proud because you made it over the wall? Someone behind me asked. Huh? I turned to see hiei again near the back wall but his gang wasn’t with him. Why are you always here? Do you live here or something!? Hn of course not but I choose to stay here most of the day. Whatever. So you work at that restaurant in that store don’t you? Yeah I work at arby’s got a problem with it? Yeah I eat from that place I don’t know if you ever tried to poison my food. As tempting as that sounds I work at the front register. I don’t make the food. I spoke thinking about the many different ways to get hiei back. Now I got a question for you. Hiei didn’t ask what but looked like he was paying attention. Where’s your gang? All four of them are in the hospital. Wait I only fought three how did the last one get hurt? For running away he was a coward anyway. Hm violent aren’t we? I smiled. Hn you’re the violent one. Whatever……….uh ho I got to go too work!? I yelled looking down at my watch. I only had three minutes to get inside before opening time. I ran past hiei and into the back door then up to the register with thirty seconds to spare. Okay you know she gonna yell at you so get ready cataroo. I said closing my eye’s and tensing up. But that’s strange no yelling? Hey is Katrina off work today? No she’s always here to make sure I do my job right……well finally a day off without her ridicule! I cheered to myself. ( three hours later the greatest time of my life no Katrina to bark at me it was slow and my break was extra long) when I was on my break I went to see Krad and dark. Hey guy’s. hey. They both said boardly. What’s wrong? I’m so board.. Dark moaned. I am as well. Krad agreed. Ahhh poor boys. I sarcastically pouted. Why are you so happy? Dark asked. Well it seems Katrina didn’t come today and I have had the greatest time. I smiled. Well that’s good. Krad smiled back as, did dark. Yeah I hope she stays gone. Well that’s not very nice. Krad spoke. Well she isn’t a very nice person. I replied. That no reason to talk about her behind her back. You wouldn’t like me to do that would you? Krad asked putting his hands on his side. no. I sighed. Krad may seem mean to others but he is a really good person and very honorable he doesn’t like when people talk behind other’s there back. Well enough of that lets eat! Dark broke in. okay dark. Krad and I both smiled. We walked over to arby’s and got our usual but when I was done I went outside. Hey guys I’ll be back in a minute. I yelled walking out. Where are you going? Dark asked. Just outside for some fresh air. I walked outside then to the back wall again seeing hiei just sitten there. You again? I asked walking up to him. You again too? He replied. Yup I never leave! I smiled. Neither do I. Hiei said in reply again. Man I’m tired better walk a little to wake up before my breaks up. I yawned thinking to myself. I started to walk away hiei following me. It was about noon and the wind began to pick up as we walked along the wall not really talking until something caught our attention. Hiei do you smell that? I asked degusted by the smell. Yes it smells like rotting flesh. ( this must really be a horrible smell if hiei notices it) we kept walking along the wall trying to get away from the sent but it seemed we only got closer, that was until the smell became over powering. oh man hiei come on lets go somewhere else. I begged plugging my noise to hold out the smell. Fine with me. Hiei replied. We walked up a small like hill slowly easing away from the sent when we got to the top of the hill a really nice breeze blew by. Wow that feels nice. I turned to get a better feel when I looked down at the wall. AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I yelled terrified my eye’s stuck to what was being seen. There on the wall hanging from nails was a dead body with no head. My screaming made hiei turn around and when he saw what I did he instantly covered my eye’s. ( to bad I already saw it huh?) oh my god! Hiei please tell me that not real!! I yelled the image running through my head. Blood covered the body and the wall. Cataroo there’s a phone in your store right? Hiei asked whispering in my ear not un covering my eye’s. y-yes…I stuttered sacredly. Then go call the police. Hiei let me go but first turned me around so I couldn’t see anything. I did as he told me and ran back to the store. When I got in Krad was waiting. Cataroo you look as if you seen a ghost are you okay? No Krad I’m not someone is dead on the wall I need to call the police now!! What!? Krad’s eye’s widened very shocked as was I still. I then ran past Krad leaving him still stunned as I ran into love’s behind the crowner the to dark he is bye a phone. Dark “dark“!!! call the police now!! I yelled almost running right into him. Cataroo what’s wrong? Please dark I don’t have time to explain! Cataroo! Calm down and tell me what happened? I explained to dark everything trying not to see that image in my head again. Dark was almost too stunned to talk but he shook it off by picking up the phone shaky and calling the police. ( two hours later around five) the police had arrived and took the body for an examination. Who found this body? The general asked. I-I did. I answered shaky. Is this how you found it? Yes. I replied more sturdy then before. No one touched it before you called? No sir. Krad answered for me. ( we where all out there including sara she came in for her lunch break when she saw the