Type slowly.
I downloaded Akira a few nights ago, and I've watched about a third per day of it since it finished downloading, heh. It would be a lot smarter to watch it all in one sitting, I know, but I think there's something about watching it on my comparably small screen that turns me off. It doesn't work the same way for comedy, but anything visually intensive is somewhat detracted from.

On a different note (no pun), I haven't moved past the first lesson on the site I'm learning guitar from. I haven't really been slacking off on practice, I'm just fiercely determined to not move forward until I'm adept at switching between the three chords I know so far, lol. This is why I'm glad I'm learning on my own as opposed to with an instructor.

Finally, here's some more songs I felt like uploading (can't really say whether this will become a habit, but I doubt it). Not necessarily my favorites right now, just what I've been listening to lately. Love this music, and it will love you back.

Deltron 3030 - Battlesong
Fugazi - Nightshop
Tenacious D - Wonderboy

Mimms: Yep, when you've got no ideas for a new theme, C&H is the one thing you can always fall back on and never lose. :P Though I'll be changing this to a different theme I've had in mind for a while now when I can find the... materials I need for it. >_>

New theme
I really don't like having my name up there in the corner, but that top left section was occupied by some more panels in the original strip, so I had to take them out and put something else there, and I sure as hell wasn't going to cut off the entire top part of the picture. I couldn't get the colors quite right either. I still like it, though.

...with MIND BULLETS!!1
I just got back from seeing Fun With Dick and Jane. If I had to sum it all up in one term, I'd call it a big, suburbio-corporate wheelie. It didn't have me splitting my sides at any point, but there definitely wasn't a part of the movie that I disliked at all. Very fun hour and a half. I want to see the original now.

I also came in for the last scene of Glory Road, which my dad and sister were watching. I've just got one thing to say for that: if you're going to steal someone else's movies, you can at least try to do it well. Yes, even on a really complicated technical level, like not playing four different songs with almost no transition between them in an approximate time period of two minutes. (No joke, lol.)

Also, sports filmmakers: just because someone is coaching the other team doesn't mean they're a throat-stomping vampire. Some movies don't need villains, so don't go out of your way to pop 'em in there.

EDIT: Haha, This was pretty good. I'm loving that song.

The days have been numbered and your number's coming up.
In Forensics, the teachers will keep filing cabinets filled to the brim with pieces that other students have found and submitted over the years, for other students to use so they don't have to scour the world for a piece. Turns out, the one I was looking for, "Count Dracula" by Woody Allen, was actually in there. I was afraid I would have to order it, and the only site that carried a collection with it in there would ship in about 10 days, way too long for me to have to wait.

I first saw it performed last year at a tournament, and the guy who did it was fantastic. He had me rolling the whole time. Hopefully, I can do a decent job of it also. If I don't, it definitely won't be Woody Allen's fault. :P

I said you tryin' to get over, you gonna go under.
I think I'll start lending my abilities to the marketing industry. Ads have really been starting to take it down a notch, after the craziness that advertising was in the early '00s. I think if I act quick enough, I could start a reaction to the new trends before they even get too far off the ground. For example,

becomes...

Mimmi: Yeah, I hate having to call it that, lol. Forensics is actually Speech, which doesn't focus on speech techniques or mechanics as much as delivering a speech or, more commonly, acting in front of others in competitions.

Of course, to further complicate it, Forensics is actually the proper term for Debate, not Speech. And neither of them have the least thing in common with crime scene investigation, naturally lol. So...

Debate and Forensics = Wrong
Speech and Debate = Still wrong, but more widely used
Speech and Forensics = Correct, but not used anywhere

Doc: lol. I still need to get that album. I may order it when I get the book I need from Amazon.

Brain inside the brain
Guitar's still coming along well. I'm pretty surprised that results are visible so quickly, but I guess I'd be surprised in any case since I've never learned an instrument before, lol.

