Chapter 3
Sasuke, Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata stood near the entrance of the Hokage's office.
"I have awoken to grave news this morning," the Hokage said, "And I have thought long and hard about it."
All four of them stood in silence, waiting for their commandments.
"I do not want this to happen again!" the Hokage said, angrly. She was disgusted at how easily the evil task had been accomplished. "Kiba, you go with Akamaru and fight the culprit. Do not give up and do not come back unless in disgrace," the Hokage paused, looking at Hinata, "Hinata I have witnissed your courage, you go with him, together your courage will be great, and your enemies will fall. I know not where your journey begins but I trust you to handle it."
The Hokage sat back in her chair, her mind suddendly at peace that the job would be done right. She turned to Naruto and Sasuke then.
"How does Neji fare? I know he must be devastated."
"Neji was given a sleeping potion to keep him calm," Sasuke replied.
"Hmm... Do you believe him stable enough to help make the village is safe again?"
"I believe that in Neji's condition he is the best one to help, in his will to protect Tenten he will strive for protection and sight gaps we may miss, but he may become consumed in his work and work himself to death," Sasuke answered.
"When he awakens send him to me and I will talk to him. Go now and keep this village protected, do not let your fellow neighbors suffer again."
As the five exited they parted ways. Kiba, Hinata, and Akamaru went to gather their things for the mission. Sasuke and Naruto went to check on Tenten's well being and to begin their own job.
"Kiba, I am not sure where to begin," Hinata said as they walked.
"First we go to the Sound Village to sniff out the snake," Kiba replied, all shyness from the day before gone, nothing but the grim mission ahead to acomplish on his mind.
They continued on in silence parting ways at their rooms.
Sasuke and Naruto lightly knocked on Tenten's door. A very disgruntle looking Sakura answered.
"Whoa," Naruto muttered, startled at Sakura's appearance. It earned him a glare.
"Oh, shove it, Naruto," she replied.
"Enough, you two. We have came to see about Tenten's health, Sakura," Sasuke said.
Sakura glared at Naruto once more and turned to allow the boys entrance. Naruto and Sasuke hurried over to where Tenten slept.
"Hey, Ino," Both of the boys said, ackknowledging Ino's presence.
They both looked down at Tenten's dangerously pale face.
"Sh... She's not... Dead, is she?" Naruto asked in a choked whisper.
"No, she isn't dead, just unconscious," Ino replied. "She lost alot of blood. Tenten is a fighter, we believe she will make it. We are fairly certain it missed her organs, she hasn't began to spit of blood or anything yet."
"When Neji awakens the Hokage wishes to speak with him," Sasuke said. "We will come back later, if anything happens, please inform us."
"Alright," Sakura said, sitting down.
Kiba opened up his closest door to grab some clothes and saw that everything he owned was identical.
"Gah, I really need to buy some new clothes, maybe when this is all over with I will remember to," Kiba muttered to himself, while quickly grabbing items and throwing them in a bag.
Kiba glanced at Akamaru and remembered to pack some food rations.
"No telling how long we'll be out there, boy, might as well pack all the food we got," Kiba said to Akamaru.
He began to actually think. He thought about what it meant to go on this trip with Hinata. Just the two of them, alone. Kiba began to grow more nervous about it.
He quickly finished packing and trotted outside to await Hinata. All he could imagine was Hinata sleeping near him, in the cold and he began to day dream.
"Oh, Kiba, its so cold, will you keep me warm?" He imagined Hinata saying.
"Of Course, Hinata," Kiba replied to his dream.
"Of course what?"
Kiba jerked his head up to see Hinata standing in from of him.
"Of course you would take longer to get ready because your a girl," Kiba said trying to cover himself.
"Oh? And what exactly is that supposed to mean?" Hinata said raising her eyebrow.
Kiba thought to himself that atleast she was mad and not slapping him for his day dreaming. "Well, girls always seem to need so much to get ready, thats all."
"Right... C'mon, then, lets go!" Hinata said a little angrily.
"Uh, right. I think we should head towards the Sound Village first. Thats where Orochimaru stays, so best chances that he might be there. We should scout out the most obvious places first."
Kiba, Hinata, and Akamaru headed out in silence. They walked along to old trodden path towards the Sound Village. Once they got into a more wooden area Kiba fell behind a little, but Hinata was still a little mad about the sexist comment and chose to ignore him.
"Hey, Hinata check this out, I'm a bird!" Kiba yelled at from above.
Hinata looked up in shock as Kiba spread his arms and jumped off a tree limp.
"Kiba! NO!" Hinata screamed running forward to try and catch him.
Kiba grabbed another limb, laughing and swung down to his feet.
"Ha ha, were you actually trying to catch me?" Kiba said, laughing at Hinata.
"Kiba, you idiot you could have been hurt!" Hinata said, her face turning red.
"Aww, were you worried about me?" Kiba said, teasing.
"Just shut up, Kiba, I couldn't care less if you broke your neck," Hinata tried to storm off, but Kiba caught hold of her wrist.
He pulled her against tha tree placing his hands on either side of her face. He placed one hand beneath her chin and lifted her face towards his.
"I'm sorry," Kiba whispered, his hot breath blowing against her lips. Leaning down he kissed her.
Hinata felt as if her heart was going to explode it was beating so fast. She had never experienced anything so sweet and gentle as his lips.
Kiba lifted his head and looked down at her. The sunlight filtering through the trees down on Hinata's face. Kiba quickly let go of Hinata, realizing what had happened.
"Wha... Uh... I'm sorry..." Kiba said, a little embarassed that he lost his control.
Hinata remained silent, leaning against the tree for support. After a few minutes in silence, and after both seemed to recover, they walked on in silence as it began to get dark.
Sasuke and Naruto, back at the village, had just finished up their day, and was now sitting down having a hot cup of ramen.
"How do you think Hinata and Kiba are handling it?" Sasuke wondered outloud.
"Well, if I know Kiba, hes making a move on Hinata as we speak," Naruto replied.
"Hee, and what about you, Naruto?"
"What do you mean 'me'?" Naruto asked, lifting his cup up to drink.
"Well everyone in the village knows you and Sakura were meant for each other"
"WHAT?!" Naruto said, spitting his drink out.
"Yeah, you two argue so much, your meant for each other. It seems to me that you've met your match," Sasuke said, chuckling.
"No way, man, she hates my guts," Naruto replied with a sigh.
"Yeah, I guess your right, maybe someday..." Sasuke muttered, finishing his ramen.