cops) well we have identified the body it seems her name was ………….Katrina. Me Krad sara and dark all gasped with wide eye’s. nooo please not my sister……..sara broke into tears as she fell to the ground. Krad sat down next to her to try to comfort her but had no success her tears fell like rain. A couple hours later Krad took sara home and went home with dark leaving me and hiei. The cops were still patrolling the area when one came up to me and hiei. We have found what may be major evidence. Does this look familiar to any of you? The cop pulled out a bag holding a black rose!? We found these surrounding the body. Like the one in the note? I asked myself shocked. Well? The cop asked again impatiently. Hiei shook his head causally as did I or morally tried. Sir what’s your name? The cop asked stating to hiei. Hiei. Can I ask you to come down to the station to ask you some questions? Why? Hiei asked coldly. It’s just some questions please do come. Hn. Hiei clearly didn’t want to go with the cops but to resist them would only make things worse. Hiei go. I whispered. No I know they think I did it because I look the part so I’m not going. Then if you didn’t do it you have no reason not to and just so you can prove them wrong go. ………fine. Hiei said loudly so the cop could hear. Good I knew you would see it our way. Hn. Hiei still didn’t want to go but fallowed the cop to a car and drove away. Well I guess I should go to. I said to myself walking over to the far far side of the wall to jump over it. Upon my returning home my mom was really worried I mean really worried she didn’t let me go for about ten minutes. Mom seriously I’m okay. I struggled to breath. Five minutes after that she finally let me go. Thank goodness. I yelled taking in deep breaths. Oh hunny please don’t go to work tomorrow. Mom I got to but don’t worry I will be here with all my friends cleaning up so I will be safe. No I cant let you go!! Love’s will be closed so no one will come in and I wont leave until krad and dark do okay?? I asked reassuring her. You promise? She begged. Yes. Good. she smiled. I smiled back feeling a little better myself. I left my mom to take a shower and go to my room. After a long hot shower for about an hour I felt a lot better about what happened even though the image was sickening I made me still feel uneasy but much better then when I first saw it. I laid on my bed waiting for sleep to hit me but when I rolled over to become comfortable I saw another note lying on my bed. Who’s to die next? I sarcastically quivered. When I opened it another black rose fell out but I did not bother to admire it since I saw how they were being used. (they were found lying next the dead body) I just looked at the not and began to read it. my love I hope you liked your present for, there will be more. I will always protect you even from those you think you can trust. Like that boy who kissed you without your permission he to will pay. Will he still look the same as you last saw him? Only you will know……again your secret admirer. omg!!!! He’s going to kill Hiei!!! Without another thought I ran down stairs. My mom came out of her room wondering what I was doing when she saw me slipping on my shoes and quickly heading out the door. Cataroo where are you going!? I got to check on a friend mom I will be back soon! I shouted back to her as I ran out the door. I ran as fast as I could down the street noticing the wind picked up a lot and it looked like it was about to rain but, I didn’t care I had to make sure Hiei was okay. I got to the construction site I slowed down to catch my breath but then hurried again to leap over the wall. When I got over the wall I fell flat on my face but got up quickly. I was tired and now dirty trying to find Hiei before anything happened to him. Hiei!? Hiei!! Please be okay… I thought yelling his name once again. Hiei! I yelled out again with no response. Maybe he is still at the station? I tried to think positively but the thought of Hiei being killed running through my head. He’s okay he’s okay. I repeated to myself. Suddenly it thunder loudly and it started to sprinkle. Oh no. I was now tired dirty and wet it couldn’t get much worse. I shouldn’t stay out here any longer it could start pouring. I whispered. So I headed home walking through the thunderstorm until I reached the porch of my house. I plopped down on the steps and looked out at the lit up sky until sleep was taking me over so, I went inside. My mom came running over to me looking worried. Cataroo your soaking wet where have you been? I told you mom I went to check on friend. I calmly said walking up to my room. I grabbed a towel from the bathroom and laid on my bed not even bothering to change. The soft blanket and heat now seemed so comforting then the rain and wind even though I was dripping wet. I fell quickly asleep hoping and praying everything would be alright tomorrow…………cataroo? Are you getting up to go to work? I heard my mom whisper softly nudging me. Huh? I wiped eye’s and looked confused at my mom. Your alarm clocks broken……..again. My mom said sternly. ( she hates having to by me new alarm clocks cause I just keep smashing mine) oh yeah. I whispered remembering last night. But then I quickly got out of bed and got ready. I showered really fast brushed my hair grabbed my kimono and ran like wind out the door. If he’s not out there today then….then…..I don’t know what I’m going to do. I almost pouted to myself.





