I think I was high on incense
Inspired by my work at Celtic Moon!!!
One Day…
Around three, I was still cleaning the display case with the crystals, stones and tarot cards. Rather tedious work, although I enjoyed working with the crystals. My hair was thrown into a messy French twist with a chopstick from my lunch. I had finished dusting the glass and used packing tape to pick up the lint off the velvet where the crystal balls are kept and was carefully placing the quartz in neat rows, directing the energy flow out toward the store. Kat taught me to do that one day. The sulfur stones intrigued me because it was the only crystal I knew of that was not only appealing to the eyes, but the nose as well. Feeling rather ridiculous, but as though I could not go about my day without sniffing that rock, I looked around cautiously and faced away from the counter scattered with wands, hemp bracelets and crystal balls. There were no customers to seen and I was working by myself. The spiky yellow weight in my hand seemed to say, sniff me…I smell like rotten eggs. It’ll be fun! One last time I glanced around, smiled faintly then brought it up to my nose and took in a deep inhale. It smelled…like rotten eggs, but still for some reason I felt a stupid grin spread across my face as I took another inhale.
“Jade…what in the Lord’s name are you doing…?” asked a male voice from behind me. I nearly dropped the sulfur. For a moment without looking I tried to figure out who it was. Jeremy? Some regular customer of the shop? I spun around to face the unknown male and almost dropped the sulfur again when I realized he was anything but unknown to me. He seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. Our eyes met as he just stood there with a curious smirk on his face in front of the counter. I blinked, and then found my words again.
“So. The first time I see you in months and you catch me smelling a yellow rock…”
“Figures, huh?” We both stood in silence for a moment, then I held the sulfur out to him
“It smells like rotten eggs. Wanna sniff?”
