Through the Looking Glass (Part 24)
They walk into the building and find themselves in a tavern.
Aino: I thought you said this was the AFE!
Lycurgus and Daedalus cover her mouth with their hands.
Daedalus (whispering): Shh! Not everyone here know that!
Lycurgus (whispering): Yeah. The tavern is just a cover up.
They let go of her mouth and continue walking. Aino puts the hood of her cloak back over her head (she had it on while they were riding I just forgot to put that in). She follows them to a table and they sit down.
Daedalus: I'm going to go talk to Euphrosyne and see what I can find out about all this.
He stands up and walks over to the bar.
Aino: Euphosyne?
Lycurgus: Yeah she's the tavern keeper.
He nods his head to the woman behind the bar. Aino looks around at her. She doesn't look much older than Aino. Daedalus is talking to her. Aino suddenly looks flustered.
Lycurgus: Her father used to run this before the AFE was built. But he let the AFE use it as headquaters. There's a door which leads to the basement in the back. That's the where headquaters is. You'd think it to be small right? Well this place is huge. Euphrosyne is the head of the AFE's secratary. She's also supposed to be the most beautiful girl in town.
Aino: She's not that pretty.
Lycurgus glances over at Daedalus talking to Euphosyne who's giggling.
Lycurgus: Oh are we a little jealous?
Aino: Me? Jealous? Please, spare me.
Lycurgus: Oh come on. Don't tell me you don't even like him a little bit.
Aino: I'm not telling you that.
Lycurgus: Heh heh. Ok.
Aino: Lycurgus, why are you wearing an Earth uniform? Aren't you an Animorpherig?
Lycurgus: Even if I'm an Animorpherig, I still keep my elemental powers.
Aino: Oh.
Daedalus walks back over with two drinks. He hands one to Lycurgus.
Daedalus: She said they were on the house.
He hands the other one to Aino. She looks up at him.
Aino: Daedalus, I don't drink.
Daedalus: She thought you were a man.
Lycurgus laughs in his drink.
Aino: Oh shut up.
Aino takes a sip of the drink. She makes a weird face.
Aino: Ew. This is nasty. Here do you want it?
She hands it to Daedalus.
Daedalus: No, I'm not that much of a drinker.
Lycurgus: I'll have it.
He takes it from Aino. His first glass is already empty. He finishes Aino's. The other two are giving him weird looks.
Lycurgus: So. What'd Euphosyne say?
Aino (sarcastically): Yes plese tell us. We're all so willing to hear about it.
Daedalus raises an eyebrow at her.
Daedalus: It's just as Adonis said. (whispering) We're going to go find every shard.
Lycurgus: Oh come on. There's got to be some kind of catch.
Daedalus: Apperently there isn't.
Lycurgus: When are we supposed to leave?
Daedalus: Adonis is supposed to walk out and buy a drink. We leave when he sits down.
Lycurgus: Right. I want another drink.
He raises his hand up.
Lycurgus: Hey Eupho-
Daedalus reaches over Aino and grabs Lycurgus's hand and brings it down. Aino blushes a little.
Daedalus: No more. That stuff's strong. You already had two. We don't need you drunk right now.
He takes his hand away. He looks up.
Daedalus (whispering): There's Adonis. Lycurgus you go first.
Lycurgus stands up. He casually walks over to the other side of the room. As he passes Euphosyne he nods. He turns the corner.
Daedalus: Aino you go next. Just do what Lycurgus did. Well except flirt with Euphosyne.
He rolls his eyes. Aino gets up and walks slowly to the other side of the room. She turns the corner same as Lycurgus. He's standing in a small hallway. There is a door at the end.
Lycurgus: He coming?
Aino nods. Daedalus comes around the corner.
Daedalus: Ready?
Lycurgus: Yeah.
Daedalus: Make yourself look less drunk.
Lycurgus rolls his eyes and tries to fix his hair as they walk through the door.