Chapter three: questions asked but no Answer’s given.




The site of the wall as the sun rose brought back the memories of Katrina’s dead body. I tried to close out the images as I approached it, but it wasn’t working to well. I had fallen limpidly over the wall landing dead on my knee’s. ouch….I mumbled gradually getting up. Nice landing skills. I heard someone walking up to me say. Huh!? Hiei!? I jumped up seeing the black haired boy looking at me. Thank god your okay. I ran up to him hugging him very tightly. And all this time I thought you didn’t like me. He looked down at me raising an eye brow. I quickly let him go trying not to raise his suspicion, but it seemed not to work. What’s with the hugging? Hiei asked. I uh thought you where going to stay at the police station I’m happy you got out on the first night. I smiled easily seen lying. Wow was that a poor lye. Hiei sighed. Well it wouldn’t be so poor if you weren’t so good at noticing I was lying! I thought to myself. It’s not a lie! I complained. Uh huh. Hiei obtusely didn’t believe me so I left him to go to work. I wonder why Hiei wasn’t killed?…………………(takes me a long time to think)…………………maybe because he was at the police station the killer couldn’t get to him??? I asked out loud. But quietly as I walked into love’s. krad and dark where already there along with lina who had a shocked look on her face. I guessed they told her about Katrina, and that made think about poor sara that was her one and only sister. I hope she doing okay. I whispered to myself. I walked up to krad lina and dark kind of sadly saying hello. Krad was the first to turn around. Cataroo? Are you okay? Krad also sad in a way asked. Yeah you look like you didn’t get much sleep. Dark spoke second turning to me. Yeah I’m fine. I was just thinking about how sara was doing.

heard a cheerful voice behind me say. Ya! Krad’s off! Me and lina cheered. Krad is like my big brother he’s always been there for me he is always happy he smiles all the time and gives all kinds of good advice! Hey no cheers for me I’m off to! Huh? oh dark of course cant forget you! ) he’s Krad’s little brother he’s close to me but not as close as Krad but I do know he does like me a lot. he’s a bit Goth but a good person and cheerful like Krad. Man I’m starving can we get something too eat? Dark grumbled playfully holding his stomach. Sure. We all said heading off to the arby’s. okay who wants what and who’s buying? Dark asked. I’ll buy. I volunteered. No cataroo you bout yesterday so I will buy today. Krad pointed out. It’s okay Krad I can handle it. No and that’s finale. Krad smiled pulling out his wallet. I sighed feeling defeated. Okay Krad. Welcome to arby’s what can I get you? ( that girl has my job) I will has a beef & cheddar meal please. I said. I’ll have the same. Dark ordered. I will have a turkey salad. Lina said nicely. I will have one as well. Krad smiled. When the food was ready we all sat at a table and began to eat. I sat next to Krad lina sat next to dark. Cataroo why weren’t you here earlier? Dark questioned. Well um these boy’s were messing with a girl so I got a little side tracked helping her. I answered. Huh what boy’s? Krad asked interested in the conversation. The silver clan bandits is what there leader said they where called. Hmm never heard of them. Krad and dark spoke in unuin. Me neither. I said. Oh hey guy’s! huh? We all looked at the door and saw sara come in. hey sara we all smiled.  Sara’s one of my best customer’s and friends. She’s hyper at time but usually calm. She work’s at a college not to far away from here. Are all of you off? She asked. Yup. I smiled. May I join you? Sure! Sara sat down next to lina and we all began to gab until our break was over. Hey sara I’m off to work Sooo welcome to arby’s what can I get you? Cataroo! It’s welcome to arby’s can I take your order cant you do anything right!? Ho great Katrina’s here. I sighed.  