So much for the new car >.>;
»¤ Bringer of Light ¤« Heh, oh yes, this past week has been a fun one indeed. ^.^; Yes, it is Boonville Fair week once more, and that part is all good (I even entered some pictures into the art contest this year!) The very very fun part about this week is... My mother's new leased '06 Cobalt, not even a month old, is now in the garage all thanks to some idiot who didn't tie some metal chairs down in the back of his hay wagon. ^^;
It all started on Monday night, my mom and I were driving home from the fair at around 10pm, so it's completely dark out. It was earlier that evening that Boonville had their annual parade as the grand opening to the weeklong fair, so there was a pick-up infront of us, pulling a hay wagon with a couple stacks of metal chairs on it. Now mind you, this hay wagon had no rear gate on it to keep any of its contents on the wagon. Well, my mom and I started following this trailer out of town and towards home. Well, along the way, we had another pick-up truck end up passing us, so there was now another vehicle between us and the truck towing the wagon. All was good for awhile until we noticed the truck right infront of us pull out into the other lane (it's a two lane highway), which my mom and I thought was strange how he was going to attempt to pass the other truck, since there was traffic coming. Then we saw this guy pull back in, and the next thing my mom and I knew, BAM! We saw chair legs sticking up infront of us, and there was the sound of metal scraping on the ground. Neither of us saw the thing!
We immeadiately pulled over, and I got out to investigate only to find a stupid steel chair lodged into the front of our new car. Two of the legs were wedged underneath the front end and the other two were the ones we saw from the inside of the car sticking up. So I pulled the chair out, which took some force, and set it aside. So I went and assessed what I could of the damage, which was paint missing from the bumber and some scratches. Stupid us though, we didn't bother calling the police, instead we drove home. When we got back to the house though, I took a lamp in the garage and checked beneath the car because my mom said that she saw a fresh pool of liquid on the floor.
So I looked under and car and sure enough the radiator and air conditioner were dented in and fluid was leaking out. Soooo... when we told my dad, he took me out to retrieve the chair and find out the location of the accident. And when we got to where my mom and I originally pulled over, there was a pool of fluid on the ground there too.
But yeah, I get to play sleuth now, trying to figure out which float had the chairs on it. XD I already went to the fair office to ask if they keep a list, and they said they'd let me know if they found anything out. But so far, the estimated amount of damage is around $1000 already, and we have to talk to the insurance company now, and hopefully convince them not to increase our rates (which isn't going to be fun)
Though yes, other than that, the week has been fine and dandy. :) Though the fair hasn't been any fun without someone to pick on all the time. >.> Ah well, guess I gotta wait until Friday and Sunday to have someone to pick on. *sighs*
Until next time though!
