December Underground
To say that I was never in love with Davey Havok would be a lie. The first time I read the lyrics to "Silver and Cold" I was lost. It's not the kind of love one has for another as a potential mate or the willingness to give one's self over for another person (that would be Batman), but the kind of love one has for an ideal or a dream come true. My love for Davey is akin to my love for Neil Gaiman. Both of these men are true artists. Just by being touched by their work changes you forever. For me, Davey but words and music to feelings I had but could never express. I read the words and (literally) cried out: "That's IT!!" It's the feelings and thoughts and emotions that I did not possess the skill to even know the terms for. Needless to say, I am very happy with AFI's new album. At the moment, my favorite is "Prelude 12/21." Enjoy.
"Prelude 12/21"
This is what I brought you
This you can keep
This is what I brought
You may forget me
I promise to depart
Just promise one thing
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep
This is what I brought you
This you can keep
This is what I brought
You may forget me
I promise you my heart
Just promise to sing
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep
This is what I thought
I thought you'd need me
This is what I thought
So think me naive
I promised you a heart
You'd promise to keep
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep
'Tis a good song in my humble opinion. I'm pretty sure it's still up on their site if any of y'all are on MySpace, if you haven't heard it listen to it.
'Til next time ...
I love you Batman. @}--',--