Forensics started yesterday. I'm not sure if I like our coach or not yet. This is his first year teaching, and he seemed abnormally uncomfortable speaking in front of a class that's about speaking and acting in front of people, lol. I've already got one of my pieces picked out (I just have to grab the book off Amazon), so hopefully I'll do a little better than last year, which caught me a little unprepared. =X

I just had one of the techs at my school permanently fix the "y" key on my keyboard, so in celebration...

yyyYyYYyYyyYYyyYyyyyyyYyy y YYyYYy y Yyy y Yy y Y Yyyyy Y Y

Felt like sharing music today, so I'm uploading some songs I've been listening to recently.

Soul Coughing - Super Bon Bon

Tally Hall - Ruler of Everything

Pavement - Stereo

Pavement - Shady Lane

Doc: Here, since so many people who visit my site play guitar, you included. :P

Move aside and let the man go through, let the man go through.
I found a site that seems to be getting me off on the right foot for my guitar playing. One of the first things the author said was, "These guitar lessons are designed for people who own (or have borrowed) a guitar, but don't yet know the first thing about playing it," and I was like, "That's me! :O"

I'm not sure how many lessons are in it, but I'm sure as soon as I get ahold of the basics, I can make do hunting down chords and tabs on my own. And fortunately, learning has been completely enjoyable so far, which mostly eliminates any fears of apathy.

When I can do something or other on the guitar, which won't be any time soon, I'll see if I can get a working recording up here.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
2006 should be a good year for me. The only resolutions I'm making are to get good at guitar, and to finish a big Illustrator project I started. I think I'll be able to keep them, lol.

Classes should be pretty cool, too. I've got Forensics, Computer Apps 2 (apparently, a friend of mine talked to the teacher about a 3D modeling program we both use a bit, and we might be doing a small unit on it.), Computer Graphics 2, and all the ones from last semester.

Baron: *prepares a mighty army of sentient blowdryers*

Shin: Hey, you've still got Seinfeld, Futurama, and MST3K. I'd call that about even. :P

Mimmi: Making people jealous with consumerist rage is the spirit of Christmas.

Liam: lol, you do bring up a good point there, though. But if that's the case, then I guess all humans are just water with some cognitive abilities, which would actually make someone like Mr. Freeze a living icicle!

I think we're onto something here...

Way-Late Christmas Post
Hope everyone had a good Christmas, or whatever you crazy kids celebrate. I've got some decent internet access for the first time in however long (at a friend's house), so I'll fill you in on the more notable loot I got.

- Twilight Zone collections 1 and 3, which puts every episode finally in my hands. In terms of nerdiness, I just sped past the point of no return, and I couldn't be happier about it.

- A DVD with three Wallace and Gromit episodes on it. (A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and a third that I don't recall.)

- A DVD player for my room. (!!)

- A guitar. (!!!) It's by a company called Stagg, and it's a beginner's guitar, but hey, I'm a beginner, lol. I can't wait to find a site or pick up a book to learn. My only concern is getting used to reading chords and suchforth for left-handed players. i.e., me.

- Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, Showbiz by Muse, Monkey Business by Ill Harmonics, and (though not as a gift, I just ripped it from my eldest sister :P) Let's Face It by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

- Some nice headphones.

As far as notable giving goes, I gave my brother the Muppet Show season 1 DVD, which I saw at Hastings and knew he had to have, lol. I would've posted about it here, but he sometimes reads this, so I couldn't. I also got my aunt a foot massager. This was specifically to buy my way out of my own personal purgatory, spawning from a bet that was made years ago, and then twisted and perverted into something horrible.

Mimmi: =D

Baron: Why can't you be more like Mimmi? I raised you to be better than this. *discouraged look*

Liam: If you created a creature and then put ice all over its skin, it's not a sentient icicle. That's more like an ice golem, which is a totally different, though equally effective, creature.

Baron: There you go. The only other thing you could need is some duct tape to hold the brain in there. The rest will play itself out.
