Maybe that's where they hibernate...
Today my sister and I went to some park to help my dad do some catering thing. It wasn't as boring as I thought it would be, since I got to fill in any free time I had eating ribs. ^_^
There was one lady there who asked us if she could eat the garnish (which she did). Go figure.
But the strangest thing there was one of the trash cans. See, the event was held under a brick building thing (what it's called escapes me), and at both entrances were two trash barrels. At the front entrance, one of the barrels had the catchy phrase "Pitch In" on the front of it, and on each side was painted...a squirrel.
This really started to get to me, as I couldn't figure out for the life of me why they had a picture of a squirrel on the side of something that has nothing to do with squirrels.
At first, I wondered if this was a trash can meant for squirrels' use only, since there was only one squirrel can. But that was obviously not the answer since it was just as tall as all the other barrels, instead of an accomodating squirrel size. Then I wondered if, since this was a park, it was a place for people to throw away the dead squirrels that they found on the ground.
Now, this was a much more plausible possibility than you would think. Have you ever wondered why you hardly ever see any dead animals in the forest? It's because other animals come and eat them usually before anyone has a chance to see them. But in a park the only animals are squirrels, who eat acorns. So what happens to the dead squirrels when they fall out of trees? Squirrel cans.
But when I looked into the barrel, it just had everyday trash in it (which, at least in Kansas, does not include squirrels).
So the squirrel mystery remains veiled. Tell your family, tell your friends, and if anyone can figure this one out, drop me a line.
