Yamauchi Reloaded
When Hiroshi Yamauchi took over as President of Nintendo Co., Ltd. in 1949 (from his grandfather), it was an interesting situation. None of the existing management trusted him. They each had different thoughts about running the business and as a result, things became difficult. So what did Yamauchi-san do? He fired all of the existing management - even people who had been in the company for many years. He fired them all. And he then surrounded himself with highly talented people from both inside and outside the industry. His ability to be decisive is one of the reasons why Nintendo became the most successful video game company in history. Interesting, no?
Anyway, things are moving along swimmingly (swimmingly? o_O). I'm very pleased with my new appointments to OB -- it's nice to get things moving in a productive manner. There will be more changes to come before v7 launches, but I've already explained that 'till I'm blue in the face, pretty much.
Anyway. Today has been a pretty good day, save for all the work. I've had a couple of good chats with Tony over the last couple of days...and really think that I enjoy chatting to Tony probably more than most other people on AIM. When I think about it, we've had quite a lot of in-depth chats about things...mostly games, but in recent months, we've talked about a wide variety of stuff. It's definitely a really welcome break from the sometimes-silly IMs I get from confused members. ~_^
Anyway...I don't really have much to say in this post. Maybe I'll think up some divisive issue to make my next post spicy. Oh, yes, I do have one thing to add -- you're all invited to the Shy/Jeh wedding. Yes, it's still happening...I think. ^_^;;
