Rock Against Bush
Mood-Happy ^_^
Music-The School of Assasins-Anti-Flag
Ha, I got back from buying Dyne's birthday present, and I went against everything she said and got her a DVD. So don't buy any of the DVDs you wanted 'til you figure out what I got you on Saturday.
When I was at the Wherehouse shopping for her present, I also got that CD Rock Against Bush Volume 1... for $6.99! It's got 26 songs by some of my favorite artists, and even came with a free DVD that I haven't looked at yet. But the CD booklet thing had a really cool intro, I'll type it... Oh man this is gonna take a while.
George Bush is not just another bad president. He is "The Bad President".
He is a man who doesnt not care about America and he could certainly give a shit about you. He is a cowboy who cares about making money and wielding his power. He is the enemy of the working class people in this country. If he cared about you he wouldn't have sent hundreds of thousands of troops to Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. The CIA and FBI both told Bush that there was no connection between Iraq and 9/11 and that there were probably no weapons of mass destruction.
If he cared about you he wouldn't have insisted on the $1.7 trillion in tax cuts (with the lion's share going to his mega-rich backers). In a time of war and recession, he has turned the greatest budget surplus in history into the biggest deficit in history-a debt that is being passed on to our generation and the generations to follow. Thanks to Bush's econmic policies, almost 2 out of every 3 college graduates are having to move back in with their parents because they can't land a decent job.
If he cared about you he wouldn't have waged an unprecedented attack on civil liberties and personal freedoms here at home. Using the PATRIOT act as cover, the Bush administration adminstration are hell-bent on trying to get a peek at what b ooks we're reading, what music we're buying, and what thoughts we've been thinking. Bush is also blatantly pandering to his ultra-conservative base by promising to support fear-mongering abstinence programs, more drug testing in schools, and a constitutional amendment banning gay marriages.
And that's just for starters (for a fuller rendering of Bush's dubious "achievements", see our list of Reasons to Hate Bush Jr. on the following pages. I'm not planning on typing this, because the thing is long enough as it is.)
But it's not just us who feel this way. More and more people-including traditionally conservative groups and individuals-are starting to speak out against the Bush White House. A report by the Army War College (hardly a hotbed of left-wing radicalism) called the war in Iraq a "detour" that has undermined the war on terror. Former CIA officials and operatives have publicly rebuked the lies, misstatements and exaggerations that served as the basis for our invasion of Iraq.
(At this point, they had a bunch of stuff about the DVD, and then more stuff.) Even former members of Bush's own cabinet are sounding the warning cry, with his one-time Treasury Secretary, Paul O'Neill, describing him as "a blind man in a roomful of deaf people".
I realize some of you might be thinking "Whatever. Just play the music and fuck the politics." And you know, before 2000 I might have agreed with you. In fact I had never voted before the 2000 election. Then came W and all the gifts he's given us: Iraq, 6% unemployment, Enron, the rollback of air and water quality standards, the Patriot Act, tax cuts the the wealthy, etc... Now everything's changed.
For the last 15 years, I have done a lot of touring outside this country: in Europe, in Japan, in Australia, in South America. Up until two years ago, the U.S. was pretty well regarded. Not everywhere, and not by everyone-but on the whole we were seen as the Not So Bad and sometimes even the Good Guys. Well, that has definitely changed. The rest of the world now hates us, fears us, and considers us a bully and a joke.
And with good reason: our government has been taken over by evil men. We are being lied to. Our pockets are being picked. Our freedoms are being eroded. Our country is being fleeced.
We can no longer afford the luxury of sitting on the sidelines. The time has come to make a difference.
The 2000 presidential election proved that apathy can be fatal-and that even a few hundred votes can make the difference between war and peace, a booming economy and record deficits, personal freedom and John Ashcroft.
The good news is, we actually have the power to change America's-and the world's-future. But only if we get our shit together and get involved in the political process. You wanna really scare the crap out of the powers-that-be? Then organize and make your voice be heard. If everyone who guys this CD comes together as an outspoken force, we can expose George W. as the failure, fraud, and liar that he is.
Wow, that took a long time to type, and there might be typos because I wasn't looking at what I was typing... Now my hands hurt, lol. And good luck to Dyne on her vice-presidentialness! If you go to Presidio and are reading this, please vote for her! ^_^ Or else... Uhh, I didn't say anything. Lol. Nope. Nothing at all. *runs* Well, that's all I have to type, and I must say something. I have absolutely nothing to do with anything of what was typed above about Bush. I take no credit for it, and just hope that it may change some of your views. And it wasn't meant to offend anybody, so if it has, I'm sorry. But I take no credit for writing any part, except the part in parentheses about the DVD... ^_^ Okies bye!
