This tablet is challenging to master, but it makes drawing fun.

Tablets are usually just for the serious graphic designers and digital illustrators, but Wacom is trying to changing that. They are providing more affordable tablets called Bamboo Fun Tablet.

The Bamboo Fun Tablet is about $199 for a 6 by 8 tablet, or $99 for a 4 by 6 tablet. It can sit on your desk, or even your lap. The package includes a pen, which can move your cursor around the screen, but if that is too hard for some users, it includes a wireless mouse, which you slide around on your tablet. The package also includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 and Corel Painter Essentials 3.

Compared to the Bamboo Fun Tablet, I own a Wacom Intuos, and that also came with Adobe and Corel Painter. The difference in the products is the resolution and pressure sensitivity. The Bamboo Fun Tablet has only half the resolution and half the pressure sensitivity that the Intuos has. The cursor becomes slightly jumpy when doing extreme detailed work unless you have a rock-steady hand. It does not detect the degree of tilt as you hold the pen, neither are the accessory pens available, so airbrushing and calligraphy won’t look as refined and natural. Though for the casual user, these limitations may not matter.

Things to remember about the Tablet are that it’s inexpensive and easy to install, but can be difficult to master and lacks sensitivity of more expensive models.
