nearing the end
semester countdown (not counting weekends or other days im not in class): 14 days. whoooooo

man, i dont know about you guys, but this year has flown for me. hard to believe the year is almost over.

had a faily amusing weekend. liana came over friday night. we watched "narnia", which she had somehow avoided seeing this whole time. went to a local state park saturday and hiked for a couple hours. surprisingly many people there. wasnt expecting it to be quite so crowded. saw this lady with a seriously embarrassed-looking dog named (honestly) "frou frou". poor dog. granted, it was one of those fluffy white over-grown rats, but still. it looked quite ashamed.

dress rehearsal for a band concert this afternoon. concert is tomorrow. it should be pretty good. and then done with band for the semester. (yes, i like band, but i do like finishing up the season) percussion ensemble concert next weekend, which should be most entertaining.

quote of the day:
“God made Man before Woman because you always make the rough draft before the final masterpiece.”

*chuckle* im not religious and dont go with the whole "creationism", but i saw that and just went "ooooooh, burn."

stuff
happy easter to those who celebrate it. hi again to all who dont.

first off, i posted art yesterday. 3 new things (decided against the old one for now) two are alright, but one is, quite frankly, awesome. i think ive earned bragging rights on that one. youll know which i mean if you actually go look. and, while i appreciate people letting me know they like my stuff, would it be possible to get some criticism? thanks.

must do the requisite family stuff today, much as i dont wish to. at least i wont be dragged to some insane sunrise church service. (having a less than religious family is nice) just the usual family lunch and whatnot. hoping it wont take too long as its fairly boring when youre the youngest person there by 30 years.

quote of the day:
“Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the
universe together.”

that just makes me happy. both as a star wars nerd and a user of duct tape.

sweet salvation
friday comes again to save my sanity. well, sorta. i have a quiz in the morning and a paper due in the afternoon. my second class is cancelled for reasons unbeknownst to me, but im not complaining. because of that, ill have three extra hours to actually finish up my paper. however, endure those two slight inconveniences, and then i go home and liana comes over for the night. so, there shall be art sometime this weekend. 3 new ones and possibly an older one that ive pretty much decided im not finishing. it looks better as it is.

ive also been "demanded" to draw this by liana. awesome picture, but im frankly not sure i can draw that one.

geez, found out yesterday that this was the last chem lab of the semester. the practical is next week and its check-out after that. o_O where did the time go?! i have...*counts* 3 weeks and a day left, counting exams. geez. this year has gone by fast.

not much to say right now. must go study for that quiz.

.....
not a very eventful day. finalized my schedule for next year; hope i get most of my classes. chinese is seriously over-enrolled, so i dont know if ill be able to get in. oh, *chuckle* the fund-raising event for today was the dorm jail. you could pay a couple dollars to have a friend "arrested" byt the county cops and put in a small cage in the parking lot until someone bailed them out. or, for $10, you could put them there without bail. someone got a teacher in there. it was hilarious. also, the historical society was having fun, and randomly went around all day handing out buttons and saying "you have the black plague" if you got a white button, you survived; if you got a black one, you died. i didnt survive. twas sad, i contracted the black plague during dinner and died.

did yesterday feel like thursday to anyone else? liana and i agreed it felt like thursday. blah, i want it to be friday. chem lab today, but i have nothing in the morning, so i get to sleep as late as i can with my roommate thumping around. i yelled at her when she turned on the microwave at 8am the other day. her alarm is enought to wake the dead (tho not her apparently), and theres no way i can go back to sleep until she leaves, but the microwave at 8am is a bit much. as is her printer. well see if she decides to be more considerate now. if not, i have sharp objects close to hand, and i cant miss at that close range.

much going on
my so called "free day" is always busy. "free" simply means no classes. what with trumpet, work, band and percussion ensemble, inus usually rather busy. trumpet went fine; im slowly but fairly steadily improving. work was alright. took a book. heh, an amusing side-note, ive been reading this fantasy/adventure series, and the lady i work with on tuesdays asked to borrow the first one. to my surprise, she liked it. why was i surprised? because shes a 60+ year old grandmother. reading high adventure and fantasy. with dark and violent themes. it was awesome. (the series is "Tales of the Einarinn" by Juliet McKennna if anyone is curious) band was normal, and percussion ensemble was fun just because its percussion ensemble. (percussionists are insane. especially college percussionists.)

do i have anything major today? not really. other than tkd, not really. were still waiting to find out when were supposed to test. we should have a couple weeks ago, technically. were waiting "until everyone is ready to." to be blunt, my roommate is the one holding us back. im not bashing my roommate, but i mean really.

finished my random dragon drawing. i dont really like their faces. thats nothing new tho. its still a cool picture. (pun fully intended: arctic dragon, cool picture)

does it seem like im always coming down on the suicidal and the stoners?

free day again
have trumpet this morning, so i have to be up a bit earlier than usual. not bad tho. trumpet is a good way to wake up in the morning. *chuckle* playing and the illusion of progress wakes one up very well. work from 11-2 as always. luckily, i have a good book to take with me. and the annoying lady who tries to tell me how to do my job wont be there. gah, didnt mention this sunday, but, where i work, were supposed to wear closed shoes. since its been cold, i wasnt thinking about that anymore and wore sandles sunday. that lady was behind me and said:
lady: "hey, girl.
inu: *not aware shes being addressed*
lady: *comes closer* "hey, girl."
inu: *glances up to see who she means*
lady: "you have to wear real shoes in here."
inu: *fighting to hold back temper* yes ma'am, i forgot this morning.
lady: "dont do it again or youll be in trouble *walks away*
inu: *thinking* "call me 'girl' again and im throwing you through the d*** wall."

shed addressed my by name all day until that point, and it pissed me off. such a derogatory way to speak to someone, and ive been perfectly polite to her. i wanted to make some sort of remark that would be polite but get my irritation across, but i refrained. she does it again, and im calling her on it though.

