I just posted in 55 Fiction
Greatly cool thread it is, greatly cool indeed. Sara did a wonderful job on laying it out for everyone. The idea behind it is to write a story in 55 words or less (preferably not less). A lot of the stories are great, and what with them being so short instead of some of the hollow, longwinded stories I've seen in the Anthology, I was actually able to read through all the stories in about three minutes. It may actually be an incentive for me to start checking up on the OB Anthology. Might as well, since I've been coming to OB more often as of late, anyway.
I just now wrote my post, and if it helps for visualization or anything like that, I was listening to the song Drive by Leeds. Check it out if you've got broadband.
Leeds's songs are actually pretty well related to the entire thread, since they're all so short and simple. But anyway, here's it is:
Coming Home At Night
The train slipped through the gate. The streams of light on the background of a blue city tried lulling me into sleep, unsuccessfully. The malfunction in the track up ahead did it, though, and more abruptly.
When I woke up, the city was white, and the train had stopped. A warm voice said, “Welcome home.”