She works at the drive threw window but mostly she’s around me getting on my case. My goodness Katrina it’s not like I’m perfect jeese give me a break! No you cant ever do anything right I don’t even know why your working here if I was the boss I would have fired you so quickly you wouldn’t have got out of the tutor. If you were the boss I would have quit before you fired me. I growled. Katrina that’s enough! Sara yelled. What? Leave her alone she doing her job just fine. Ho yeah I forgot to say sara is Katrina’s older sister. Fine. Katrina moaned defeated as she walked over to the drive threw window. Your sister has a serious problem. I know. Sara sighed. Well anyway what can I get you? I will have a number two meal please. Sure. That will be 4.67$ okay. While sara paid for her food I type in the order and it was sent to the back to get prepared. While she waited I had a question for her. How’s the college job coming? It’s coming good. Alright when are you going to offer Krad that job? Soon I hope I really want him to work with me. Ho yeah you like Krad don’t you?……yes. So are you gonna ask him? She began to blush but gave a steady answer even if it wasn’t a good one. I don’t think I can. Sure you can. You like Krad and I’m sure he likes you back go ahead ask him out. But…. Oh your foods done here. just ask him he’ll say yes. I whispered handing her the tray of food. Work went by fast except for the fact Katrina was bugging me to death about not putting the orders in right and so many other things. You know what Katrina go back to the drive threw window and get off my case! I yelled now at the peak of aggravation. ( she hates being the person at the drive threw…….more like despises) she got really mad but went over there anyway. Finally! I yelled to myself. When my job was over I had to clean up when love’s closed. Usually Krad and dark come over o help because the store a roughly clean. Lina though stays in the back to pick up. I was scrubbing a table when I heard dark tell me something. Jeese cataroo you think you yell loud enough Krad and I heard you all the way on the other side of the store. I didn’t answer but started scrubbing the table faster and harder out of annoyance until I realized dark grabbed the rag out of my hand and Krad looked at me like I needed to calm down. Man cataroo scrub any harder and your going to scrub a hole threw the table. Dark joked throwing the rag up in the air and catching it again. Sorry but that Katrina is getting more and more annoying by the minute! I growled. It’s okay just ignore her she only does it for the attention. Krad said taking the rag from dark and cleaning the rest of the tables. Okay. I sighed trying to calm myself. We cleaned till about seven when the sun was setting. Wow the sun’s going down already? I asked locking the front door. Yeah. Lina came out from behind the back ready to leave. Well see you’ll tomorrow. I waved. Bye. Krad and dark waved back then got back to cleaning. (I always leave when lina does) I walked with lina out of the store and down the side walk until we split. Bye lina. I wont be seeing you tomorrow will I? No I’m off tomorrow because of my new schedule. She cheered. Heh see ya. I giggled walking off. I got to the back wall remembering about when I fought those boy’s. I wonder if any of them woke up? Eh probably didn’t. I giggled amusingly to myself. I was about to leap over the wall when I felt someone pull me away from it. Let me go! I barked looking behind me to see………….hiei the leader of that gang….( forgot there name again) well haven’t seen you since I knocked you out. I smirked ready to fight him again. You got lucky cataroo. Excuse me for one thing it had nothing to do with luck and two how do you know my name? Your name tag. He said simply. Thinks he’s so clever. I angrily clenched my fist thinking to myself. Heh I should teach you a lesson for meddling in my affairs. What affairs!? You where ganging up on a innocent girl! Hn she was in our territory. So! Suddenly hiei pulled out his sword so fast that I didn’t know what was going on until I felt his sword against my neck and that I was pinned against the wall. Stop melding in my affairs. And if I don’t what are you going to do kill me? No I know something worse.
