Through the Looking Glass (Part 47)
Aino and Daedalus are asleep on the cart. Haiku is awake holding a sleeping Damon.
Haiku: So you're an animorpherig?
Lycurgus: Yup.
Haku: My grandfather was one.
Lycurgus: Well that's another odd coincidence.
Hakiu: ^ ^ We're just full of them.
Lycurgus: Haha. Yeah. Wow, pretty soon we'll have an alliance of powers here.
Haiku: Hmm?
Lycurgus: Well I'm Earth, you're Lightning, Aino is Ice, Daedalus is Fire, and Daedalus' sister, whom we're meeting in Surphichus, is Forest and she has a daughter who's Water. All we need is Wind.
Haiku: Heh, guess you're right. It's pretty dark, huh?
She reaches over into her bag and pulls out a jar with a screw-top lid. She unscrews the lid, puts her hand on the opening, shoots a ball of lightning in, and quickly screws the lid on.
Haiku: There we go! Ever-lasting light.
She puts it in the middle of the cart. Lycurgus looks back.
Lycurgus: That's cool!
Haiku: Thankns it's what I sell in town. Like a candle that never goes out.
Lycurgus turns back.
Haiku: Can you see?
Lycurgus: Yup. Got my wolf eyes.
Haiku: Oh, right.
She turns her head to look at Aino.
Haiku: So she's really the Ice Princess?
Lycurgus: Yes.
Haiku: Where has she been for twelve years.
Lycurgus: She lost hermemory. Daedalus found her in a lakenear his house, I dunno where, about a week or so ago. She got her memory back a little after that. She desn't know how she ended up in the lake.
Haiku: Wow. And Daedalus? I may be pointing out the obvious, bu he never seems to smile.
Lycurgus: He has a past too painful and greusome to tell.
Haiku: Was he in the war?
Lycurgus nods.
Haiku: But-
Lycurgus: We both were from the start of it. We were only fourteen.
Haiku: You were too? And only fourteen? I was ten when it started. I'm sorry you probably don't want to talk about it.
...
Lycurgus: You know, you don't have to stay awake to keep me company. I'm used to being alone. Besides you need your rest.
Haiku smiles.
Haiku: You're a good man Lycurgus.
She closes her eyes. Lycurgus blushes and smiles.
Through the Looking Glass Part 46-End

Gah. *sniffle* My brother got me sick! So I'm home today. Ah well, I needed a few days off. But my head's killing me! I'm going to make some ramen and green tea later. ^ ^ And take a nice hot bath whilst listening to "Phantom of the Opera" soundtrack. Yay! *coughs* - -'''' Gah...Sorry aboot not posting yesterday. As soon as I got home I took a nap. The my mom came and I had violin. Then I hung at S-kun's for a while (apparently he doesn't understand he's going to get sick) and then I came home, ate dinner (chicken tacos! yay!), and went to bed. What a fruitful life I lead. - - I'm going to have to make-up two tests though. A playing test and a test in world history. Hoo-rah. Anywho, the moral for the day is: Hot baths are good!! See you space cowboy...
