Big Spender?
Phew. Last week of holidays. Last day actually.
Thankfully, they didn't give us a huge amount of stuff to do over the holidays for school. There are a couple of projects ongoing, but none of that is very difficult or time consuming, relatively speaking.
Anyway, it's going to be a good month. I'm planning two major purchases. Other than video games, school and clothing, I don't really buy anything. Those things take up all of my income -- especially school, since it's full-fee based. Ugh.
I'm planning to finally upgrade from 56K to ADSL. I'd rather cable, but there are some logistical issues with that (being that we already have two cable lines coming to our house from the street and our house's architecture is apparently "weird", which makes it more expensive to get a third line). So cable will come later, I imagine. But ADSL is fine with me; any broadband is good compared to what I have now. lol
I'm also planning on purchasing an iPod for myself.
The truth is, I've wanted a portable CD player for the longest time. But every time I have the money, I tend to buy something that I really need...rather than something I just want. As a result, I've never yet bought a portable CD player at all. If I ever use one, I just borrow my sister's.
But it's annoying to use on the train. It's cumbersome to change discs...and who wants to carry heaps of discs with them anyway? It's just not really comfortable.
So, finally I'm in a position where I can buy an iPod. I figure it'll be good for school as well, because I can use it instead of a ZIP drive, for graphics files.
Originally I'd planned to buy the 20GB version, partly because you get various extra stuff with it (other than the higher memory).
But when I mentioned it to my mum, she said that my birthday is coming up...and that I could get the 40GB model if I wanted. She and dad offered to pay the rest.
Isn't that cool? There is no way I'm going to be able to use up all 40GBs. Even on a 15GB model...I'd be straining to fill it up entirely. So this will be nice. I'm also planning to buy those "in-ear" buds, and possibly the voice recorder attachment. I already bought a seperate voice recording device, with the little tapes...which isn't really very good, because it's hard to translate that to the computer. But with an iPod, I can do interviews and stuff entirely digitally. That'll be so useful.
So I think it's a wise purchase; the music will be good, and the functionality of a portable hard drive will be incredibly useful for school and work.
And after that, I won't be splurging again for a while. lol
My poor, poor wallet. X_X
EDIT: For my next post, I shall borrow Mimmi's idea. Why don't you ask me some questions -- something you'd like to know -- for me to answer? I've never tried it before, so I thought it might be fun. I especially love reading other people's replies to those questions.
Nothing is taboo...but I do reserve the right to make a "no comment". ~_^