*ahem* sorry. pet peeve. im good now. i drew again last night just because. random dragon, as ive been neglecting them. two-headed dragon, actually. arctic dragon at lianas suggestion. have it all drawn and about half colored. will finish that up this afternoon. they look smug. its rather funny.

quote of the day:
"I laugh in the face of danger! Then I…hide until it goes away." – Xander (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

whoo nostalgia. havent watch buffy in a long time, but that quote is still hilarious. yes, im a dork. go me.

bah
bah, monday again. no one likes mondays. >:p stupid mondays. alright, im over my little 4th-grader moment.

work was uneventful as usual. took the pic i drew yesterday to work on. that got me some funny looks. the guy that works in there plays final fantasy, and he thought it was awesome. one of the lunch ladies saw it and said, and i quote: "did you draw that?" "yes ma'am." "its very pretty." it was honestly all i could do to keep a straight face. for those who didnt see my post yesterday or who didnt know who auron was, this is auron and the reference image i used. now you see why i was cracking up when the lady called it "pretty"? i did manage to come up with a bg for my version, completely dark with a few spirits. looks cool.

going to be coming home next weekend. it being easter really doesnt mean much, its just been awhile since i was home at the same time as my parents. theyve been out of state all last week, so i didnt see them last weekend.

dont have any tests to worry about this week. have a paper due for lit friday, but its only 7pgs. its been proven i can wait until the night before, do a 7pg paper, and still get a 95% on it, so im not worried at all. nothing else major, so ya, easy week. tis nice.

oooooow
as threatened, i decided on a pic that would prove a nice challenge and take a lot of time. and it did both very nicely. started at 5 in the afternoon, took an hour break for a shower and dinner, then worked straight from 7-12. 6 hrs may not sound like much since some people will spend upwards of 20 hrs on stuff, but im notoriously fast. mind you, this is image sans background. i need to do a bg, but im not sure what would be fitting. i chose auron from final fantasy (which number?). hes on lianas "list of guys inu must draw or suffer dire consequences". 2 down, 4 to go >< anyway, used likely the most common picure of him known to man. but hey, it looks cool. i like the fact that hlf his face is covered; that made my job much easier. but glasses are not the easiest thing to draw, even sunglasses. i did this "master piece" in all graphite, alternating between a mechanical pencil and your average #2 wood pencil. used a scrap of paper towel to smudge, and voila, auron. has anyone else noticed just how freaking details video game characters clothes tend to be? i mean really. its insane. had fun with the giant sword, even tho only part of it even shows on the page. funny, in the picture i was using for reference, he looked really bored. somehow, in my version, he ended up looking pissed at the world. my roommates bf started cracking up and said that was perfectly in character, so im not too concerned. then he started rattling off little auron-related anecdotes. it was rather amusing.(i dont play final fantasy or kingdom hearts, so i really dont know much about auron) but yay for realism. real realism this time. heh, my herald vanyel pic was greeted with "thats good, but its not realism" so i say to you people, "behold the actual realism! inus rarely used skill of awesome!" (arent i modest?) as i said, this image needs a bg, and i dont know whats fitting, so if any video game gurus out there have suggestions, feel free to make them.

quote of the day:
"In each human heart are a tiger, a pig, an ass and a nightingale. Diversity of character is due to their unequal activity." – Ambrose Bierce

i love these cynical authors, of which Bierce and Twain are the most awesome.

free time...what a concept
free time? i have free time? where did this come from? it feels like im forgetting something. im losing my ability to be lazy and procrastinate, tho thats not a bad thing. just makes for restless weekends. so im endevoring to come up with a ridiculously challenging art project for myself that will take up my time. lianas out of town for the weekend, and i really dont talk to anyone else that much. so no writting, which is sad. liana has (strongly) suggested i draw vergil from DMC seeing as i already drew dante, or neo from the matrix, or any number of other fictional characters that have trench coats, bad-a** personalities, and awesome weapons. see a pattern here? i certainly did. i think shes assembled a list of about 5 characters i need to draw fitting that criteria. which i frankly find highly amusing, but i wont go into detail as liana would eviscerate me with a rusty fork. (i cite my rapidly-worsening dark humor as what liana, another friend and i call "typical martial artis humor")

yesterday was the kickoff of my colleges big spring fundraiser event (not mentioned by name as i do not wish to give any information that could possibly identify where i am. excepting if i know you personally or via facebook, which is only 3 people here) anyway, tonight is movie night, and i have no idea what movie. could be Memoirs of a Geisha or maybe that was last night. obviously i dont stay up to date on this. big finish of the whole thing is the "miss *college name* pagent" aka guys in drag. i think a friend of mine might be in it, he promised he would. (becoming his alter ego: gilez bufonda, the large black woman) if he is, i need to get a ticket for that. as is, it should be hilarious. thats likely the only event ill end up going to. granted, i havent really looked at the full schedule. we shall see.

and thats enough rambling from inu. off to ponder art oddities that i could draw. (as always, im open for ideas)

"The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved." -J. Russel Lynes

hehehe, great words to live by.
