I’m the first to admit I don’t watch very many animes in English so I tend to focus on Japanese voice actors but this voice actress is one of the few I recognize quite easily no matter what role she’s in. I’ve watched nearly a dozen of the animes she’s been in in both English and Japanese and she is quite talented at keep true to her character and to herself. A thin line to walk for many voice actors but she does it with style and grace.
I think the first anime I ever heard her perform in was Wolf’s Rain where she brought to live the lovely scientist Cher to the point where I wept at the end of the series. And next she reduced to me tears again, though of laughter this time during her appears on FoolyCooly as Haruhara! Just all around one of the best English voice actors, I’ve even gotten fond of spotting her work in the video games I play!
If interested she has a quite nice web site of her own so feel free to click on the image above to be taken there to see what other works she’s done!

Anime Word of the Day | Itadakimasu (いただきます) a phrase, derived from the polite keigo form of "to receive," said before eating or drinking. In Japan it is customary to put one's hands together and say "Itadakimasu" before a meal. It is customary to say "Itadakimasu" before you eat and "Gochisousamadeshita" after you finish. "Gochisou" means banquet or delicious meal. You should say "Gochisousamadeshita" (=Thank you for the treat) when someone treats you to a meal. Both "Itadakimasu" and "Gochisousamadeshita" convey a meaning of thankfulness for the meal. Keep in mind that both of these expressions are used before and after you eat regardless of whether or not someone cooks for you or treats you to a meal.

Ok so this voice actor has only done three shows but he’s just so cute I can’t resist having him listed! Plus I’ve actually seen two of the anime’s he’s been in and well if he isn’t just an amazing voice actor! I hope this kid gets picked up for some more anime series, I really like his voice and he has a great deal of talent. If you get a chance I hope you listen to his voice for a bit. Capeta is a good sports anime and well I’ve talked about Seirei before in one of my posts.

Anime Word of the Day | White Day is a festival that was created by a concentrated marketing effort in Japan. White Day is celebrated in Japan and Korea on March 14, one month after Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day, women give gifts to men; on White Day, men who received chocolate on Valentine's Day return the favor and give gifts to women.
Valentines in Japan, particularly among students is somewhat different than the west. Valentines day is mainly for the girls to present chocolates (either store-bought or handmade) to the boy of their choice. There also exists the "Giri-Choco", which translates to "Obligatory Chocolate" that a girl will give to those close to her but has no romantic interest in. When white day rolls around, it is the boy's role to return the gift in what is called "Sanbai-gaeshi" or "Triple return" as the gift the boy gives is supposed to be three times the value of the initial gift from the girl.
There are many theories about the origins of White Day, but according to one, the holiday began in 1965, when a marshmallow maker started marketing to men that they should pay back the women who gave them chocolate and other gifts with marshmallows. Originally it was called Marshmallow Day, and later it was changed to White Day.

Hmm I’m not actually sure why I haven’t listed this voice actor before. Especially since I am so very fond of so many of the characters he portrays. Particularly the ever lovely Kakashi from Naruto! But I honestly think of the very first animes I heard his voice in was in Blue Seed. Where he played the Kusanagi, who I just adored. LoL
But Inoue has been a voice actor longer than any of the others I’ve portrayed; he’s actual one of the voice actors for the original Voltron series if that dates it for those of you who enjoy the classics! ^^ He’s truly one of the greats I’ve never seen him in a role that he hasn’t truly become and brought alive. Anyone who can reduce me to tears in a quite role like Hatori in Fruit Basket truly deserves all the love I can send him!

Anime Word of the Day | Hashi (箸)is the Japanese term for chopsticks. Chopsticks were invented about 3000-5000 years ago in China and even today most Japanese people use them to eat their meals. Even soups are eaten with chopsticks. Chopsticks are traditionally held in the right hand only, even by the left-handed. Although chopsticks may now be found in either hand, some still consider left-handed chopstick use as improper etiquette.
Japanese etiquette
- Never use chopsticks to transfer something to someone else's chopsticks or someone else's plate or bowl. This is how bones are passed as part of funeral rites.
- Never stab chopsticks into a bowl of rice, leaving them standing upwards. Any stick-like object facing upward resembles the incense sticks that some Asians use as offerings to deceased family members.

A truly talented Japanese voice actress for today’s listing. I think the first anime I truly noticed her in was Prince of Tennis. She did a truly amazing job bringing alive Echizen for me. And I’m actually a bit amazed at how many other shows I’ve listened to her voice act in and didn’t make the connection between the characters. I just love it when that happens! Especially since I’m one of those folks who actually listens for connections like that! ^^
I’m thrilled she’s still a very active voice actresses and in fact I’m currently watching two shows that she’s appearing in. Both Code Geass and Shonen Onmyouji are at the top of my recommendations this season and she’s in no way a small reason for that. ^^

Anime Word of the Day | Fan service (saabisu) sometimes written as a single word, fanservice, is a vaguely defined term used in visual media — particularly in anime fandom — to refer to elements in a story that are unnecessary to a storyline, but designed to amuse or excite the audience. In anime/manga refers to sexual hints like breasts showing or panty shots. There is a very large variety in fanservice. Shower scenes, sexy clothes, swimsuits, close-ups, wet see-throughs and many more things count as fanservice. A very commonly used scene is when a girl/boy stumbles and ends up on top of a person of the opposite sex in an indecent position.

A fairly unknown voice actor at least for me but one of the voices I’m not likely to forget anytime soon. After all I’ve watched 109 episodes of Bleach now and enjoyed his performance as Ichigo in every single one of them! The vast range of emotions he can bring to this character makes me wonder just how he hasn’t gotten a chance at more lead roles. And of course it makes me grateful to the casters at Bleach for giving him the chance!
Morita is highly skilled in Karate and Kendo which led to him working as one of the motion capture actors for the amazing movie Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. He also did a great deal of motion work for the video game Dynasty Warriors. Obviously the man moves as elegantly as he uses his voice!
Just a short listing of his voice acting career.

Anime Word of the Day | Eroge (エロゲ) is a Japanese video or computer game that features erotic content, usually in the form of anime-style artwork. Those games are also appropriately called dating simulations or visual novels, while the terms hentai-games or h-games are not that common in Japan. The common form of those games show a background image, one or more characters in front (in case you are talking to someone) and a text bar that shows the dialogues, monologues, answers and decisions you can choose. Depending on the decisions you make the story will take a different direction and have a different outcome.
While people unfamiliar with eroge might think they are just cheap sex games, this is not quite true. In fact, most eroge feature a deep and professional storyline, which is why so many of them are taken for anime adaptations. Those stories are naturally of the harem genre, but still can vary a lot as they can be drama, fantasy, action, material arts, horror and many more genre in additional. |
