Chappy 21! Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 21
The Prophet cursed under his breath and started to run with Suki and Aki. He started to explain how the demons found them. "You see, when we had the tracers, we would be two hours behind. The demons must have found a way to close that gap! Damn dark magic." The Prophet stood his ground, and just as Aki and Suki braced themselves to fight, he said, "No! Do not use your powers! If you do, we will have a whole army here!" Aki watched as Suki fell to the ground. Aki felt weak too, he fell with her. They laid there for a second, and then felt a new strength flow through them. They felt their bodies contort in weird ways. They closed their eyes, wishing this to all go away. Suddenly, the Prophet yelled, "Yes! Tap into your new found power! Do not fight it! This battle will go quickly!" The demons walked towards them. 'If they catch Aki and Suki before they are done transforming, then they will die!' He saw the weakness in the demon's formation, the nose of the triangle. He charged one of the demons, holding his sword to the ground. He glanced to his left, where one of the demons was notching an arrow. He raised his bow as he aimed, pulling back on the string like it was child's play. In one motion, he tilted the bow a little and let the arrow fly. The Prophet, expecting this, twisted his body to the left, and raised the blade to take the blow. He felt the crushing power of the flat side of the sword on his chest, knocking some of the wind out of him. He staggered a little, then continued his charge. The demon on the right chuckled as the Prophet neared the towering beast in the middle. 'He looks tough, but he has a weak spot right below the shoulder, the armor should cripple.' The Prophet only hoped he was right. With the blade of the sword pointing down, he lunged and raised the sword upwards, ramming his sword into the left shoulder. The beast cried out in pain as he felt the blade rip through his flesh, feeling the searing blade cut though his side as the Prophet twisted the blade inside of him. His blade glistened with black blood as he pulled the sword out. The demon let out a mighty screech. Its howling pain was deafening, and the Prophet gripped his ears and fell to his knees. The demon on the left and the demon on the right both notched another arrow, carefully aiming for his throat, their hands shaking a little as they held the bow back, waiting for the kill command. The demon's made eye contact, and they released their arrow's at the same time. The black tipped arrows sang through the air, the redwood arrow shaft flying straight and true. The shot would have been fatal had a wolf and phoenix not intercepted the shot. The wolf jumped up, gripping the arrow in its mighty jaws. The arrow splintered as it was crushed in half. The phoenix caught the arrow in its vigorous talons, swinging its whole body upwards, diverting the direction of the arrow. It flew higher than the demon had aimed, and it flew right in between the eyes of the other demon, he fell down to his knees. The wolf's paws slammed into the ground as it jumped up and pinned the other demon, and the wolf's teeth sank into the evil creature. It twisted it's face, side to side, ripping the skin off the face of the demon. He let out a howl of pain, and his body went limp. The wolf, proud of it's kill, looked up at the Prophet with green, gray, and blue eyes. The wolf then pounced at the Prophet playfully, pinning him to the ground and licking his face. He laughed and said, "I'm happy to see you too Suki, but you have to get off." She hopped off instantly, and curled up at his feet. Aki landed on the Prophet's shoulder and perched on it. "So, this is what you meant? Why am I phoenix and she a wolf?" The Prophet said, "Aki, I will answer that question soon enough, but first we have a bigger problem. We have to get out of this place post haste." They stood up, and Aki said, "Hey, I will take care of Suki, you get out of here as right now, your not what they want." The Prophet sighed and said, "That is why I am here, its because your what they want. We cannot allow that, no matter the cost. I would happily lay down my own life to save either of yours." Aki did not know how to feel about that, and neither did Suki. She looked up at him, and as she did, Aki flew down and grabbed Suki by the scruff of her neck. "Hun, that hurts!" She yelped. "Sorry!" Said Aki as he loosened his grip a little. Then he flew up and yelled back at the Prophet, "When can we meet up with you? And where?" The Prophet said, "Once you find a secure place, I will come to you. Until then, do not use your powers! And stay in this form, to the demon's your invisible unless you change. It is part of the cu---I mean the spell." He shifted his eyes and disappeared. "Wonder what he was about to say? Cu...Cu...Cut maybe? Oh! Curry of course!" Aki said. Suki laughed, and it was a good feeling that they were able to joke at a time like this. She wagged her tail and said, "Ya know, I kinda like being a wolf over a human. I think I am going to stay like this for a while." Aki smiled and said, "Ya, I know how you feel. I love being able to fly right now. and I feel...Well....Its like a warm tingly feeling all over, kinda like when your in love, but I feel so good, nothing could ever break this feeling." They continued to fly in silence. Aki smirked and flew up higher, because he knew Suki was afraid of heights. "Aki!!!! You barley got me on that plane! This is too high!!!!!" She screeched at him. "Aww, but look at the view!" Suki looked down for a second, and as she did, Aki saw her jaw drop a little. "Wow....Just...Wow......." She spoke as if it was the most beautiful thing in the world, and to her it was. She was looking down over a small forest, where they were just over the highest trees. "Aki, can we stop here for a little bit?" Aki thought for a second, and said, "Well, if we stop just for a little bit, I am getting a little winded. He dove down, going nice and slow for Suki. He landed on the ground, and they looked around for a bit. "Wow...This forest is so pretty!" They walked around for a bit, Aki resting on Suki's back. He smiled sweetly as she carried him. "Be glad that you weigh next to nothing, or else I would have dropped you by now!" She teased. "Oh ya? Well I will remember that as we are flying then..." Suki looked back at him, and they both laughed. "Its a beautiful place for a picnic. Look over there!" There was a clearing in the forest, where they sat down. "Now all we need is something to eat..." Aki heard Suki's stomach growl. "Well, lets find you something then!" Just as they said that, a pack of wolves came by. "Shit...Let me do the talking Aki." One of the wolves licked his lips and said, "Would you look at that? We seem to have some fresh meat on our hands! I want the bird, you guys can have the wolf." Suki growled and said, "Wait!" As the wolves started to close in, they formed a triangle formation, closing in on them, pinning them against a tree. The wolves walked slowly, one growling intimidatingly. "NOW!" Aki grabbed up Suki and started to fly away with her gripped in his talons. The wolves all jumped up to snatch one of them, but couldn't do it fast enough. Aki and Suki were now safe in the air again. He looked down into Suki's eyes, and saw her looking back up. "I...I lo---" Aki's sentence was cut short as he swerved out of the way of an arrow. It was shaped differently then the others that he saw before, it had an oaken shaft, its arrowhead being tipped with a black stone. It seemed to rip through the air, splitting it in half. "Hello wife." A quiet voice spoke out. Aki turned his head to the side just in time to see Kuro holding a second arrow notched, this one notched at at Suki's head. Kuro pulled back a little, then aimed. Aki screamed and tried to fly downwards, to take the arrow for himself, but it was too late. It flew straight through Suki's body, causing a terrible wound. Kuro looked away and spoke again, "It's a Pity, wife, we could have been so happy together... Oh well, its too late for that now." Aki swooped downwards and landed, hiding Suki in his wings. "Well, you two have a lot to talk about, I will at least leave you alone for your last few seconds on this earth."
