The Underground is Cool.

Well, Arena Underground managed to survive its very first day in operation.

I'm pleased that the general RPG discussions have been flourishing there. But really, what interests me more is how people are going to use AU to complement their existing (and new) RPGs.

Arena Underground actually adds a fundamentally new element to RPGs -- the ability to have a support thread other than the recruitment thread.

My next RPG (after Kill Adam 2) is going to utilize Arena Underground heavily. In fact, I had wanted to create AU before Kill Adam 2 went live, because I felt that it was something I was going to need. As it turns out, I ended up designing a site with Alan instead.

But now, the need for sites has probably dropped significantly. Instead of making a site, people can make HTML-rich threads that include static and dynamic information about the RPG.

So, to help kick things off, I've launched a Kill Adam Underground thread, which is hopefully going to complement the RPG as well.

I also want to continue to focus on RPG collaborations. Collaborations help to raise the production value of an RPG, which can be really beneficial at times (though it's not always necessary).

Shy/Josh had just suggested an RPG idea to me earlier this evening, which he wanted me to develop with him. The actual idea is pretty cool, but I'm not entirely sure if it's something I can do successfully.

Nevertheless, this really serves as a reminder to me that collaboration is important.

With Kill Adam, I am kind of sacrificing some elements of a more free and easy style of RPG, by introducing structure. But really, everyone still has a great deal of freedom in what they do. It's just that there are certain established facts that develop throughout the story.

And the beauty of having a more cohesive effort is that at the end -- once Volume 2 concludes -- Kill Adam will be a complete story, with a beginning and an end...and with no utterly confusing and OOC style areas in the middle.

What was the point of this post? I don't know. But go visit Arena Underground and post in there, if you haven't already.
